IRISH 1,000 GUINEAS RATINGS ORDER

⭕ 3.15 Curragh, Sunday (Irish 1,000 Guineas) GOING forecast: Soft. DRAW: Stalls 2 to 8 (6-9). TRAINERS: Aidan O’Brien (9), Jessica Harrington (1).

⚠️ NOTE: 2,000 Guineas day at the Curragh on Saturday is in doubt after the track was hit with 34mm of rain in 24 hours, forcing officials to call a 7.30am inspection in the morning.

113 PRETTY GORGEOUS (Joseph O’Brien) Not seen this year. Beaten twice by Shale, including in the Moyglare, but beat her twice on soft, finishing the juvenile season by winning the Fillies Mile at Newmarket with Shale sixth (also soft). Newmarket 1,000 Guineas winner, Mother Earth, was third in both soft-ground races.

112 SHALE (Donnacha O’Brien) By Galileo out of 1,000 Guineas winner Homecoming Queen. In-and-out form last season with Pretty Gorgeous, in which the ground seems to be the key (above). See Sense Of Style.

110 MISS AMULET (Ken Condon) Experienced filly who has won twice with cut in the ground, including 6f Lowther Stakes from subsequent Nell Gwyn winner, Sacred. Runner-up in the Cheveley Park and third in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies in November. Not seen since.

108 FEV ROVER (Richard Fahey) Group-2 winner at Deauville (very soft) and runner-up Prix Marcel Boussac (heavy). Third in the Newmarket Guineas (firm); keen but stayed on.

105 JOAN OF ARC (Aidan O’Brien) Sister to Gleneagles and Marvellous, won on soft-heavy at the Curragh and took the Irish 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown (see Sense Of Style), making virtually all.

104 NO SPEAK ALEXANDER (Jessica Harrington) Fourth to Fev Rover at Deauville in August; readily beat Zaffy’s Pride in the Athasi Stakes (Curragh three weeks ago; yielding to soft); Belle Image fifth, Sweet Gardenia sixth

101 EMPRESS JOSEPHINE (Aidan O’Brien) Sister to Minding; has had very little racing, all this year. Won first time out on soft; well berat en in the 1,000 Trial at Leopardstown and second in a Listed at Gowran Park.

101 ZAFFYS PRIDE (Jessica Harrington) Second to Poetic Flare in 7f Group-3 at Leopardstown in October, and no match for No Speak Alexander in the Athasi Stakes. See Sense Of Style.

101 SENSE OF STYLE (Joseph O’Brien) Six races as a two-year-old (won one). Stronger this year but only sixth (hampered, dropped to last at one stage) in 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown won earlier this month by Joan of Arc; Thinking Of You third, More Beautiful fourth, Fantasy Lady fifth.

Third in the April 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown; Zaffy’s Pride fourth; Shale fifth, Joan of Arc sixth, Messidor eighth, More Beautiful ninth, Empress Josephine tenth.

100 THINKING OF YOU (Joseph O’Brien) American-bred; dam half-sister Giant’s Causeway. Third to Joan of Arc in Leopardstown 1,000 Guineas Trial.

ALSO: 99 Fantasy Lady (See Sense Of Style); 97 More Beautiful (see Sense Of Style); Sweet Gardenia (see No Speak Alexander); 94 Belle Image (see No Speak Alexander), 94 Sziget (see Zaffy’s Pride), 94 Lovely Esteem, 93 Messidor (See Sense Of Style), 81 Friendly.

20.0 SHOT COULD TAKE THE TRIAL CAKE

⭕ 2.15 Goodwood (Height Of Fashion Stakes) Today’s Height Of Fashion and Cocked Hat Stakes are viewed as the last chance to establish a genuine middle-distance contender for the Derbys and Oaks of England and Ireland.

The last big name from the fillies’ trial, commemorating the Queen’s Bustino-sired mare, was Snow Fairy who would go on to win both English and Irish Oaks of 2010.

Ready To Venture (Irish Oaks) and Nash Nasha (Ribblesdale) are the ones with the big-time entries but another ‘Fairy’ might spring a surprise, though she has won only a class-5 handicap here at Goodwood.

The Queen’s Wink Of An Eye was supposed to win it but Fairy Cakes hadn’t read the script and made most, eased right down. Wink Of An Eye is strongly fancied for the 4.25 at Haydock today at BETDAQ 3.5.

Fairy Cakes is not the height of fashion in the market, rated more than a stone behind Ready To Venture (3.35 favourite) but a 20.0 offer tempts for a tickle each way.

BETDAQ value 3.35 Ready To Venture, 20.0 Fairy Cakes (and 3.5 Wink Of An Eye, 4.25 Haydock).

45.0 HE WILL STAY WELL IN THE DERBY

⭕ 3.25 Goodwood (Cocked Hat Stakes) The Cocked Hat used to be the Predominate Stakes after the three-times Goodwood Stakes and Goodwood Cup and, as such, was won in 1979 by the illustrious Derby star Troy.

Khalifa Sat won last year on his way to being 50-1 runner-up at Epsom, and there are huge offers on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE this morning about this year’s Derby: 45.0 Stay Well, an appropriate name; 62.0 Ybir; 82.0 Lone Eagle.

We could see the ground ride deep, which would boost the chances of Aleas, though this is a big step up in trip after his hat-trick over a mile.

Lone Eagle looked a stayer in the making when winning the Group-3 Zetland at Newmarket (soft) in October, but he was beaten favourite in the Sandown Classic Trial, fourth when Ybir was third (going good).

In spite of first-time cheekpieces, Ybir let the form down, hanging badly left when beaten in the Dee Stakes at Chester. Today’s is another switchback track but this time right-handed, so that might help.

Man Of Riddles is a half-brother to Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown, and could be the long-odds (27.0 BETDAQ) danger to Stay Well, who roared home eight lengths at Windsor. Sadly for each-way punters, there are only six runners

BETDAQ value 4.0 Stay Well today (45.0 for the Derby)

KASER IS DOUBLE VALUE AT HAYDOCK

NAP At Haydock, Kaser (1.00) is ready to strike. He has dropped in the weights to within a pound or two of his course-and-distance success on the soft. The odds should be around 5.0, but he’s almost double that on BETDAQ, so get on at a price and watch for a market move

BETDAQ value 8.6 Kaser

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
