FINAL TRIALS FOR AW CHAMPIONSHIPS: The AW Championships are a herald of Spring today – if not Summer, according to Daqman – and the final Trials today look hot. Daqman’s verdict is a sunshine day for Oisin Murphy.

NOW AN UPHILL CLIMB TO CHELTENHAM: More scopes and blood tests this week will follow, after ominous signs of lung inflammation were revealed yesterday in the case of Constitution Hill. His participation in the Champion Hurdle is becoming more and more remote.

SHADES OF SUMMER ON THE FLAT

AW Championships Trials Day (🏆 finals at Newcastle Friday, March 29)

⭕ 2.02 Lingfield (Fillies And Mares Trial Handicap) Cloud Cover won at three AW tracks out of four in the late summer and autumn; Lingfield was the losing one!

Conversely, Lingfield was the only winning track for Aramis Grey. The race had just four runners but it was class 2 and she beat a 105 filly.

Last time out she dropped to class 3; that gave her a big weight, and she was held by Shades Of Summer. That one has scored again raised in class and back up to this trip. BETDAQ 5.0

Kitai is down to her winning weight and had a run back at the turn of the year. Radio GooGoo and Premiere Beauty are 6f sprinters

⭕ 2.37 Lingfield (Three-year-old Trial Handicap) We were all taught to avoid big-field three-year-old handicaps until Derby Day, when the form has hopefully settled down; now here we are with one, and Spring hardly sprung.

Blue Prince, Rosario, The Coffee Pod and Brave Empire are the ones to have won in this higher class but that’s not to say there isn’t something lurking low down the handicap off a light weight, ready to rise up the grades.

⭕ 3.12 Lingfield (Sprint Trial Handicap) Flaming Rib and Oisin Murphy were winning a Group 3 at Doha at this time last year but plummet in grade for this home series this afternoon.

The five-year-old was gelded after his last run in August, and 8.0 on BETDAQ this morning looked tasty.

⭕ 3.47 Lingfield (Marathon trial Handicap) Team Gosden have just one runner at these Trials and their man who would be king, Oisin Murphy, is back for them.

BETDAQ 3.85 this morning, Vaguely Royal, who scored three times for them last year (1-1 for Murphy) has always needed a run back after a break and, though made favourite, wanted his Wolverhampton return a lucky 13 days back.

⭕ 4.22 Lingfield (Middle Distance Trial Handicap) There are some form links here. Storm Catcher is one key: twice second to Penzance at Chelmsford and Newcastle before beating Felix a neck at Wolver.

Wadacre Gomez has won twice in class 4 but was miles behind Penzance in between (class 2).

Penzanze won on the first trials day at Newcastle in January and would earn a £75,000 bonus on finals day if he could score this afternoon and on March 29 for a five-timer. BETDAQ 4.9.

⭕ 4.57 Lingfield (Mile Trial Handicap) A Listed winner here, Dear My Friend, and Murphy’s mount are on hat-trick missions today.

Trip To Rome was cutting down Kingdom Come over 7f here the last day and the extra furlong is in his favour here, likely dropped out from the one stall.

Betdaq Betting Exchange Trip To Rome is today’s outsider, win and place at 12.0 in a field of eight.

HE’S A BALLY GOOD NOVICE

⭕ 3.00 Newbury Ballycamus (BETDAQ 5.8) has won twice at this kind of trip, including in a senior handicap. In between he failed against Henrys Friend over 2m 6f, but that one is now strongly fancied for the NH Chase at the festival.

Martator has never won a chase and form figures of 33223 over fences tell their own story about his finish!

Passing Well is not progressive; 122 to 124 in four outings, and all novice events but he has juggled with several trips and today’s is back to his winning one.

Paul Nicholls is always to be feared in a novices’ handicap but we will only know on the day – in market and on track – whether loupy Collonges is recovered from what was diagnosed as an ‘irregular heartbeat’ in his only chase in late October.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
