‘REQUEST’ LANDS AN 11-1 CRACKER: Daqman declared Latenightrequest (WON 11-1) ‘the most interesting’ of 15 runners in a race at Haydock yesterday. Already this week he has scored at good odds with Saddlers Deal (WON 8-1) and Here Comes Now (WON 66-10).
AND IT’S BACK-TO-BACK NAPS: Fadhayyil (WON 11-8) gave him back-to-back naps, after a banker on Ever So Much (WON 4-9) on Wednesday. The form of Daqman’s best bets is now 121130121220211. That’s 13 placed out of 15, seven of them winners.
FOLLOW THE SATURDAY KING: Daqman has promised to launch a Ton-Up Bet to win 100 points as he duels with Pricewise of the Racing Post for big-race value (the score is Daqman 98, Pricewise 36), and he’s also promised a new special bet tomorrow.
MADEED LOOKS THE PICK AT HAYDOCK
Day two of the Haydock Sprint Cup Meeting. A marathon eight race card highlights Friday’s racing ahead of tomorrow’s big day and there is plenty of choice and BETDAQ value for today’s racing.
3.00 6f Handicap (Div I) – The ground is likely to play a part in this one and having been changed from Good to Soft early this morning to Good, it brings one or two back into the reckoning.
Kommander Kirkup is one that will appreciate the slightly better ground and has the added bonus of the services of Richard Huges in the saddle. However, he may be a little better over a furlong shorter, which is where he got his last win.
Baby Strange on the other hand would have preferred the ground to stay on the softer side and with it drying out all the time, it is likely to worsen his chances.
The very consistent Cruise Tothelimit looks to the one to beat though, having finished third last time out in a decent contest at Thirsk only last Friday. Provided that run didn’t take too much out of him, he looks to be a solid bet.
3.35 6f Handicap (Div II) – The second division of the six furlong handicap is not much easier, but I have narrowed it down to two, Free Rein and Triple Chocolate.
Free Rein is quite unexposed looking and having dropped back to six last time out she ran on to finish second. That was on soft ground though and that won’t be in her favour today over the short trip as she won over seven previous to that.
Triple Chocolate is an improving sort and after finishing eighth in a better race at Windsor he was dropped back in class to win his next two runs, again at Windsor and then Newmarket. This looks to be the right standard for him and I think he could still have a little left in a mark of 80. He looks the one to beat here.
4.10 5f Handicap – Another sprint handicap on the card and this looks like a really competitive race.
Just over a week ago at Epsom, a race was declared void after a horse rushed the gate. The race continued and was ‘won’ by Humidor. Come On Dave was not far behind in a much better race and if he can transfer that form across to here, he looks like he should be able to go very close at a big price, off the same handicap mark.
5.20 1m2f Handicap – My nap today takes on 14 rivals over 10 furlongs in the penultimate race on the card and frankly, it is very hard to see past Madeed.
The Hamdan Al Maktoum owned colt has run very creditably in several good races over today’s trip, his last two in Class 2 races at Goodwood. He also wasn’t disgraced finishing behind True Story and taking a drop in class today, it should be very hard to get passed him.
5.0 SILVER VALUE ON DUKE AT MUSSELBURGH
NEWCASTLE A marathon contest at Newcastle at 2.50 over two miles provides the best looking betting race on the card and this should be a strong test of stamina.
William Hogarth has just joined the Brian Ellison yard and he started their association with a really good third over half a mile shorter at Ffos Las last week. His mark of 45 should not be beyond him having been slowly dropping back down from 62 last May. A repeat of his last run should see him go close again.
CHEPSTOW The sprint handicap at 4.20 looks to be a great opportunity for the John Quinn trained Seal Rock who is looking for a second win in a row after winning on his first run for the Quinn stable last time out at Carlisle.
Seal Rock had been to a career high mark of 98 with Hanry Candy before dropping back further when on a brief stint in Ireland with Andy Oliver. He joined John Quinn on 68 and today’s mark still looks decent for him and he can win this one.
MUSSELBURGH Silver Duke looks the best value bet at Musselburgh at 5.40 for Jim Goldie and Graham Lee.
Although the pair will have to overcome a possible improver with Westerly, but Goldie is stepping the Papal Bull gelding up to a mile and half for the first time which should bring out further improvement off a nice mark.
Last week Little Shambles gave me a nice winner at Catterick and I think she can follow that up this evening at 6.40, also at the Scottish venue.
The form of her penultimate start when second to Bragging is still very solid looking and despite coming back up in class from last week’s run, and I think Mark Johnston will know that there is still a little in the locker for tonight’s race.
