SANGSTER FOR 14.0 STRIKE

⭕ 4.00 Brighton Bullet Climbing Star was an appropriate winner this year of the Group-1 Robert Sangster Stakes – his South Australia memorial race – as grandson Ollie relentlessly scales the training ladder from Manton, scene of Robert’s glory days.

Sangster is currently striking at 50% with four recent winners including a Group-3 triumph at Ascot.

You may think his three-year-old filly, Boann, has lived up to her name thus far as ‘the white cow’ and jockey Trevor Whelan is 0-11 for Sangster as the one who rides the one the others don’t want to!

But Ollie is keen to get him on the board and Boann, wearing cheekpieces first time today, was useful on AW from August into late autumn last year with form figures of 101.

Boann is one of two three-year-olds running in the Bullet, which has been won three years running by a second-season animal.

The sequence started with Tin Hat (2019), one of Eve Johnson Houghton’s youngsters successful in this in the last eight years.

Today she saddles Revenue, who has not been out of a place in five consecutive starts, including a win at Bath under Georgia Dobie. Georgia has lost her claim since then.

But Revenue is a course winner, has scored over the distance and gets weight all round here, a stone from Supreme King, who is still 7lb higher than his last success.

Tony Carroll has also won this race a couple of times but backing one of his three in this – he declared 32 horses for this three-day meeting – would be to indulge in lucky dip. Two of the three are eight-year-olds; two of the three are claimed off.

Alcazar hasn’t put two wins together, back to back, since the Spring of 2021, and Crow’s Nest is a George Boughey cast-off.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 5.2 Revenue, 14 Boann

THE EVENING DELIGHTS..

⭕ 2.20 Musselburgh The new kid on the block, ex-Qatari trainer Hamad Al Jehani (currently 2-2), travels up to Musselburgh today to complete his first hat-trick from Newmarket.

Evening Saigon tries to add to the stable’s success with Haunted Dream (James Doyle at the glorious Goodwood meeting) and Fine Interview at Ffos Las on Tuesday. Now Doyle rides Evening Saigon.

The Harry Angel two-year-old has already won a race but that was at Tipperary in May for Michael O’Callaghan before moving to the Wathnan racing team Newmarket. Shades of even money this morning.

⭕ 4.00 Brighton See story above: Sangster lines up 14.0 shot

⭕ 8.16 Newmarket Another burgeoning name in the training ranks, David Menuisier, saddles another hat-trick seeker, the handicapper City of Delight, who significantly is getting weight from five of the remaining seven starters.

City Of Delight (BETDAQ 2.46) got off the mark at Windsor in June, then last month improved again and went clear of his field over today’s CD on the July Course.

I Love Paris retains the cheekpieces which helped but didn’t quite prevail when she was beaten a neck at Newbury early last month.

Adjayet steps up two furlongs in trip for this handicap debut. He is a freegoing sort so needs to settle to make an effective challenge over this 1m 2f.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
