STUMP FOLLOWS TIGER ROLL ROUTE: If you’re stumped for a Grand National bet, the latest news is of a bid to follow the Tiger Roll routine: cross-country and then Aintree. While the Gold Cup winner swerves Aintree, Gavin Cromwell’s Stumptown will bid for five wins in a row after two banks strikes at Punchestown and two cross-countrys in the bag at Cheltenham.
FOLLOW DAQMAN TODAY: Look out for Daqman’s verdict: he was the man who tipped Tiger Roll’s first National win. Meanwhile he has bets today at 7.9, 9.9 and even 48.0 at Newbury and Musselburgh
COBDEN BACK ABOARD HAVAILA
⭕ 2.30 Newbury (Brown Chamberlin Trophy) The Jonjo O’Neill stable, which lost out by a neck in the Kim Muir for J P McManus, tries to get back in the boss’s good books with Genois in this novices’ feature named after a Hennessy Gold Cup winner on this course.
Genois won at Wetherby in November on good ground but is unpredictable and his three runs since have been stinkers. That’s why he was 48.0 on Betdaq Betting Exchange this morning, 10.5 to win or be second.
Ilovethenightlife has shown a similar hangover – three flops in a row – after scoring at Kempton in November. Now tongue-tied first time and dropped in class.
Tedley, though handicapped 3lb lower, has been hovering around his current mark without winning for seven races in a row.
Leave Of Absence was runner-up in the Reynoldstown at Ascot in February but what to make of the form? The winner went on to be second in the Ultima but the two behind Leave Of Absence failed to perform.
Idefix De Ciergues’ efforts over hurdles has contributed to hiking him 10lb above his chase mark after scoring at Chepstow in November.
My first choice is Havaila, a winner on good and heavy who looks nicely weighted in this grade, with Harry Cobden returning to the horse he won on in January when they had the steadier of 11st 11lb.
RATINGS ALL IN GLORY’S FAVOUR
⭕ 3.50 Musselburgh (Mares Hurdle Series Final) The Cotswolds yard of David Killahena and Graeme McPherson went to Cheltenham with form figures of 01101 and were not disgraced by their sole player at the meeting (4th at 33-1 in the Albert Bartlett).
K & M, as they call their set-up, won this mares’ final last year with Sunday Soldier, who was completing a five-timer, launched with back-to-back strikes at Musselburgh.
Here they have Rockola Vogue, who has so far stayed in lower grade but was unlucky, jumping left at the business end, at Wetherby in her qualifier for today, beaten less than two lengths giving 11lb to the winner.
If the ratings are right, she has only All The Glory to beat, since that one forces most of the field out of the handicap.
Her form is tied up with last year’s result, as she beat Sunday Soldier in her qualifier in November.
Returning to the Edinburgh track on the first day of February, she ran third in the Scottish County Hurdle.
Benjamin Macey could not claim that day but reduces All The Glory’s 12st 5lb burden by 7lb this afternoon to make for a fascinating duel at the front of the market.
WARRIOR IN CHEEKY RAID NORTH
⭕ 4.25 Musselburgh (3m Hurdle Series Final) Nicky Henderson has four runners just down the road at Newbury tomorrow but dispatches Fierce Warrior on a solo mission to Edinburgh.
He improved under James Bowen the last day when staying on well at Doncaster and cheekpieces could bring the fierce out of the warrior! A bargain at BETDAQ 9.9 this morning.
Lucinda Russell travels south: she is 40 miles higher up on the Scottish map – and, despite his two wins out of three – hopes to see more improvement for the wind surgery and tongue-tie that helped Prince Of Perth land his second win on this course last month: BETDAQ 7.9.
Hostile Hotelier, was beaten more than three lengths that day, giving 8lb. Now at levels with Prince Of Perth but, while he should confirm earlier Catterick form with Edgewell, that may not be enough for revenge over the prince.
If All The Glory has won the mares’ race, she would weaken the favourite in this one: Uokhun was hammered 16 lengths, getting a lump of weight from All The Glory at Southwell first day of the year.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
