FORTUNE COOKIE AT NEWCASTLE: Daqman had another winner yesterday to maintain his sequence but can do better today as the Newcastle Northumberland Plate meeting presents BETDAQ value in the Gosforth Park Cup and a fillies’ Group 3 with a Fortune Cookie at 5.5 this morning.

NORTHUMBERLAND PLATE GUIDE: First Daqman’s form and stats guide to tomorrow’s Plate, final verdict on the day of the race.

ON A PLATE FOR LUCKY SEVEN

⭕ 3.10 Newcastle tomorrow (Northumberland Plate, 2m+) Stats: The winner usually comes from the top seven in the market. Daqman reveals the draw bias, age and weight range but leaves his final selection until tomorrow.

Age: 5, 5, 4, 5, 5, 7, 4, 9, 6, 7.
Weight: Seven out of 10 carried 8st 10lb to 9st 5lb
Results by stall last 10 years: (2023): 14, 10, 18, 11. (2022): 10-8-6-16. (2021): 17-15-14-19. (2020): 17-12-19-16. (2019): 7-8-17-6. (2018): 11, 17, 15, 13. (2017): 13-10-8-17. (2016): 3-12-20-18. (2015): 3-15-9-11. (2014): 1-10-8-15.

DUKE OF OXFORD 4-8-6 drawn 20 (Michael Bell, Tyler Heard 3); twice in good form at Newcastle early in the year; runner-up to Prydwen in the AW Championships Marathon, in receipt of 11lb from the head third, Spartan Army.

GRAND PROVIDENCE 4-8-6 drawn 14 (Andrew Balding, David Probert); won the Cesarewitch Trial at Newmarket (good) last September; 5th, with Duke Of Oxford 11th, in the Chester Cup.

ONESMOOTHOPERATOR 6-8-9 drawn 12 (Brian Ellison, Connor Beasley);
Winner at Newcastle over 1m 4f; best 2m form, second to Prydwen at Southwell the last day.

SPARTAN ARMY 5-8-11 drawn 18 (Alan King, Billy Loughnane); completed hat-trick when beating Prydwen in the AW Marathon Trial but only third in the Marathon (see Duke Of Oxford)

TROOPER BISDEE 4-8-6 includes 5lb penalty, drawn 10 (Sir Mark Prescott, Hollie Doyle); stable won the Ascot Stakes and followed up with Trooper Bisdee last week in the Pontefract Cup (2m 2f).

YASHIN 5-9-7 drawn 1 (Jessica Harrington, Scott McCullough 3); beaten three lengths in last year’s Ebor; twice third to Gold Cup hero, Kyprios, (1m 6f) in the Spring, but no form over further.

ZOFFEE 8-8-10 drawn 13 (Hugo Palmer, Harry Davies); Northumberland Vase winner at this meeting last year; returned to form over a similar trip in the Chester Cup in the Spring.

ZENDA ZEST CAN CLAIM CUP

⭕ 5.25 Newcastle today (Gosforth Park Cup, 5f) Makanah was fourth last year, giving 10lb to the winner, Vintages Clarets: he would have been receiving 7lb had Vintage Clarets stood his ground today.

George Boughey runs two. Grace McEntee used her claim successfully on Navello, who stepped up from that win – at Wolverhampton – to score in today’s grade at Windsor under William Buick.

Third that day was stablemate Thunder Moor under McEntee but now the mount of Billy Loughnane. Thunder Moor was carried right at the start when the favourite ducked across.

Copper Knight won this race for Tim Easterby in 2018; he’s become a York specialist since then, but scored at Chester the last day on his favoured soft ground.

Prince Of Zenda started the year with a double, second leg here, and is 9lb higher now. He was back at Newcastle in May, trying to make all but beaten just over a length in a bumping match with the winner.

Hugo Palmer drops him back to 5f for the first time in the horse’s career and it should certainly suit his keen style of running.

Bergerac has always run well and has now dropped down the handicap to within a pound of his last strike here in November.

Ziggys Missile sports a Tapeta record of 1121 (that second was when beaten a head here) but is up 6lb for a class-4 win at Southwell in March.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 4.4 Prince Of Zenda, 8.4 Bergerac

THE CHIC FORTUNE COOKIE

6.00 Newcastle (Group 3 fillies, 1m 2f) We didn’t expect to see Fortune Cookie Chic Columbine until the Falmouth Stakes at the July Meeting, for which she’s still engaged. But, with a £37k first prize, today is a proper target.

Winner here on the Newcastle Tapeta, she was pipped in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes, also Group 3, over a mile at the Epsom Derby meeting, after failing to get a clear run.

Glimpsed caught the eye finishing well and her Ralph Beckett stablemate, La Pasionaria, was fourth in the Musidora.

Three-year-olds have beaten older fillies twice in the last three years and, as well as Chic Columbine for George Boughey and Billy Loughnane, Darnation holds strong form.

But her May Hill win at Doncaster in September and last month’s German 1,000 Guineas in Dusseldorf were both on soft ground. She incurs a 5lb penalty which leaves her only a pound clear of Chic Columbine.

Tiffany has also scored in Germany, Listed level only, but she has all the big fillies’ targets in England for later in the year, as if just growing into herself.

Madame Ambassador (5th) and Sapphire Seas (9th) drop back two furlongs after their lack of success over further (Haydock 1m 4f good) at today’s level. Red Danielle had earlier run up to Madame Ambassador in a Listed race at Aye. Miss Contik is related to AW winners.

BETDAQ value 5.5 Chic Columbine, 6 Tiffany, 7.9 Darnation

PERFECTLY TIMED DOUBLE..

⭕ 5.50 Newmarket/6.35 Newcastle If Brighton winner Post Rider can complete the hat-trick in the 5.50, success would be a pointer to Perfectly Timed at 6.35.

Perfectly Timed ran second at Brighton, giving the winner a stone and Post Rider scored again the last day, when she promised a big future.

Post Rider now steps up a couple of furlongs but, by Postponed out of a High Chaparral mare, should relish the new trip.

BETDAQ value Post Rider 2.18 at Newmarket and Perfectly Timed 3.6 at Newcastle.
