With a £200,000 prizemoney boost, Bath’s new Good Friday card of class-5 and class-6 events was so oversubscribed that 304 will not get a run of the 408 initial entries.

Guineas-entered Arabian Storm won here impressively 23 days ago over 7f and is related to Group winners up to 1m 6f, so should have no problem staying the extra furlong today. BETDAQ 3.7.
⭕ 1.50 Newcastle (3-y-o 6f Championship) The favourite Shaquille is hunting up a hat-trick but I took a liking to Perdika during her 4-4 last backend and in her courageous victory at Chantilly (Listed) the last day.

⭕ 2.25 Newcastle (Marathon) Age didn’t stop Earlofthecotswolds at Wolverhampton in March and he set up a hat-trick last Spring, culminating in this race. Berkshire Rocco the danger. BETDAQ 9.2
⭕ 3.00 Newcastle (Middle Distance) £103k to the winner but just half a dozen left in, two of them from the same Gosden yard. Forest of Dean won the qualifier here and has not been disgraced in Group company. BETDAQ 2.5.
⭕ 3.35 Newcastle (Mile) Berkshire Shadow was ‘a special horse, a star,’ said winning jockey Oisin Murphy after they took the Coventry at Royal Ascot in 2021.
Things didn’t quite work out that way for either of them but the partnership was back to form at Wolverhampton the last day and Murphy will be keen to prove his point at this class-2 level. BETDAQ 2.4
⭕ 4.10 Newcastle (Fillies And Mares) Highfield Princess won this last year on the way to a mighty Group-1 sprint hat-trick.
She was already rated 104 that day and those around that level of ability today are Queen Aminatu (107) and Manaafith (103).
⭕ 4.45 Newcastle (Sprint) Just last week, Vadream powered home in the Cammidge Trophy and the mare is now a 108 (revised rating due) running as a 100 here, so theoretically on a par with Annaf and Diligent Harry.
The Dundalk star Harry’s Bar is a pound up on them both but dwelt at the start in this race last year and finished well behind.
Annaf missed the start in the Lingfield qualifier for this but still beat Diligent Harry (hung under pressure) a neck and is 5-9 on AW.

⭕ 1.30 Lingfield (AW Apprentice Vase) Connor Planas (on Vega Sicilia 5.5 BETDAQ offers), Benoit De La Sayette (Mr Inspiration 9.8) and Billy Loughnane (Buxted Too 10.0) are all three currently hitting the headlines, with Connor 5-13, Benoit 3-14 and Billy 6-20.
⭕ 2.40 Lingfield (AW Vase 1m) On A Session and Dingle were second and third in this last year, but you’d expect a young horse to win it, preferably low drawn.
Brewing fits the bill, as an unbeaten four-year-old, but he has to step up in class after nearly four months off, with Ryan Moore steering him from the tricky one stall. BETDAQ 3.55.
There are two Irish raiders. Final Voyage (6.8) has slipped 7lb since moving to Johnny Murtagh, and Billy Loughnane rides, whereas Mulgrave has shot up 21lb from a February hat-trick for John McConnell at Dundalk. Who’s gone in the right direction?
⭕ 3.50 Lingfield Dembe completed a four-timer when winning this last year but is up 5lb now and not in the same form. What he does have is Jamie Spencer, still one of the great judges from off the pace in a big-field handicap.
Queen Of Ipanema has more speed and can probably beat Obsidian Knight again, after their first and second at Wolverhampton over further. William Buick stays faithful.
