BACK-TO-BACK NAPS AS DAQMAN CASHES IN: Daqman has hit the headlines again. And again. ‘Cash in on Caucus,’ he said yesterday (Caucus, WON 15-8). ‘Grandeur a confident nap,’ he declared on Wednesday (Grandeur, WON 6-4). Result: back-to-back naps up.

60 POINTS PROFIT FROM THREE WINNING DAYS: Daqman was also on Astonishing (WON 11-4), who lived up to his name yesterday, winning five lengths and six lengths, taking profits to just under 60 points from three winning days in a row.

1.40 Newmarket (Oh So Sharp Stakes) Sir Michael Stoute runs one in this only when he thinks he has the right material: form figures in the decade 12011. Richard Hannon is less precise – 101003 – but ever dangerous.

Rarest to this Newmarket feast, however, is Andre Fabre, sending over Miss France from Chantilly to see what’s cooking among the English fillies, though only Lightning Thunder would be a long-term guide, holding a 1,000 Guineas entry.

Our Classic hopes are more likely to come from the Fillies’ Mile later on, and no doubt M. Fabre will be checking up on Clive Brittain’s Rizeena, whom he saw run such a good race in the Prix Morny at Deauville against the colts.

Stealth Missile is the dark filly of this race, coming from the Rizeena yard and winning well at Ascot. It often pays to follow a team which has known Classic-potential in its ranks.

The Stoute hope, Radiator, was hot this morning, not much better than even money, with Miss France her nearest rival but a more tempting 5.6 on BETDAQ.

My tactics are to take the early position Miss France but – since I can’t know how the market will trend – this column will save on Radiator and get some leverage on the Stoute filly in a small double with the nap.

2.10 Newmarket (Rosemary Stakes) Subsequent Group-3 winning three-year-old Chigun came out of this last year, and that age group overwhelms the older fillies and mare numerically today, though Igugu and and Switcher among them are already around Group-3 level.

But, like Maureen and Purr Along, who are a similar ilk among the three-year-olds, they are nearly horses. Any one of them could have her day, dropped to this Listed. But can you bet on it? If so, which one?

Equally, one of the handicap winners on the upgrade, Estiqaama and Lanansaak, could rise to her first pattern occasion. Can you bet on that? If so, which one?

Well, on a line through Great Timing, Lanansaak, only a point ahead of Estiqaama in the BETDAQ orange this morning, is streets in front on form and, lightly raced, should get better and better.

The rule is always: go with the improver. And, with the in-form Roger Varian bullish this morning, I’m taking a nap-happy gamble on Lanansaak, 5.1 as I write.

2.40 Newmarket (Joel Stakes, British Champions Series) Tawhid has boosted the Goodwood win of Montiridge who, in turn, would make his Haydock conqueror, Top Notch Tonto, a short price for tomorrow’s Cambridgeshire, should he beat Soft Falling Rain today.

As we’ve already seen in the Rosemary Stakes, today is a battle of the generations. The punter has to choose between the three-year-old, Montiridge, and the older colt, Soft Falling Rain. Or has he?

There is a line provided by Tawhid. Both Montiridge (at Goodwood) and Soft Falling Rain (at Newbury) have beaten Tawhid a length and a quarter.

But Soft Falling Rain was giving Tawhid 7lb in a Group 2, whereas Montiridge met him at levels in a Group 3. Montiridge today falls short of Rain by 3lb.

There is another line. Guest of Honour beat Montiridge in the Spring, giving 13lb, though Guest Of Honour had had a run, Montiridge not.

But, like Soft Falling Rain, we’ve seen Guest of Honour tackle a higher grade and, hampered at a vital stage, was an excellent third in the Summer Mile at Asvot, close up to Queen Anne second Aljamaaheer

That makes Guest Of Honour’s 8.4 on BETDAQ a stunning offer this morning. Saver on Soft Falling Rain

3.15 Newmarket (Fillies Mile) First of all, you can forget Rizeena for the 1,000 Guineas. The odds are hugely against a long season for a two-year-old culminating in Classic success the followjng year. I’ll do some homework on that one and let you know more but it just doesn’t make sense.

Dare we defy her in this two-year-old ‘classic’ today? Well, she’s been beaten twice (albeit by a top colt in the Morny), and this is her first mile race.

We know that Ihtimal gets a mile well, and that Rizeena has had some hard tasks in a seven-race season. I’ll bet as if the bubble will burst now. If not, it surely will next season.

5.20 Haydock (BETDAQ Haydock Park Apprtentice Training Series Handicap) Duke Of Destiny is an enormous offer at 13.0 on BETDAQ this morning, if Bradley Bosley has the same horse under him that scored so stylishly at Yarmouth last month.
