BETDAQ ODDS ALMOST DOUBLE BUT HE FINISHES SECOND: Daqman‘s 7-0 drubbing of Pricewise after three days of Royal Ascot includes a winner called Heartache, and his returns yesterday (33222) reveal the pain of being right on the edge of a fortune won, a sequence of places at 12-1, 16-1 and 20-1 continuing with Ronald R (2nd 16-1 from 30.0 on BETDAQ), who had to be switched to get a gap. So the gap between Daqman and Pricewise is 185 points not the 249 if those four had won.

2.30 Royal Ascot (Albany Stakes)
STATS Three favourites in the decade but winners at 14-1, 16-1 (twice) even 50-1. Draw: Early winners in sprints were drawn high but the ‘low’ far side had it yesterday.
ANALYSIS Ed Dunlop, who won this with an outsider in 2009, is currently in good form at a lower level and Armum (gate 17) just might be something special, sold out of Jamie Osborne’s yard on Monday for £250,000, nearly four times his sales price. Half-sister to last year’s Windsor Castle winner.
By the speed stallion, Kodiac, Roger Varian’s Madeline (21) is another outsider worth a check before the race. Natural (in 10 for Richard Hannon) is another Kodiac. Both Hannon and Varian have won this race in the last three seasons.
Churchill’s sister Clemmie (stall 2) – in fact, Clementine was Winston Churchill’s wife – has been prepped for this in the same way brother Churchill was before he won at this meeting, a quiet maiden third.
Same guessing game again, too, with Wesley Ward: will another of his speedball ‘quarterhorses’, Fairyland (gate 14), last out 6f? Stablemate Princess Peggy (in 3) is more likely to, as a daughter of Scat Daddy, same sire as Take Me With You.
Take Me With You (stall 20) was bought at the same sale as Jeremy Noseda’s two previous winners. All were six-figure buys, this one the most expensive.
Alpha Centauri (stall 1) has twice beaten Actress, including on firm ground. Twice third in the same races were Ger Lyons fillies, so he ought to know where he is with Black Sails (stall 4). But Aidan O’Brien surely has the call, with two jockeyed up in front of Actress.
O’Brien and Seamie Heffernan won this at 16-1 a year ago. They team up with Winter’s sister, Snowflakes (stall 5), another who’s had just the one quiet run. Ryan Moore rides Clemmie, who got a form boost when the runner-up in her maiden was fourth in the Queen Mary.
VERDICT: I take two Galileos, sisters of Guineas winners, Clemmie and Snowflakes, BETDAQ offered 7.0 and 25.0 in the low stalls, which should get a good lead from Princess Peggy. Take Me With You (20.0 in the orange) looks best on the stands’ side.

3.05 Royal Ascot (King Edward V11 Stakes)
STATS Trainers: Sir Michael Stoute 7, John Gosden 3, Mark Johnston 2, Saeed Bin Suroor 2. Jockeys: William Buick 2, Jamie Spencer 2.
ANALYSIS: In 2011, John Gosden produced Nathaniel to win this before that one stepped up even higher to take the King George.
This column has supported progeny of Nathaniel from the same yard, Enable and yesterday Ronald R. Now here’s Nathaniel-sired Glencadam Glory at a huge 28.0 on BETDAQ in the same race his father won.
Benbatl (5th at Epsom) yesterday boosted the Derby form and there are five more Epsom also-rans in this: Best Solution (8th, three lengths behind Benbatl), Glencadam Glory (9th), Permian (10th), Salouen (13th) and Khalidi (14th).
Permian had beaten Benbatl and Crystal Ocean in the Dante Stakes but that was run on good to soft.
Best Solution (needs some rain) earlier beat Glencadam Glory into second (by three lengths) in the Lingfield Derby trial (Frankuss fourth, Sir John Lavery a disappointing sixth) on good ground.
Best Of Days was thought to be a Derby horse until injury kept him off until now. So, too, Crystal Ocean, but Sir Michael Stoute has been missing strike with similar promising sorts this week and I’ll wait until the last.
VERDICT: Hugo Palmer’s Azamour colt Best of Days is a big price because of the worry about his long absence but he loves firm ground and is meeting a bunch of nearly horses here, most of whom don’t stay. So 12.0 is a betting proposition. Sir John Lavery and Glencadam Glory are expected to show their stamina.

3.40 Royal Ascot (Commonwealth Cup)
ANALYSIS Harry Angel was bought by Godolphin after running away with the Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock on firm around a month back. He looked a speed freak that day, and his challenge to Caravaggio is real.
Unbeaten in five starts, Carvaggio has put small fields to the sword in Ireland but slammed a cavalry-charge Coventry Stakes at this royal meeting last year.
Godolphin play a tactical pincer around Carvaggio with Blue Point, who beat Harry Angel at Ascot early in May when receiving weight.
Wesley Ward gives David Flores his second ride of the week at Ascot on Bound For Nowhere making up a quartet so far clear that the remaining eight are 60.0 to 345 on BETDAQ.
VERDICT: That helps you get a 104% overround on the exchange. I fact, the early races were all 104 this morning, except the Coronation Stakes which was 103.
Take a few minutes respite before this mad dash between four flyers and check out yesterday’s overrounds at SP. The early races peaked at 123. But just look at the last two handicaps: 131 and 146%.
Yes, but what about the winner of this one, Daqman? The answer has to be that, until proved otherwise, the Group 1 winner Caravaggio beats the Group 2 (Harry Angel). I’m hoping to find some even money
PRECIEUSE ENORMOUS AT BETDAQ 12.0
4.20 Royal Ascot (Coronation Stakes)
ANALYSIS: Unless dual 1,000 Guineas winner, Winter, has an off day she should again take care of Hydrangea and Roly Poly and, therefore, on a line through them, La Coronel.
Dabyah has to step up from Group 3 but could improve and the French Classic form is good this year with their 1,000 Guineas winner Precieuse beating Roly Poly just about as far as did Winter, though she officially has 4lb to find.
The ground is a worry but it didn’t stop Le Brivido and Qemah landing a French double on Wednesday. Progeny of the sire of Precieuse have done well on both firm and soft, and the trainer is happy.
VERDICT: I shall put Winter in my mixed bets but, in terms of value, Precieuse is an enormous price at 12.0 offers (3.7 a place as I write).
11.0 WISCONSIN LEGER WARNING
5.00 Royal Ascot (Queen’s Vase)
STATS: Sorry, folks; they’ve change the distance of this former 2m race. It’s now more like an early second-class St Leger.
ANALYSIS: Time To Study has won over the trip but has to step up from handicap level. When they met at Navan, Belgravia, brother of Derby winner Ruler Of The World, beat Haripiour, half-brother to Derby winner Harzand at a furlong short of today’s journey.
The first thing Aidan O’Brien did when Wisconsin won his maiden was to enter him in the Irish St leger, so I don’t think we can back stablemate Belgravia (6.4) without Wisconsin (11.0) on our side, too.
MAIN CHANCE ON ROYAL RUNNER
5.35 Royal Ascot (Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes)
STATS: Four-year-olds are 7-2 up on five-year-olds. Winning ratings suggest that the winner should come from the bottom half of this handicap. Draw: double-figure stall essential.
TURNKEY FORM: The 1m 4f handicap on Derby Day (Solder In Act ion beat Eddystone Rock) and the 1m 4f handicap at the Guineas meeting (Mainstream) are best guides to to this event.
ANALYSIS Appeared and Mainstream, both gelded since last year, have given notice of a big run in this but, as well as Appeared, Roger Varian saddles Wadigor, the improver of the race.
VERDICT: Can Stoutie finally get it right, with Mainstream (BETDAQ 6.2) running for The Queen in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes. Soldier In Action is big at 20.0
