BIG BETDAQ VALUE AS 7.8 DAQMAN NAP COMES HOME AT 7-2: Daqman landed his nap in a jumpers Flat race at bumper odds yesterday, Before Midnight taken when almost 7-1 on BETDAQ, and one of two hits out of three bets on AW.
WON 7-2 BEFORE MIDNIGHT from 7.8 on BETDAQ, nap
WON 5-1 TADLEEL
NEWBURY AND WARWICK BOTH POSTPONED TO NEXT WEEK: Friday and Saturday Jumps racing is abandoned or postponed, with Saturday’s main meetings at Newbury and Warwick postponed until next week. See All-Weather Diet below.
CHELTENHAM STORY (part 2): Daqman continues his Cheltenham probe into Dublin Festival winners. He has his customary three bets at Southwell.
AN ALL-WEATHER DIET UNTIL SUNDAY
Up the junction! The sands at Southwell are as near as many may get to a beach this year, but there won’t be buckets and spades at Rolleston Junction.
Southwell is sole survivor today and races again on Sunday.
It’s become the main course this weekend in a racing diet best served cold on the internet. Here’s the menu:
⚠️ Friday OFF Kempton (Jumps) and Chelmsford (AW ) have both been abandoned, leaving only Southwell in England and Dundalk in the west of Ireland.
⚠️ Saturday OFF There is no Jumps racing at Newbury and Warwick, and Naas inspects at 7.30 a.m.
AW racing is scheduled for Chelmsford, Lingfield and Wolverhampton, where precautionary inspections are likely.
⚠️ Sunday inspections Exeter leaves its inspection for Sunday until 8.30 a.m. that morning. No inspection for Punchestown (going soft to heavy; showers) is currently planned. The AW meeting is at Southwell.
⚠️ Warwick now Monday The Saturday Jumps meetings are postponed until next week, with Warwick rescheduled for Monday.
⚠️ Newbury on Sunday week The Saturday card for Newbury is moved to Sunday week, February 21.
CHELTENHAM: SEE HOW THEY WON
Where do the Cheltenham winners come from? Is the increasingly strong Dublin Festival the key to the championship races in March? Here’s the path to Cheltenham for the champions of Day 2 in the last three years (Dublin festival winners in capitals).
⭕ 1.30 Cheltenham, Wednesday, March 17 (Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle): The last two winners, Envoi Allen and City Island, both came from prep races at Naas.
SAMCRO (2018) was the Dublin Festival star, where he remained unbeaten with seven wins in a row.
⭕ 2.10 Cheltenham, Wednesday, March 17 (Broadway Novices’ Chase): Presenting Percy (2018) had done his racing at Gowran Park (including winning the Galmoy Hurdle) before winning this.
Topofthegame (2019) had been runner-up at Kempton on Boxing Day, while Champ (2020) was a faller at Cheltenham New Year ‘s Day after winning the Ladbrokes Berkshire Chase at Newbury in the autumn.
⭕ 3.30 Cheltenham, Wednesday, March 17 (Queen Mother Champion Chase): Altior’s back-to-back wins followed preps at Newbury (Game Spirit Chase 2018) and Ascot (Clarence House Chase 2019).
Politologue’s victory (2020) came at 6-1 after defeats at Cheltenham and in the Tingle Creek at Sandown.
⭕ 5.30 Cheltenham, Wednesday, March 17 ( Champion Bumper): Last year’s winner, Ferny Hollow, had won at Fairyhouse but the previous two had both scored at the Dublin Festival:
RELEGATE (2018): when she won the Mares Flat race, it was only her second racecourse appearance (2-2).
ENVOI ALLEN (2019) had made it four in a row when taking the Matheson NH Flat race.
GO GO GO FOR HOLLIE ON SHY SHY..
⭕ 2.15 Southwell The four-year-old grey Vape, superbly named by Dark Angel out of Puff, scored in January before the 1-41 more recent stats of trainer Tony Carroll’s record.
Vape is a CD winner here at Southwell and could yet be good enough to defy the yard’s unspectacular overall performance. Excessable and Requinto Dawn are also CD winners.
Nick Vedder ran yesterday, so misses his chance of revenge on Excessable, better off with the winner after his defeat of 10 days ago.
The trainers in form are Richard Fahey (three winners in five days) and Gay Kelleway (3-7 in February so far).
The snag with Gay’s Global Hope is that he is 0-8 on AW and Fahey’s Requinto Dawn, who had been in great heart through the winter, and scored here a grade higher than today, flopped the last day, as if he’s had enough for now.
I took 5.5 the grey front-running filly Too Shy Shy as a back-and-lay bet on the BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE this morning, back in trip and reunited with Hollie Doyle, twice her winning partner. Too Shy dipped to 4.9 after Nick Vedder’s withdrawal.
ANOTHER FLYER WITH TRUE HERO
⭕ 3.15 Southwell I’m taking hold of the bit and looking for another all-the-way ride. This one is True Hero (BETDAQ 2.7) , who travelled strongly when beaten favourite on this course at 6f. The drop to the minimum today looks ideal.
Blackcurrent has never put two races together before and it’s less than a week since he made all here the last day (Bluella, third, only a pound better off).
Wind op and visor could bring about a revival for both Navajo Dawn – not seen for more than two months – and trainer Robyn Brisland, who is 0-17.
IT’S 9.6 DRAGON’S TIME EVERY YEAR
⭕ 3.45 Southwell Palazzo, four times a winner on the course, has a 5lb penalty for scoring 10 days ago, while November CD winner Equidae and January scorer Iva Reflection are a couple of pounds high.
Though he went close last time off an easy lead, Debs Delight hasn’t won since his maiden, always a bad sign. After an autumn double here, Luscifer has been well held since off higher marks.
The handicap may have fallen right for Custard The Dragon (BETDAQ 9.6), who has won in January or February five years running since 2016; twice at Southwell in 2017, Southwell again in 2018 and also last year.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
