BETTER TIMES AHEAD ON BETDAQ! Daqman is inches away from a big hit! His bid to follow up last year’s double of Thyestes and 33-1 Grand National win by Nick Rockett failed on the line yesterday when 12.0 BETDAQ bet, Better Times Ahead (2nd 17-2), was beaten a head by Now Is The Hour’s late lunge, the pair 19 lengths clear. His Thursday best were placed 2323 after Wyvern was 3rd at 25-1.
STAKE YOUR CLAIM(ER)!
⭕ 2.05 Doncaster, Saturday (Great Yorkshire Chase) Claimers could bid for a hat-trick in the big race on Town Moor tomorrow and come into their own at Doncaster today as trainers try to reduce burdens to be carried in the mud.
Last year’s Great Yorkshire winner, Docpickedme, who returned to form over CD in December, is just 2lb higher to land a Great Yorkshire double under Charlie Maggs, who is allowed 5lb.
Maggs followed on Freddie Gordon, also a 5lb claimer, who was the 16-1 winner in 2024.
The only other course winner in Saturday’s race is Josh The Boss, as usual ridden by his owner, amateur rider Mr Jamie Neild (7), who had his first winner six years ago and is trying to break through 13 after that many strikes from his first 100 rides.
A third allowance in weight on a day of deep ground is the 3lb claim of Bradley Harris on Kelce for the in-form Bath stable of Neil Mulholland.
LEFT-HAND TURN OF JOTO
⭕ 2.50 Doncaster today Charlie Maggs on Joto and Neil Mulholland with the J P McManus hot-pot Jamaicaine clash in this novices’ handicap hurdle.
Jamaicaine leaps another stone – up 24lb all told for her Hereford double – but is obliged to carry just a 7lb penalty helped by another claimer here, sure to hit the headlines if he can score for McManus.
Joto under Maggs, who has a 40% strike-rate at Doncaster, ran at Newcastle as if this step up in trip will bring about improvement and find the flaw in right-hand-leaning Jamaicaine on this pear-shaped left-hander.
A Betdaq Betting Exchange bet at 7.6 offers about Joto could be covered at even money Jamaicaine. May the best boy win!
LAND ON CLASSY JET PLANE
⭕ 4.18 Warwick After six winners on Sunday – three each at Fakenham and Windsor – and three more at Huntingdon yesterday, Dan Skelton stays ‘at home’ today.
He’s close on 150 winners at Warwick for a 20-minute ride down the road from his Alcester stables.
Dream’s Ka (1.05) could have kicked off another Skelton hat-trick today, though he faced a Nicky Henderson Triumph Hurdle outsider, odds-on Feel Gut, in that Junior NH Hurdle.
And Cobbler’s Boy (2.05), a difficult ride shown up at Haydock, could do better back to the track where he broke his maiden in the spring.
But I prefer to wait for Jet Plane in this hunters’ chase. At this sort of time last year, he was a winner at Wetherby and third at Haydock under Heidi Palin in the hunter-chase discipline and he’s been back to form at the turn of the year.
A length second in the Foxhunters over the Grand National fences at the big meeting at Aintree, he’s expected to have a good year.
RELY ON MARQUAND MAGIC
⭕ 7.15 Southwell A keengoer who won at Brighton the only time he was ridden by Tom Marquand, Magic Stone should be suit by Southwell, with Marquand back on board. BETDAQ 4.3 taken.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
