NUNTHORPE FORM AND DRAW: Today Daqman presents the Nunthorpe form in stalls order, with low numbers best.

TIME FOR A 50-1 OUTSIDER

⭕ 1.50 York (1m 4f handicap) In the last seven seasons, the winner has been 15-2, 8-1 (twice), 11-1, 14-1, 20-1 and 33-1 SP.

Four-year-olds have won 9 out of 10 but are restricted to four runners today. None can be ruled out, not even Track Of Time, well drawn and slipped 10lb down the handicap since a winner in France before moving to Ian Williams.

The grey Shadow Dance, touted for this season, ran well the last day; Betdaq Betting Exchange 7.6. Lieber Power won at York in May and has been consistent in lower class since.

Insanity landed me a 9-2 nap at the Shergar Cup meeting and is up 11lb for a run of 121 form figures. Rolls the dice again at BETDAQ 6.0 and has landed a lucky six with the draw.

Mr Monaco and Wafaei are three-year-olds on the upgrade but my second choice has to be Track Of Time; where else is the usual shock winner coming from? BETDAQ 52.0 this morning.

LONSDALE TO WIN LONSDALE

⭕ 2.25 York (Lonsdale Cup) Tom Marquand made all on Quickthorn in 2022 and won the Goodwood Cup with the same tactics last August. But that blew Quickthorn’s chance of back-to-back Lonsdales and he hasn’t recovered his form.

Last year’s winning stable with Coltrane has Night Sparkle and Alsakib to try to keep the Cup on the mantelshelf; Alsakib has the higher rating but was well outpaced by Point Lonsdale (pictured below) in the Ormonde.

The winner won in fast time and has similar ground and turning track to step up to 2m successfully today, with Vauban and Gregory surely lacking pace for such action.

GIMCRACK WINNER’S SHADOW

⭕ 3.00 York (Gimcrack Stakes) Charlie Appleby, William Haggas and Richard Hannon have each won two Gimcracks in the last nine years but only Appleby’s Godolphin team is playing today with Shadow Of Light.

His latest win came on the July Course in the race that threw up the 2022 Gimcrack winner, his stablemate, Noble Style, but his gate-9 draw alongside The Strikin Viking (10) isn’t helpful.

Camille Pissarro (who has the one stall) ran up to Babouche in the Anglesey at the Curragh three weeks before that one beat subsequent Morny winner, Whistlejacket, in the Phoenix Stakes.

Big Mojo (out of stall 2) scored his Molecomb success at Goodwood at the expense of Aesterius and yesterday’s Lowther winner, Celandine.

Andesite (gate 3), who won at York on his only start in May, is a son of Pinatubo, who landed six in a row as a juvenile, culminating in the Dewhurst.

CONDITIONS FAVOUR ASFOORA

⭕ 3.35 York (Nunthorpe Stakes) WINNING AGES this century: 3yo five, 4yo six, 5yo four; older horses 7. FAVOURITES: only one since 2014.

TRAINERS with runners: Michael Dods (2).

DRAW: Stalls 1, 3, 4 and 6 have won four of the last five and a low draw has dominated this week, particularly for horses fast away. Ratings in stalls order:

109 PONNTOS (stall 1) Completed hat-trick, climbing Listed to Group 3 to Group 2, making all in Saint-Georges sprint (soft) Longchamp in May from Makarova at today’s weights. See Big Evs.
116 BRADSELL (stall 3): Coventry winner in 2022 (firm); won the Kings Stand Stakes (good) in 2023 before Nunthorpe 3rd.
111 CLARENDON HOUSE (stall 4) York CD winner; cheekpieces first time. See Starlust
109 AZURE BLUE (stall 6) The grey filly’s best form was when winning here over 6f in May last year.
112 STARLUST (stall 7) Won over York CD (good to soft) in July, with Clarendon House 5th. See See Big Evs
112 ASFOORA (stall 8) Won the King Charles at Ascot in June (good to firm) from Regional, Big Evs, and Believing, with Makarova 7th. Big Evs now 10lb higher; Believing 7lb higher. See Big Evs
105 MAKAROVA (stall 9) See Ponntos, Regional
112 WASHINGTON HEIGHTS (stall 10) Won the Abernant (6f) in April but the second turned round the form in the Clipper, a grade-higher race, here at York later that month.
106 FROST AT DAWN (stall 11) Impressive winner at Meydan but no recent form.
090 SO MAJESTIC (stall 12) Winning handicapper in Ireland last June; up 25lb for decent efforts without winning in 14 races since.
111 BELIEVING (stall 13) See Big Evs
113 BIG EVS (stall 14) Won the King George (good to firm) at Goodwood from Asfoora, Believing and Live In The Dream, with Starlust 6th, Ponntos 8th.

REACH FOR THE BEST DRAW

⭕ 4.10 York (1m 2.5f fillies’ handicap) Low draws have been essential in the short history of this race, with two of the last three winners racing strongly from a fast break out of the one stall; gates 3 and 4 won either side of that double.

Reach won last year with plenty in hand off 82; saved up for a repeat, just 5b higher and drawn 1.

There was a head between Al Anoud (stall 4 today) and Power Of Destiny at Goodwood, the runner-up unlucky that day (not clear run) but now fate has her in stall 10.

Battle Queen (3) has always been regarded as a miler but travels very well and is way down the handicap.

Canoodled (2) is also on a handy mark, 9lb lower than she started the season and with her yard absolutely flying with a double here yesterday.

Invisible Friend landed a big-field race here on her reappearance and her winning rider that day, Rowan Scott, is given the chance of a top-flight follow-up.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 6.1 Reach, 10 Battle Queen, 31 Canoodled

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
