DAQMAN NOW 26 UP ON PRICEWISE: Daqman previews the free-to-air TV races at Newmarket and York, where he confronts Pricewise, with the score standing at Daqman 54, Pricewise 28

GO FOR JOY AGAIN AT BETDAQ 26.0: Daqman’s ante-post bet on tomorrow’s Cesarewitch, Lot Of Joy, remains a remarkable 26.0 each-way on BETDAQ Sportsbook under William Buick. Says our man: Go in again!

ALABAMA BOUND TO LIKE SOFT

⭕ 1.50 Newmarket (Cornwallis Stakes, 5f, 2yo Group 3) Stalls 2, 3 and 6 have won the last three sprints at HQ and 1, 2, 3 have won six of the last nine Cornwallis Stakes.

Inquisitively, from the one stall today, had Alabama (now in 4) only half a length behind in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot.

How badly drawn on the far side was Alabama in 2 is revealed in the stall numbers of the six others concerned in the finish: 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, 24.

He looked poised for revenge at York in August but was short of room two out. Since then he’s been sharpened up on the fast Dundalk circuit.

Inquisitively has performed on firm ground, and is bred for it but, sire and dam, Alabama, is from progeny that does well on the soft.

The threat to both out of gate 3 is Toca Madera, who has led at the minimum the last twice, including when run out of it by 118-rated Morny and Middle Park winner, Vandeek, on the soft at Goodwood.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 11.5 Alabama, 14.5 Toca Madera

OUTLOOK: A STRONG GALLOP

⭕ 2.40 York (1m 6f handicap) Insanity is by Nathaniel, a horse who showed sudden improvement from class 5 novice to Group success, and race-readers fancy the easy Ffos Las winner to be similarly progressive today at BETDAQ 6.2

Lordship moved 20lb up the ladder but found this class-2 level beyond him. A 12lb climb by The Goat also seems to have stalled his progress.

Tough galloper Urban Outlook (5.7 offers taken) can’t be ruled out and the rethink about Kingfisher King’s trip may pay off.

COFFEE POD’S ON THE BOIL

⭕ 3.00 Newmarket Last year’s winner, Pogo (withdrawn) was a couple of lengths down on Audience last time they met and has twice been beaten by Kinross, who narrowly held Audience on this course in August. So he’s a strong pointer in his absence.

⭕ 3.15 York (7f 2yo Sales-race Final) The Hannons have always attacked these Sales races and The Coffee Pod’s form has been brewed with this in mind. BETDAQ 7.6.

⭕ 3.50 York (Autumn Mile handicap) Hafeet Alain had a 90 rating four years back and hasn’t much moved either way.

Irish Lincoln winner Lattam (BETDAQ 6.0) has the rain just in time. Northern Express has run here 11 times and won three times.

Millebosc has won only his maiden, always a bad sign. Star Of Orion is hard to win with (just one strike in more than two years).

ALSAKIB SHOULD LIKE A TRIP

⭕ 3.35 Newmarket (Old Rowley Cup, 1m 4f handicap) The Gosden favourite, Humanity, got a level-stone thumping from the handicapper for back-to-back AW wins.

But it still leaves him on a decent mark in this handicap, getting lumps of weight from Satin and Westerton. Should act on soft but not on heavy.

Alan King, who had his 2,000th winner when Westerton scored on firm at Sandown in June, will no doubt be walking the course this morning. King won this with a certain Trueshan in 2019.

Jessica Harrington’s Australia filly Satin went clear of older horses, first-time blinkered, the last day.

However, all three of Humanity, Satin and Westerton are coming out of low stalls, which have been overtaken in five of the last seven seasons by high-drawn horses coming down the centre of the track.

That’s where you’ll find the consistent Alsakib (out of 10), who should handle the ground and enjoy the step up in trip. BETDAQ 4.6.

I think Laafi looks too big at 33.0: a winner on soft, third in the Newbury Spring Cup first run back after a gelding op.

FIRE ONE IN THE FILLIES MILE

⭕ 4.10 Newmarket (Fillies Mile, 2yo Group 1) Soft-ground Sandown scorer, Shuwari, may have the last laugh here, now the ground has softened.

She beat subsequent Moyglare winner, Fallen Angel, at the Curragh, before firm ground found her out, fresh from a break in the Rockfel. She finished second to Carla’s Way, with Ylang Ylang third, the three well spaced out.

Carla’s Way went down two lengths at Goodwood (soft) to Darnation, who then beat See The Fire in the May Hill.

Things didn’t go right that day for See The Fire (ran green, slightly hampered) and she should do better this time for Oisin Murphy at BETDAQ 7.4.
