QUALITY WEEK WITH FOUR NAPS UP: Daqman’s bets yesterday finished 32213 in consecutive races, the Quality scorer his Tipperary nap at 85-40, a three-lengths Listed winner, unchallenged. That gave him his fourth winning nap in a week, following a hat-trick at 7-2, 13-8 and 9-4 last Monday to Wednesday, so all odds against. This weekend’s winners.
Sunday
WON 85-40 SHE’S QUALITY (nap)
Saturday
WON 13-2 GLENFINNAN win-50 bull’s-eye bet
Friday
WON 17-2 HARB
WON 3-1 MIN HUNA
TODAY: Looking forward to a huge Coolmore pay-day. Bets from Brighton and Windsor to start the week.
WHERE THERE’S DIRT THERE’S GOLD
Seven million dollars! To think that maybe lowly Southwell could see it safely delivered into Coolmore’s hands!
The purse put up for the Breeders Cup Classic on Dirt is already in City Of Troy’s grasp if his pole position as clear favourite at Del Mar on November 2 is justified.
Justify has been the operative word all along, ever since Aidan O’Brien claimed this horse (sired by Justify) was the best he’d ever trained. Could he really justify that?
Winning the Epsom Derby and the Eclipse didn’t satisfy everyone so he started odds against for his sixth hit from seven starts. It was to be the fall of Troy doubters.
In a record-busting International at York, City Of Troy made all the running which shouted Breeders Cup style and Del Mar pace.
Ryan Moore, the best jockey since Lester Piggott (sorry, Frankie, you’re a close second) summed it up when he subdued the usual silly questions by chummy on ITV, as he walked the winner in: ‘Let the horse speak for himself.’
It should have been one of those moments of awe: silence before a controlled crescendo of applause.. followed ultimately by murmured disbelief.
But ‘what’s next’ is forever the cry, whether you’re Manchester City or Djokovic; they can’t wait for you to win again; they can’t wait to be tearful if you lose and tell the fans ‘it’s all over now.’
Any snag with City Of Troy? There’s always a catch among footballers and tennis stars that can transform ‘immortal’ into ‘only human’.
City of Troy – ‘only flesh and blood;’ that’s the one for horses!- must now switch from turf to Dirt, checking his adaptability on some of the all-weather stuff that we have in England.
And that could mean a trip to Southwell, local to Rolleston Junction but not far from East Midlands airport. Aidan O’Brien has used the tapeta track before to test his turf stars on good old British dirt.
The racecourse blurb about Southwell could have been written for the occasion: ‘The perfect equivalent of a left-hand American track.’
And Del Mar? Says the American Daily Racing Form: ‘It so favours front-runners that the question of bias arises every year.’
ZUMI TO ZOOM HOME
⭕ 3.20 Brighton Another day of seven races, single digit field sizes at Brighton where the best bet on the card could be Irezumi in this 10 furlong handicap.
This looks no tougher than the course and distance event he bolted up in last month and the 4lb rise is unlikely to stop a follow-up against generally out of form rivals.
Look for a late move from him as he’s not the tardiest out of the stalls but he goes well for 3lb claimer Luke Catton who is well used to his running style.
Gallimimus won over course and distance in July but is 24280-88275559 since then and I can afford to miss his wins.
A bigger danger may come from Red Evelyn who was at double figure odds on the morning Betdaq Betting Exchange market. She is a three-time winner on the all-weather but has hinted at ability on the turf and off a career joint low mark could make her presence felt in a weak contest.
DREAM RESULT
⭕ 4.20 Brighton Just the five runners here and they are all in the course and distance winning club!
Nelson Rose made all to win here two starts ago and then found the new mark a bit much when fourth on the all-weather subsequently at Southwell. The return to the seaside course should be a positive.
A meeting here seldom goes by without a Tony Carroll trained winner but Alfred Cove would need to improve considerable on his effort here yesterday when beaten eight and a half lengths. He’s still a runner today at the time of writing.
I’ll chance Bear To Dream who hasn’t got as many recent miles on the clock as his rivals and won nicely here last time out.
A BOB FINISH
⭕ 7.00 Windsor Bobacious has started favourite in all four of his recent starts – winning just one of them at Brighton but is holding his form well and the combination of trip and ground look optimum.
Even in a weak contest it’s hard to muster up much enthusiasm for the well bred Andrew Balding trained filly Upton who has been beaten 15, 12 and 9 lengths in her last three efforts including her switch to handicap company on her latest effort.
Mr Zee was also well beaten here last time out and the main danger may come from Milvus who remains a 0-15 maiden but went his closest yet when third here last time out.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
