37 WINNING NAPS FOR DAQMAN: After Captain Guinness (2nd 6-1) and Moroder (2nd 16-1) on Saturday, Daqman’s attack of seconditis continued yesterday when Urban Sprawl (2nd 5-1) and Abduction (2nd 6-1 from BETDAQ 11.0) were both runners-up. But his nap, Elim (nap, WON 15-8 from BETDAQ 3.55) saved the day. That was winning nap number 37 for the year so far.

TODAY: BANK HOLIDAY BETS: Classy racing at The Curragh and Bank Holiday bets in England.

ALL THE WEEK: Classic countdown to the Guineas.

BOLD PICK AGAINST O’BRIEN

⭕ 2.25 Curragh (Tetrarch Stakes) This is not a Ballydoyle race; not a single Aidan O’Brien winner to be seen in the decade.

Paddington could change all that and step up from a convincing handicap success the last day at Naas.

But word has it that Jessica Harrington’s Bold Discovery has bloomed into an ‘exciting’ colt over the winter with a big-race career in mind.

Maybe I’m just adding to my sequence of seconds but his BETDAQ 5.1 against Paddington’s odds-on bears scrutiny in the market.

⭕ 2.44 Windsor Sir Michael Stoute has a 46% (6-13) strike rate just now and I risk another second favourite, Pumalin Park to defy a penalty, as the only winner in the field so far. BETDAQ 3.75.

STAR GIRLS SET TO SHINE

⭕ 3.35 Curragh (Athasi Stakes) Three-year-olds have won eight of the last 10 but seem overwhelmed here unless cheekpieces make a big difference to the second-season fillies, Small Oasis and Clever And Cool.

Agartha was well behind Insinuendo (see below) in the Park Express (bad ground) last month but drops back a furlong on a drying day.

I thought Agartha might lead here but one new to the stable the last day, Honey Girl, made the running in heavy ground at the Curragh.

Honey Girl finished six lengths behind Agartha at Tipperary in August but that was after playing up badly at the start.

Joseph O’Brien will want to see further improvement in the bad behaviour that let her down under Henry de Bromhead; it was only her maiden she won starting out for him last month.

De Bromhead himself runs Irish 1,000 Guineas and Jersey Stakes fourth Star Girls Aalmal in this, with her recent run on the course setting her up for action.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 5.7 Star Girls Aalmal

JOSEPH THROWS CURVED BALL

⭕ 4.10 Curragh (Mooresbridge Stakes) A super-dominating seven out of 10 in this for Aidan O’Brien, six of them odds-on favourite.

Arc winner Sotsass, who we talked about yesterday, now stands at Coolmore, so this race is now the Sotsass Mooresbridge.

Arc seventh Luxembourg – he was injured in the stalls that day – is back to his Irish Champion Stakes winning trip, and the question is whether the Group-1 penalty will bother him.

He is clear of the others on the ratings, but on one line – through Insinuendo – Above The Curve could be troublesome.

Above The Curve, trained by Joseph O’Brien, beat Insinuendo a neck, giving 3lb, in the Blandford last year.

Earlier, Insinuendo gave Luxembourg 5lb and went down only a neck in the Royal Whip (good ground); there’s an 11lb turnaround today .

BETDAQ value 7.0 Above The Curve (ask for evens saver Luxembourg)

CREAK A WINDSOR SPECIALIST

⭕ 3.54 Windsor The ground has been heavy here and Amazonian Dream, Lequinto and The Green Man show winning form on sound surfaces.

Tolstoy and Tyger Bay have won with cut but I prefer Windsor specialist Indian Creak.

Indian Creak’s career course form at Windsor is 2411102100, one of them on soft and three of them over the CD. Had a run back here just 14 days before this. BETDAQ 4.4.

⭕ 4.29 Windsor Shamekh has been off for 278 days but seems to mean business in first-time hood for James Ferguson’s stable in form.

Shamekh is a Godolphin cast-off who has won on firm but his sire, New Bay, could get them home on the soft (20%).

Richard P Smith has won at Windsor on soft ground but in company two grades lower.

Fast Steps’ sire, Footsteps In The Sand, won a Group 1 on the soft, and the five-year-old has Oisin Murphy in the saddle for the first time. BETDAQ 5.5.

⭕ 4.43 Bath Jim Boyle had good-priced winners last week at Brighton and Epsom (13-2 and 5-1 SP) but has a better strike rate on another turning track, this one.

Marlay Park, who broke his maiden here, was beaten a neck on soft at Epsom in early September and won there two weeks later. He reappeared 11 days ago.

BETDAQ 14.0 looked a gift win and place in a straight-eight field but we’ve lost one.
