HOLIDAY ONE OVER THE EIGHT? Daqman made it eight winners in five days at 9-2 yesterday, including a Saturday nap, a win-50 bull’s-eye bet and winners at 14-1 and 25-1. He hopes to celebrate with a Bank Holiday glass or two today with outsiders today, taken at BETDAQ 11.0, 14.0 (twice) and 18.5.

WON 9-2 GODWINSON (Sunday)
WON 15-8 GOODWOOD ODYSSEY (Saturday nap)

WON 10-1 JM JUNGLE (Wednesday)

GOOD BETDAQ OUTSIDER

⭕ 3.17 Epsom Adam West trained the winner of this last year with 10st 2lb off 82 and, just a pound different, he looks Good Too for today!

Good Too was favourite and doing well at this distance on this course on this ground in July.

He was fourth, beaten only a length by Friday’s class-2 York runner-up, Lieber Power, giving the winner 2lb. Clearly likes the quirks of the track and cheekpieces first time will help, dropped back from class 2. BETDAQ 18.5

DON’T FORGET GODOLPHIN

⭕ 3.47 Ripon Rowels He’s the forgotten man. You hear very little about Saeed Bin Suroor in these days of the high-stakes Godolphin operation built around Charlie Appleby at Newmarket, with a team that spans four continents, notably in Dubai.

But he still has a small string and the same superb strike rate: currently 27% this year with 11 winners from 41 starts.

He is bang on that percentage at Ripon in the last five years and Major Partnership, his only player there so far in 2024, fits the profile of first-run-back strikes by the stable. BETDAQ 14.0.

Back-to-back winner in the Spring, Watcha Matey has scored at 7f, 1m and 1m 1f, too versatile to be condemned by a few extra pounds in the handicap. BETDAQ 6.0.

PROFESSIONAL AMATEURS

⭕ 3.52 Epsom (Gentleman Amateurs’ Derby) Simon Walker has ridden the winner of this twice in six years and so was sought after for Ralph Beckett’s Lord Melbourne, a close fourth in better company (class 2) at Ascot. BETDAQ 3.2

But the stats record no winner of this in the decade with any more than 11st 6lb.

Form figures of 222121 has seen Gordon Grey climb the ratings 11lb and he made all in the Ladies’ Derby here at Epsom in July. Betdaq Betting Exchange 5.4

MORRISON-MURPHY TEAM

⭕ 4.25 Epsom Hughie Morrison took this three years in a row, 2018-21, among the winners a four-year-old out of gate 4, ridden by Oisin Murphy.

Is it a Lunatick bet, this deja-vu four-year-old drawn 4 for Morrison and partnered by Murphy? BETDAQ 4.2

Amancio had four engagements this week and Jack Channon chose this one, despite the presence of Big Bear Hug, who beat him here at Epsom in July.

They meet again off similar marks but with one big difference: Amancio’s best form is his impressive success at Haydock on soft ground. BETDAQ 4.9

Unreal Connection always runs well here at Epsom but his sole success was at this meeting last year when she broke her maiden. Always a bad sign. Crimson Spirit is also a maiden-only winner.

SO IT’S GIORGIO BOUGHEY

⭕ 5.00 Epsom Three-year-olds dominate (80%) and the market speaks volumes (70% of winners finished 7-4 to 5-1 at SP).

Punters were not so much backing horses as backing the draw. Winners railed the 7f from, consecutively, gates 2, 3, 3, 2, 6, 1, 4, 1, 8, so seven out of nine from the first four stalls.

The field is twice the usual size but there’s just the one three-year-old, Giorgio M (BETDAQ 11.5), out of gate 5 for George Boughey, who landed a hat-trick across the cards the last day they were racing at Epsom, including an 11-2 winner.

Malcolm Saunders saddled Redredrobin a winner on each Epsom card in July and early August, both over 7f, one on soft. The mare was drawn 2 for the first win, 3 for the second, 6 today. BETDAQ 8.8

Guiteau (stall 3 today) has Epsom form of 213 but has to defy a high mark. The overnight punt, Capote’s Dream (stall 1) has dropped a stone or so in the last year. BETDAQ 14.0

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
