ONE OVER THE EIGHT TIPPING HANGOVER! After eight days of winning naps and profits (see yesterday’s column), the bubble burst for Daqman yesterday in that most painful of ways, the punters’ nightmare of seconds and thirds seemingly so close to big hits: 8-1 and 9-2 places in the same race then a head defeat for the nap.

BANBRIDGE (Arkle Trial, Saturday) Led three times in the race; immaculate jumper; good one at the last and ran to the line. Not want deep ground. Race won previously by Le Prezien and Dodging Bullets. New FORTUNE COOKIE.
DOES HE KNOW (Jewson Handicap Chase, Sunday) quirky sort but decided to co-operate and put his field to the sword off top-weight of 12st. Not a National horse.
HERMES ALLEN (Ballymore Novices Hurdle, Friday) made all and hammered some smart prospects nine lengths. New FORTUNE COOKIE.
I LIKE TO MOVE IT (Greatwood Hurdle, Sunday) led three times in the race; won going away, though only five and set 12st.
NUBE NEGRA (Cheltenham Chase, Sunday): made virtually all, went clear of small field; previous winners of this chase include Sprinter Sacre and Sceau Royal; Nube Negra completed a hat-trick in the race, so ranks alongside them.
THE REAL WHACKER (novice chase, Sunday): made virtually all; race won in the past by Thistlecrack and Wholestone.
UNANSWERED PRAYERS (novices’ handicap chase, Friday): the only one making his chasing debut but outclassed the experienced horses and must be followed. New FORTUNE COOKIE.
NOTES LOOK GOOD FOR TIMEFORATUNE
⭕ 2.00 Exeter Paul Nicholls is on losing stretch of seven! I only comment as that’s quite a long run given his terrific start to the season and the longer range stats show he’s had 17 winners from his last 40 runners.
He should strike here with Timeforatune who may have a fitness edge over the majority of his rivals on Betdaq Betting Exchange .
He was said to have needed the run on his reappearance at Chepstow where he finished a fairly well beaten fourth to Pikar on his hurdling debut.
Today’s race looks an easier assignment and he can now put that experience to good use and build on the quality he showed in the bumpers sphere where he won a Listed bumper at Cheltenham last November.
Western General and Aldsworth are both making their hurdling debuts having shown promise on debut runs in a point and bumper respectively.
I’m probably be more worried about the Philip Hobbs trained Far Sight who made a pleasing enough start when winning a bumper at Newton Abbot back in the summer and again gets good ground this afternoon.
STREET’S AHEAD
⭕ 6.00 Wolverhampton Not a bad contest by ‘Monday at Wolverhampton’ standards and this class 2 handicap can go the way of Street Kid.
Trained by Kevin Philippart De Foy, the four-year-old is a dual course and distance winner here and has run well in two starts since coming back off a lengthy break.
Having been beaten a head and a neck in his last two races (the last one also a class 2) he should just have to repeat those efforts to gain a well-earned success.
Documenting let supporters down when a beaten favourite last time out and probably needs more help than the single pound offered by the handicapper.
Cry Havoc bids for a hat-trick but would do well off a 4lb higher mark for her latest nose success. The mare probably still rates the danger though with William Buick riding for the first time.
⭕ 8.30 Wolverhampton A tricky finale but Siofra caught my eye last time out and might be worth a small play.
The George Scott trained filly was staying on nicely in the closing stages over 1m 4f at Southwell despite meeting some trouble in the run. She shapes as though this first try over 1m 6f will be very much in her favour.
It’s also her first visit to Wolverhampton but she seems top handle the artificial surface well.
