SWAFFHAM TO GO ONE BETTER

2.10 Fakenham Swaffham Bulbeck was only just caught in the dying strides over course and distance in January and was a nose away from losing his maiden status. The winner of that race, Havana Hermano, ran well in better company at Huntingdon next time out when third. The form looks solid enough and this doesn’t look a tough contest.

BETDAQ ambassador Harry Whittington saddles Zanzi Win who was well held at Ludlow when fourth last time out but it came in much stronger contest and his chance at this level has to be respected. He is also having his first start since wind surgery.

Arch My Boy was an eight length winner on the flat at Nottingham and finished 15th in last season’s Champion Bumper at Cheltenham. He makes his hurdles debut here and it’s tricky trying to predict what to expect – given he comes into this on the back of a disappointing run at Wolverhampton last time out.

3.55 Southwell A class 3 handicap hurdle is the pick of the action on the Southwell card and it features a very interesting handicap debutant in the Harry Fry trained Captain Drake.

The trainer is in pretty good form with 4/18 over the past two weeks and Captain Drake is back after a break.

He was last seen when winning in heavy ground at Uttoxeter in December but also proved he could handle better conditions when third at Aintree earlier in his career. He is lightly raced, should be progressive and this doesn’t look an overly onerous handicap mark.

Tomkevi won this last year and is currently on a hat-trick after wins at Wetherby and Haydock but it looks a tougher renewal this year and he is a full stone higher in the weights this time around.

6.45 Wolverhampton Modest racing tonight with the obvious exception being this class 2 handicap.

The in form Mootasadir is on a roll but looks a little skinny in the market for a horse that is shooting up the handicap.

I’ll take a chance with Kelly’s Dino who is back after a break and a successful turf campaign. He also has winning form here at Wolverhampton and hopefully will be wound up and give the favourite plenty to think about.

Fearsome didn’t get the run of the race at Lingfield last time out which ended his sequence of four wins in a row but still rates a big danger here.

DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 20 points):
BET 14.5pts win (nap) SWAFFHAM BULBECK (2.10 Fakenham)
BET 11.5pts win CAPTAIN DRAKE (3.55 Southwell)
BET 4.4pts win KELLY’S DINO (6.45 Wolverhampton)
