ARC MARKETS IN A WHIRL
Jockeys dream day. Even a Mickael Barzalona four-timer in Paris yesterday was dwarfed by Oisin Murphy and Maxime Guyon as they put Arc trialists in the spotlight.
The fast-run Prix Foy test at Longchamp was set up for stamina by first Ballydoyle’s Los Angeles then last year’s Arc fourth, Sosie.
The result was an explosive burst by Murphy on 112-10 Japanese outsider Byzantine Dream but he remains an Arc long-shot after the Vermeille fillies’ trial.
Aventure, last year’s Arc runner-up to Bluestocking, was produced down the outside by Maxime Guyon to go right to the front of this year’s market for the big race on October 5.
In Germany, Goliath returned to winning form in the Grand Prix at Baden-Baden, beating the seven-year-old William Haggas favourite Dubai Honour, who had to be switched for room by Tom Marquand.
Disappointment of the dream day was Oaks runner-up Whirl, who finished stone last to Aventure, weakening after a mile under Christopher Soumillon, the chosen deputy for Ballydoyle in the absence of injured Ryan Moore.
FINDING SOME MONDAY RHYTHM
⭕ 4.34 Windsor Decent sized fields by the Thames this afternoon but in the main it looks a very trappy card.
Panelli was heading the morning on Betdaq Betting Exchange market for this class 4 mile handicap. He represents trainer George Boughey who has hit form and had a nice winner at Ascot on Friday in El Vamos who was partnered by today’s pilot Billy Loughnane.
I’m just wary of Panelli’s overall form though. He remains a maiden after 11 starts and is now up in the weights after a promising Thirsk second last time out when tried in the first time cheekpieces. In short, not a bet for me, especially at the top of the market.
I’ll take two against him. Dalmally drops to a career low mark and has shaped reasonably well in four starts this year – the best of which in form terms was his Sandown fourth place in a class 3 event. He’s a confirmed front runner and I always think Windsor suits those that like to bowl along from the front.
At bigger odds Tribal Rhythm is more speculative but he won well at Epsom in April and his two defeats since can be excused on class grounds as they both came at class 2 level at Epsom and Sandown. Back in calmer waters with a 2lb drop from the handicapper he looks interesting.
AMBITIOUS HOPES
⭕ 5.29 Lingfield Sticking with a one mile handicap, this time on the all-weather at Lingfield.
Dennis Coakley (trainer of Tribal Rhythm) looks to have a solid chance with My Ambition. Oisin Murphy is back onboard for the first time since the partnership scored at Bath last year and despite no success from eight starts since he might be freshened up by a return to the all-weather
It’s pretty much basement level stuff though so ‘my ambition’ is no more than a WIN 10 return on the Daq.
NAPPING MY MATE
⭕ 6.22 Galway There was plenty to like about the chasing debut of My Great Mate here in July when he was beaten by King Of Kingsfield – a 143-rated hurdler.
He only tired close home and there doesn’t look to be any rivals here lurking with the similar ability of King Of Kingsfield.
The exception being Rocky’s Diamond who was fourth in the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival before disappointing at Punchestown. He makes the market for me here and whilst respectful of his hurdles form I think this trip might be on the sharp side on his chasing debut.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
