HARRY’S THE LAD IN HOT FORM
⭕ 2.20 Hereford Copshill Lad scored on his reappearance run last October on his debut for Harry Derham. Seems sure to be fit first time again, with Derham’s form on the stable’s last three trips to the races a sizzling 1211101. Around 2-1, the nap.

★ BETDAQ 10pts to win 20 COPSHILL LAD (nap)
⭕ 4.20 Hereford Famoso ran a stinker before winning this race last year and going on to land a hat-trick.
Though down to within a pound of his mark that day, and a winner 10lb higher since, he is ignored again at 11.5 on BETDAQ this morning after a poor effort last time out.
BETDAQ 2pts to win 20 FAMOSO
⭕ 7.15 Southwell Sea The Stars filly Shumus has been placed in all three qualifying starts for this, her handicap debut.
Seven of trainer Charles Hills last eight runners – two winners among them – have been placed, including a superb effort by Khaadem, third at 14-1 in the Breeders Cup Sprint.
Shumus was a tasty 9.9 in Betdaq Betting Exchange offers taken this morning to boost the stable’s eyecatching 64-point level-stakes profit at Southwell.
BETDAQ 2.75pts to win 24 SHUMUS
EVERYTHING RIGHT FOR RIFFA
🇦🇺 4.00 am Flemington tomorrow (Melbourne Cup) Going forecast: soft. No favourite has won since 2010. Winners in the last five years include 20-1, 25-1 and 90-1.
DRAW: Seven winners out of 10 drawn 12 to 21. AGE: 5 or 6 are 6-10.
TRAINERS: Joseph O’Brien (2); one each Charlie Appleby, Ciaran Maher, Chris Waller, Gai Waterhouse.
JOCKEYS: Mark Zahra 2; one each Robbie Dolan, James Macdonald, Kerrin McEvoy, Blake Shinn and Craig Williams.
AL RIFFA Trainer’s won it twice; jockey’s won it twice! And Al Riffa is on a hat-trick after landing the Curragh Cup and the Irish St Leger, before that runner-up at Royal Ascot to dual Breeders Cup winner Royal Romance, second to Ethical Diamond on Saturday. Stall 19 is perfect, too.
ABSURDE is what they said about Willie Mullins ‘running a hurdler’ in the Breeders Cup but Ethical Diamond had already switched from jumping and bolted up in the Ebor.
Willie now bids for an absurd double with the horse of that name who switched from taking the County Hurdle at Cheltenham last year to fifth in the Melbourne Cup and back to obstacles to win the Sussex Champion Hurdle. Badly drawn in 6 last year and, similarly, in 4 tomorrow morning.
HALF YOURS drawn low in 8 and penalised for winning the Caulfield Cup from River Of Stars and Valiant King (short of room). Presage Nocturne (not clear run) 4th, Royal Supremacy (impeded) 5th, Absurde (not clear run) finished well in 7th. Meydaan (carried wide) 9th, Middle Earth 11th.
FURTHER (Andrew Balding) second in the Queens Vase and won the Geoffrey Freer, is a 3yo off a similar weight to Rekindling, who won this for Joseph O’Brien in 2017 (drawn 4) after running 4th in the St Leger; Further (stall 7 today) was 6th in the St Leger. Best form on firm but sire won the Arc on very soft.
FLATTEN THE CURVE (six wins out of seven), drawn 17, slammed Tawny Port nearly six lengths in the Bowling Green Gold Cup (2m) at Kentucky in August. Tawny Port nearly eight lengths 9th off Ethical Diamond in the Breeders Cup.
DAQMAN’S verdict: AL RIFFA has trainer, jockey, top-class form and draw all on his side.
MEYDAAN and FURTHER have had this race as their long-term plan, though rain might spoil it for Meydaan whereas it would help hampered Caulfield Cup fourth, PRESAGE NOCTURNE, a tough and ultra-consistent stayer in France.
* Win-50 bull’s-eye bets:
8pts win Al Riffa, 7pts win Presage Nocturne, 1.75pts win and place Further.
What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
