UPSWING SCORES AFTER BOGEY SECONDS: Daqman’s seconditis continued yesterday. After two 16-1 seconds at Aintree, including in the National, he watched banker Alice Springs surge to the front at Naas, only to be mugged on the line. Then 9.4 BETDAQ gamble Abricot L’Oasis (2nd 4-1) was run out of it by the saver, Upswing, and Success Days (2nd 11-4) made it five seconds in 24 hours. At least he was able to sink two winners and beat the bogey:

Kruz missile ready to launch! After Scotland snatched the English National, Paul and Clare Rooney – who have horses with a dozen trainers – are hopeful of revenge across the border in the Scottish Grand National on April 22.
Their very smart Willoughby Court (Ben Pauling) won the Neptune at Cheltenham, and Starchitect (David Pipe) was placed at Aintree, though The Last Samuri (Kim Bailey) lost out in the big’un.
Now they are looking to the Scottish National with Kruzhlinin (Philip Hobbs), who swerved the Liverpool marathon and is very much a ‘hidden horse.’
Reason: he has dedicated much of his career to Aintree (form figures there 4400P3), seventh in the 2014 Becher, puled up in the 2016 National.
Finally, trainer Hobbs declared: ‘He’s been to Aintree three times over the National fences. It’s not really his job so he won’t do it again.’
In the middle of his dedication to Aintree, Kruzhlinin won a Graded hurdle at Haydock on a sound surface and a class-2 chase at Kempton, all of which suggests a speedy flat track like Ayr might be right up his street
He won twice at the Perth Spring Meetings on top of the ground when with Nigel Twiston-Davies and at Carlisle and Kelso (three times) for Donald McCain.
A trip to Scotland will have a familiar feel about it for a horse who deserves his chance to shine and leave Liverpool failure behind, still only 10.
HUSSAR TO SEE OFF MONDAY BLUES
3.20 Redcar Redicean holds an entry in the Irish 2000 Guineas later this season which would lead you to believe that he is held in high regard by connections but traditionally Peter Chapple-Hyam’s horses improve for a run which makes him opposable. Preference instead at the prices is for Lord Commander who ran a race full of promise on his only start last season. He is stepped up in trip today which should be a help for this son of Nayef whose progeny improve with time. The 3.35 available on BETDAQ could look generous come post time.
3.40 Kelso Blue Hussar was formerly a smart horse on the flat and looks to be getting the hang of hurdles based on his last performance at Wetherby. Being by the late-great Montjeu he should appreciate this bit of better ground and on official ratings he has a great chance of winning this. Micky Hammond has been among the winners recently and at 1.7 he looks like a banker for the day.
6.45 Tramore Presenting Julio made a very promising start for this yard last time and will be fancied by many to go a couple better today but despite being a winner on the flat he has looked shy of tactical speed over fences which could be an issue on this track. Dr Waluigi is another stepping up in trip and he comes from a yard that loves to have winners at this track. Over the last 5 seasons the Eoin Doyle yard has a 15% strike rate and a +£29.5 LSP at Tramore and Dr Waluigi looks another likely type. He should have the early speed to stay handy, which was crucial at this track yesterday and with Barry-John Foley taking off a very useful 7lbs he looks to have a solid chance at 5.6 on BETDAQ.
