NAP IS NO MYTH
⭕ 1.30 Leicester A couple of interesting class 3 races on Monday’s card with this two-year-old event looking the most interesting. No surprise that I’m drawn in by the Charlie Appleby runner Mythical Dancer. With 13 winners from their last 32 runners you’d even have to have a second glance at the stable cat at the moment!
Mythical Dancer comes into this on the back of winning on debut at Thirsk. He ran green that day, especially at the start, and only got up on the post to beat a previous winner with the pair finishing nicely clear. He should improve bundles for that effort and is taken to defy his penalty.
Carbon is more experienced with three starts and ran his best race yet over course and distance last time out when collared on the line by New Dimension. That was a good effort and the Roger Varian trained runner looks the obvious danger to Mythical Dancer who remains the more progressive of the pair.
It’s quite hard to assess the chances of the Richard Hannon / Oisin Murphy runner who made a pleasing debut at Brighton over this trip. But it came in a four runner race and none of the other three have been out again since. As a general rule I tend not to overvalue Brighton form and in this case I think the value of the form looks modest.
CELSIUS LOOKS WARM
⭕ 3.10 Leicester The second of the class 3 events on the card is this handicap over the minimum trip. Celsius is a slightly tentative play given he’s now on a run of 12 without a win but he is a class dropped who has been given a big chance by the handicapper.
He’s down another couple of pounds from his last start when fourth in what looked a better race at Ascot. He slept in the stalls that day and also lost a shoe in the race so is probably value for more than the 3 1/4 lengths he was officially beaten by.
The last time he ran off today’s mark (79) he won a competitive Glorious Goodwood sprint handicap back in 2019.
There are a couple of negatives which means we are probably getting better than expected odds on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE. Firstly trainer form: Tom Clover is 37 without a win and secondly Celsius is in stall 1 which is a more minor worry as there is a slight preference to higher drawn horses over this trip.
BACK TO BASICS
⭕ 7.00 Wolverhampton This could be another Monday winner for the boys in blue but this time with the Saeed bin Suroor axis.
Basic Beauty doesn’t look harshly treated on her opening handicap mark. She has hinted at ability on the all-weather and although comprehensively brushed aside by Beholding (beaten an eased down 10 lengths) at Lingfield last time she still pulled six lengths clear of the third. Beholding followed up by winning by even further (12 lengths) at Kempton last week although that distance was exaggerated due to a sad fall in the race.
