14.0 TIME SECOND IN BIG RACE: Daqman put up Vazirabad for the Prix Royal Oak big race at Saint-Cloud yesterday but regarded Endless Time as the win-and-place value in the race at 14.0 on BETDAQ. Result: Vazirabad won, with Endless Time second at 12-1. He also had another lay up: Three Musketeers (unplaced 7-4 favourite) at Aintree.

DAQMAN IS 42 WINS IN FRONT: Though Daqman had the two returns yesterday, only the race in which he made a profit counts in the value battle with Pricewise, so that the score is now Daqman 79, Pricewise 37. In a blanket finish at Wincanton, his nap Courtlands Prince was demoted to third at 6-4.

TODAY’S ACTION: Leicester hosts a smart card this afternoon with two good quality handicaps that Daqman has set his sights on. Also in Ayr he has spotted a good opportunity for a trainer in unstoppable form of late.

TWO FLAT ‘WILD’ CARDS TO FOLLOW

Start listing your horses to follow! Yes, of course for the Jumps. But I also mean for next year’s Flat season.

It’s like this: I do not advocate ante-post bets on the Guineas and Derby but I do think you should make a note of handicappers and those in big-field maidens you’ve spotted in recent weeks on the Flat.

Late developers at this time of year often continue their progress at the start of the following Flat (turf) season.

Find a race in which you can locate solid form, or in which young improvers in a big field leave most of the runners adrift.

Just such a race was Saturday’s 1m 4f handicap at Doncaster, in which the first six finished eight lengths clear of the rest of the field.

One or more of those could win before the season is out, one or more may develop in the Spring. My two would be:

T0 BE WILD (first): Fancied for the St Leger but pulled muscles. Having only his third start here for Hugo Palmer.

Once he was given the office, sprinted clear of what seems a smart field. The colt could be another cog in the wheel of fortune of his winning jockey, Josephine Gordon.

UAE PRINCE (sixth): Both on the Channel-4 Morning Line and interviewed before the race, Andrea Atzeni could not hide his excitement about the colt. Whipped across the face in the closing stages or might have finished closer.

I can see this Sheikh Mohammed three-year-old being very smart on grass next year but not before he tries the manmade terrain of Meydan during the winter, perhaps. ‘A stakes horse for next season,’ says trainer Roger Varian.

‘ELY’ GIVEN BREEDERS’ CUP FANFARE

williamhaggasRivet, Rivet! The frog became a prince when he won the Racing Post Trophy on Saturday for the William Haggas (pictured) team.

But has some of the champagne stayed in the bottle for Friday at Newmarket, when the stable may run a Frankel colt called Elyaasaat, out of a mare that goes back to The Queen’s daughter of Bustino, Height Of Fashion, dam of the 1989 Guineas and Derby winner, Nashwan.

So far, it’s two-year-old fillies that are best showing the traits of the formidable Frankel: the winner and third in the Lowther Stakes, Queen Kindly and Fair Eva.

But somewhere in the Frankel first crop could yet be his first Classic colt, and – though unraced – Elyaasaat has been given a prominent position in the official Breeders Cup juveniles guide!

Is this the hidden horse among the two-year-olds this season? Or will there be a bonfire of the vanities when he makes (or misses?) his debut on Friday, and flies or fails to get to Santa Anita for November 5. Whatever; someone thinks something of Sheikh Hamdan’s Elyaasaat for unknown reasons.

MONDAY: A BANKEROTTI AT LEICESTER

3.15 Leicester A good quality handicap for a Monday afternoon here and preference is for Beach Bar who was a winner over this course and distance in a similar event last year. He made all that day and will be likely to try the same tactics again under top apprentice Joesphine Gordon. El Vip is sure to be popular with punters given his connections but he hasn’t looked the most straightforward customers to date and is best watched for the time being. An early price of 6.0 on BETDAQ looks fair and a win play is advised.

4.20 Leicester Another good race here for the Sir Gordon Richards Handicap and Buonarroti appeals most under Ryan Moore. A classy type when the race is run to suit he looks likely to get his preferred strong gallop here with the likes of Noble Gift, Fattsota, Dashing Star and John Reel all capable of going forward. He will be delivered late by Moore and at an early show of 4.7 he could be too good for his rivals here.

2.30 Ayr Ckalco Des Loges was impressive on his debut in a point-to-point but the form of that looks pretty weak so a short price doesn’t appeal too much here. Mr Monochrome has a bumper win to his name and will have race fitness on his side and looks the one to be with at 3.95 on BETDAQ at the time of writing. Malcolm Jefferson has his yard in tremendous form with five winners and four seconds from his last ten runners and he has a solid combination with Brian Hughes with a 22% strike rate this season.

DAQMAN’S BETS
BACK 8pts win MR MONOCHROME (Ayr 2.30)
BACK 5pts win BEACH BAR (3.15 Leicester)
BANKER: BACK 10pts win BUONAROTTI (NAP) (Leicester 4.20)
