9-2 BEST OF THREE FOR DAQMAN: Daqman had three returns from five races at The Curragh yesterday with win bets on Parish Hall (WON 9-2) and Mimicking (WON 2-1), and win-and-place Cable Bay (3rd 8-1).
BETDAQ RACES BACK AT KEMPTON: Betdaq today launches a new sponsorship series of races at Kempton Park throughout the year, jumps and AW Flat, starting ‘over the sticks’ this afternoon.
DOUBLE DOUBLE-WHAMMY BID ON BETDAQ DAY
1.45 Kempton (Betdaq.com £20 Free Bet Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle): Saffron Prince is being asked to give weight all round, despite his twice having to move back to novice company to get into the prizemoney.
Mr Lando is consistent at this level but that has cost him a stone rise in the last two months, and he’s finished runner-up three races out of four.
Dormouse is another regular bridesmaid, and he’s 10 years old now. Sometimes gets himself too far behind.
Sussex Champion Hurdle fourth, The Green Ogre, has only once been successful and that was on heavy ground. But, taking his claim into account he’s nearly a stone lower here and has been placed twice with George Gorman up.
Songsmith hasn’t won for three years. He was well supported on his return from holiday a fortnight ago, back to a reasonable handicap mark and with a sound surface to suit. No joy.
Coyaba swerved a planned handicap debut because good ground was thought unsuitable, and he’s been beaten a total of 162 lengths in his last five starts. Yet he’s favourite this morning. In a handicap. On good ground.
2.20 Kempton (Cash Out On The Betdaq+ App ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle) It’s 13.5 bar the front pair in the BETDAQ market this morning. That pair both look exposed, which means – we hope – that we can take collateral form into account.
Mad Jack Mytton was 14 lengths off Some Buckle at Southwell before Nicolas Chauvin was 11 lengths behind the same horse at Doncaster in the race won by Glingerburn. Yet Mad Jack is favourite. We’ll lay him and back Nicolas Chauvin and attempt another double whammy.
2.55 Kempton (Betdq.com Commission Free Football on Saturdays Novices’ Handicap Chase) Only Lucy Wadham, Nigel Hawke and Ian Williams have landed a single winner in the last fortnight’s racing. The others are all out of form.
Etania and Forresters Folly are the chase winners in the field and Etania, trained by Williams, looks a fair choice here, though the mare’s Stratford win was the first success of her career.
Baldadash is another on whom we can’t rely to reproduce sudden winning form of 16 days ago.
Joint jolly this morning was Pagham Belle, who had been a bit of thinker until she turned the corner in a trio of hurdles races in March (won two), which took her up 18lb in the handicap. That means she must start chasing here off 95.
The handicapper was even harsher on Road To Freedom. The one good hurdle run of her life – second at Towcester around a year ago – gave her a 108 rating and she’s shown nothing over fences in three starts since off that sort of mark.
Experimentalist, on the other hand, is 12lb lower than his winning hurdles mark and clearly wouldn’t have to be any great shakes over fences to beat this lot: 8.0 on BETDAQ this morning.
4.00 Kempton (Betdaq.com 50% Commission Refund Handicap Chase) I would normally swerve the older horses but American Spin (CD at Kempton) and Flaming Gorge both won at this time a year or so ago, while Representingceltic won here (hit by a 12lb rise) in March.
American Spin is huge at 14.0 this morning, down in the weights to within 4lb of the Kempton win a grade higher than today, 11lb lower than his pentulimate chase start and 11lb below a Grade-2 hurdle try in November.
Shy John returned to winning form on the last day, and was capable of putting back-to-back wins together in 2014. Harrys Farewell was not and his punishment for scoring at Wincanton in March is to be lofted 11lb higher than that winning mark.
It’s hard to find anything in the field to trust so I’ll try a bit of American Spin, win and place, with Leighton Aspell booked.
4.30 Kempton (Betdaq £200 Games Bonus Handicap Hurdle) Nicky Henderson won this last year and he wants it again, giving himself two chances, with his One Lucky lady likely favourite, though she hasn’t won a hurdles race for nearly two years.
Long Lunch and Top Cat Henry are the only others with a single-figure offer on BETDAQ thia morning.
Long Lunch won on his hurdling debut in 2013 but has struggled for places since and his tongue-tie is left off today.
Top Cat Henry has raced in a better grade but is due back over fences for new trainer Richard Newland (currently out of form).
Rayak got a new lease of life when his headgear was dispensed with at Newbury in February but its piled back on again today after his last of seven at Warwick on the last day.
SUPPLICANT HAS THE PLUM DRAW AT PONTY
PONTEFRACT Luca Cumani, who has a 30% strike rate at Ponty, gave notice when winning the Newbury Spring Cup, that he’s got them ready early this year. Wistar (2.45) could be anything.
There’s a quality contest here (3.20) at class-2 level, with another back from a long absence for a trainer in form, Supplicant for Richard Fahey, who won’t want to let down the Cheveley Park Stud for keeping this one in training.
Supplicant has the plum draw, whereas another expecting to do well, Free Code, has drifted like a dog on a raft this morning, over my betting weir to 19.0, not wanted with a high stall in 11.
WINDSOR Liberty Jack (6.25) was enormous at 21.0 on BETDAQ early mouse. Has been off the track some time but trainer in fine form over the winter and has only once booked Kieren Fallon before now (they won)
