18-1 GRAND PRIX RUNNER-UP: Second, second, second. Daqman’s weekend bad luck dogged him yesterday, with his Grand Prix bet, Erupt (2nd 18-1), out of the pack too late to get to the winner. The headline – ‘Erupt could burst back in Grand Prix’ – was good; and the BETDAQ place return some consolation. So don’t erupt like you did yesterday, Daqman!
JULY GROUP-RACE FORTUNE? While Daqman continues to hunt down value, his Fortune Cookies list to target Group winners in advance has scored seven times and has no fewer than nine chances in big races at Newmarket, Goodwood and The Curragh this month.

MIDWEEK MAGIC ON MONDAY AT MAISONS
1.20 Maisons-Laffitte Sometimes when you stand by something, it turns out to have three legs and lets you down.
Erupt gave us a real good run yesterday in the Grand Prix at Saint-cloud, and I’m leaving the place return in my France wallet for a euro or two on Midweek, hoping for another to bounce back.
Midweek was my Newmarket 1,000 Guineas punt to upset Minding. In fact, nothing upset Minding that day nor has done since, and she is heading for super stardom.
So Midweek’s eighth place behind her (just in front of the Irish 1,000 winner, Jet Setting) doesn’t look at all bad.
Second and third, Ballydoyle and Alice Springs, have both been beaten since by top French fillies La Cressoniere and Qemah, all of which suggests that Midweek probably had an off day.
ATHLON LOOKS BEST AT WINDSOR TONIGHT
4.25 Ayr Classy Anne ran well over CD behind Lexington Place in June on ground too fast for her. She will appreciate the cut today and can reverse the form on the easier surface.
7.35 Windsor Foxtrot Knight has won and been third on his two forays South to Windsor from North Yorkshire. Nocturn is four times a winner on the course.
8.15 Ripon A runaway winner here last month, Carnageo was stepped up in grade and ran well though the ground was too firm.
Back on an easy surface, this Pivotal gelding can return to form, up in trip and getting nearly a stone from most of the field. Leapfrogged the paper favourites to lead the BETDAQ market this morning.
9.05 Windsor George Baker has four rides at Wolverhampton tomorrow and four at Kempton on Wednesday but he swerved several offers today for just the one mount at Windsor tonight, where he shows a substantial level-stakes profit.
George teams up with Athlon again over the CD where they beat Sporty Yankee more comfortably than the head margin suggests. The money was down that day, and Athlon was 3.05 to Sporty Yankee’s 9.2 on BETDAQ early mouse.
