PRESSE ON TO THE FESTIVAL..

🎟️ ALL tickets please! In the next two weekends the top players book their places for the Cheltenham Festival in March, largely down to eight trial races at the festival venue on Saturday, followed by the Dublin Festival.

Daqman will preview them all and link them with Where The Winners Come From, an analysis of previous connections between the trial and the Cheltenham race.

L’Homme Presse set the Gold Cup market buzzing when he returned to form at Lingfield yesterday, and Nurse Susan was quoted for the Mares Hurdle and the Stayers.

Racereaders were so impressed with L’Homme Presse’s defeat of Protektorat in a time more than two seconds fast that even the third horse home, Iwilldoit, 19 lengths behind them, started a flurry of activity for the Grand National.

Protektorat jumped better than for a long time and will likely head for the Ryanair.

His performance underlines how Broadway Boy, the winner at the December Cheltenham meeting when he was third, was clearly under par when beaten at Warwick last week.

Daqman also continues his ante-post bets with analysis of the Supreme Novices Hurdle, the most important race of the meeting as far as future form is concerned.

FOUR OUT OF FOUR: 🌤️ Considerably against the odds, all four of Monday’s meetings have survived the overnight intervention of Storm Isha and Daqman pops in at three venues for today’s recommendations:

CUE IS THE TIP

â• 3.00 Kempton By far the best race of the day (class 3) at Kempton but also the smallest field – that’s something we’ve seen before.

It also throws up a quandary as I wouldn’t be in a hurry to back the Betdaq Betting Exchange likely odds-on favourite Cloud Cover.

For no other reason than I think she could be vulnerable off her current 83 mark. It certainly seemed that way last time out at Wolverhampton where she was soundly beaten (at 8/11) off the same mark – the hike in the weights coming after back to back wins at Kempton and Chelmsford.

Cue’s Beau might be able to take advantage – I certainly think they should be closer together in price and the disparity has created a value option. Cue’s Beau has been ultra consistent in just her four starts 2221 and starts handicapping off a mark 8lb lower than Cloud Cover.

We probably can’t read too much into her latest success in terms of different conditions here but a nine length romp at Nottingham on soft ground was visually very impressive and she is clearly still on the improve. I’ll stake for a WIN 20 return.

SEEFIN ANOTHER FOR THE SKELTONS

â• 3.05 Warwick The Skelton bandwagon is rolling at quite a pace now (Nurse Susan doing the column a favour yesterday) and Seefin should prove hard to beat in this 3m 1f handicap hurdle.

It looks an easier opportunity for him compared to Ascot last time out where he ran with credit in chasing home the favourite Scamallach Liath and he can now make it 3-4 in handicaps.

Feivel made all to win on heavy ground at Exeter on New Year’s Day when the blinkers were on for the first time. They stay on today but trainer Stuart Edmunds could be in better form and Feivel can occasionally put in a disappointing run.

A bigger danger may come from Imperial Bede who should handle the step up in trip but it’s an educated guess as he is up nearly a mile in distance!

ACE IN THE PACK

â• 7.00 Newcastle A reasonably priced nap on Monday with Swiss Ace the pick in this closing class 4 handicap.

Trainer Ruth Carr has sent out three winners from her last 11 runners and pilot Joanna Mason is also in good form (6 wins from 20).

Off the same mark Swiss Ace shouldn’t need to do much more than repeat his course and distance effort of last week when third to Dingle.

Star Zinc has been nudged up a pound following his close second at Southwell last week which I’m never keen on and I think he is also opposable on trainer form. Rebecca Menzies is 0-17 over the last two weeks.

It’s very competitive and whilst the four previous course and distance winners are not arriving in the best form it wouldn’t be a massive shock to see one pop up for a podium finish. The most likely being Hortzadar who remains very lightly raced on the all-weather 3 runs compared to a bumper 59 on the turf!

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
