BACK-TO-BACK NAPS: DAQMAN TURNS ON THE HEAT BEFORE ASCOT: Daqman, who landed big handicap winners at 14-1 and 5-1 on Saturday, completed back-to-back weekend naps when Adam Kirby just forced Snazzy Jazzy up on the line for a dead-heat with the favourite in the Listed Cathedral Stakes at Salisbury yesterday (pictured below – far side).
WON 2-1 DARLING MISS (Saturday nap)
WON 11-4 SNAZZY JAZZY (Sunday nap, dead heat)
HUGE ADVANTAGE OF BIG BETDAQ OFFERS AT THE ROYAL MEETING: Daqman launches Ascot week with the cream of his Fortune Cookies and their royal appointments. He will assess their chances day by day in race-by-race analysis and step up the stakes for naps of bull’s-eye and super status, as well as taking on Pricewise for value. ‘I have an unfair edge on him’, says Daqman; ‘I’ve got the huge advantage of BETDAQ offers, which is why we settle at SP’.

A SNEAKY ALTERNATIVE
2.15 Catterick Not too much form to go on here but the only debutant in the field, Lady Melody, is quite weak in the early market.
The eyes are obviously drawn to the Qatar Racing owned Sneaky who was only just pipped at Sandown last time out by a 33/1 shot.
That’s probably strong enough form to win a Catterick fillies maiden but the Sandown run came on good to firm ground and she appeared to run out of steam. Even allowing for Catterick being a fast five furlongs – it is soft today and that does concern me.
Preference is for Miss Lucy who was a close up fourth on debut at Carlisle to Exceptional when the ground was soft. She’ll improve plenty for that run and we already know she handles the testing ground.
TOO TRICKY TO BACK DICKY
2.45 Catterick The nap, Snazzy Jazzy saved the day yesterday. One horse I got wrong was Stallone who struggled to defy his penalty for his win at Nottingham last week.
We have a similar example today at Catterick where Tricky Dicky is out again under a 5lb penalty for his win at Pontefract seven days ago. It was a narrow win however and as we found out yesterday going back to back when the ground is testing is more difficult than at first appears.
Coupled with that, Tricky Dicky looks a little short in the market for me and a creditable alternative might be Mujassam who has been well supported in the morning BETDAQ market.
He came to form in style this time last season when rattling up a hat-trick in under a month. He has been dropped a further 3lb by the handicapper and is now at a very attractive level.
The ground remains soft at Catterick and whilst most of his form is on a faster surface he seems to cope OK with testing conditions and is a sporting alternative to the favourite. I’m staking to WIN 20 on the BETDAQ WIN market and WIN 10 on the place market.
PASSING THE TEST WITH APLOMB
6.20 Nottingham Windsor looks a minefield tonight as punters attempt to get a bank together for the events a few miles away starting tomorrow. The nap of the day for me runs at Nottingham – Aplomb.
His trainer William Haggas has six runners across the country today and all are less than 5/1 (at the time of writing) so we’ll get a very good barometer for stable form ahead of Royal Ascot.
Aplomb ran one of his better races at Ascot two starts ago when runner-up to Whelans Way and clearly found the seven furlongs too far at Musselburgh last time out.
Back to a sprinters trip and on testing ground he appears to relish he looks the bet of the day.
