WORK THIS ONE ‘OUT’..

⭕ 1.40 Punchestown Joseph O’Brien made 11 entries for Dundalk Monday-Wednesday but has only one over jumps all the week until Saturday’s big day at Leopardstown.

I can’t say he’s just Out For A Stroll today but the eponymous player for J P McManus was brought to winning form as favourite after four big-field maidens for which he was well backed and ran well each time.

At Galway in October, he came up against Messerschmitt, afterwards Grade-3 placed at Fairyhouse; then he was fourth here at Punchestown, beaten only about four lengths.

He finally got off the mark in first-time cheekpieces at Limerick, with the runner-up an odds-on scorer at Fairyhouse two weeks later.

Total Look had given 7lb in November to another Joseph O’Brien youngster, Beyond Your Dreams, who went on to a narrow defeat of Slurricane at Fairyhouse in December.

Joseph may not need a slide-rule to appreciate that his 11lb from Total Look today could be enough to walk this with Out For A Stroll (Betdaq Betting Exchange 4.2 taken).

FANTASTIKAS HAS CLASS

⭕ 3.50 Plumpton Seamus Mullins has won this twice in the last four years with the money down, starting with one at 3-1 SP and then with Morfee, a short-priced favourite at 5-4.

Morfee won with 11st 11lb last year off a 110 rating but 11st 5lb off the same mark today, suggesting this is a better race.

He seemed to be running back into form on the first day of the new year, third at Fakenham, but the heavy ground doesn’t help today.

Whydah Gally won here a year or so back, but also drops below 11st off the 3lb claim of Freddie Gingell.

Northern Poet ran well here last time out but his winning streak in the spring of 2023 came on good ground.

Vision De Maine’s recent run (112P) was interrupted when he was struck into at Wincanton on Boxing Day but he seems to prefer good, good to soft.

Invincible Nao is an ex-French soft-heavy type who ran up to a next-time winner at Leicester recently, but has never raced this far, and his yard is 1-41 in the last two weeks.

Fantastikas hasn’t won for three years but has spent a lot of time in Graded company in the intervening 14 races and has now slipped an overall 20lb in the ratings, minus another 7lb for his amateur rider’s claim. BETDAQ 6.6.

MARQUAND CAN FLY HOME

⭕ 4.20 Wolverhampton: Tom Marquand is back from Meydan with two rides at Wolverhampton, one today and one tomorrow. Both are Maktoum owned and trained by Wlliam Haggas.

Fior Di Bosco, a 20-1 outsider here (4.5 a place on BETDAQ), has been dropped 9lb and could sneak a place, while all eyes are on the revenge match, with Pessoa (BETDAQ 6.5) value to reverse his course defeat by Kitaro Kich when he failed to get a clear run.
