BULL’S-EYE 17.0 BETDAQ HIT MAKES UP FOR NECK DEFEAT AT 27.0: Daqman fuelled the fever about his bull’s-eye bets at Cheltenham over the weekend, by advising you yesterday: ‘Bet Diesel to Tank in the Mud.’ His way of negating the neck defeat for a 27.0 shot on the opening day was to fire two more arrows from the oche. Both were backed to win 50 points and, sure enough, it was Diesel who prevailed. Bull’s eye!

ARKLE LOOKS GIFT FOR IRELAND
It’s Fakir news! The easy Trial win by Put The Kettle On at Cheltenham yesterday was a blow to the Arkle hopes in March of both placed horses, Al Dancer and Getaway Trump.
But more significantly, it made headlines on behalf of a young chaser who wasn’t there, Fakir D’Oudairies, who is yet another marker for his trainer, Joseph O’Brien.
The Irish (or rather Willie Mullins) have won four of the last five Arkles and, if Al Dancer and Getaway Trump, are among the best the English can produce, then the trophy may as well stay at Closutton.
Should Willie have nothing to beat Fakir D’Oudairies, he can bike the trophy the 32 miles down the M9 to Owning Hill and put it on Joseph O’Brien’s doorstep.
Al Dancer and Getaway Trump were both easy to back on BETDAQ last night with liquidity about offers of 16.0.
The ground, as we know, has been deep at Cheltenham, and removing Al Dancer’s headgear may have made a difference yesterday. But I really don’t like having to make excuses for Getaway Trump a second time.
As forecast, he stripped fitter than when blown out by Al Dancer over the same CD last month, but his hitting a fence and giving the race away almost matched the moment he faded two out in the first encounter. He looks tame.
Now the same prognosis is being made from within the same Paul Nicholls stable about Politologue: that he will get his revenge next time out (in the Tingle Creek he won last season), needing the race against Defi Du Seuil yesterday.
But Politologue has started his last three seasons with success first time back. Even more alarming, he hasn’t won another race since that reappearance success, at Ascot last November.
And his Cheltenham record now seems to write him out of the script for next March. It reads: U04422.
DUHALLOW PLUMPTON LAD TO FOLLOW
2.30 Plumpton The Alan Jones trained Duhallow Lad looks the answer to this handicap chase on expected soft ground at Plumpton this afternoon.
The seven-year-old should be cherry ripe for this having run a creditable fourth to Waikiki Waves on his seasonal reappearance at Fontwell and should also be suited by this step down in distance.
The last time he ran over this course and distance he won by an eased down 50 lengths !!
He races off a mark of 107 here which doesn’t look too arduous and can see off the main challenge which looks to be Le Coeur Net, now that Bad Boy Du Pouldu is a non runner.
Le Coeur Net was a beaten favourite at Ffos Las on his seasonal reappearance but has won here before and likes the soft ground.
3.30 Plumpton High Up In The Air is interesting now stepped up in trip for local trainer Gary Moore.
He was well beaten over 2m 4f here last time out but is lightly raced and we know from his first run in a point that extreme distances might be his bag. He’s been quite highly tried since then, including in an Ascot maiden hurdle and should find life here much easier off a mark of 97.
Timely Gift plugged on to take second at Fontwell last time out and looks the danger but so far at least he hasn’t managed to string two good runs together.
7.15 Southwell A very competitive sprint handicap where quite a few are making their Fibresand debuts. As regular readers will know I like to see proof of ability to handle this surface first.
Alba Del Sole should have solid place claims. She ran well in fourth over course and distance last time out in a higher grade race – I’m taking her to win 10 in both the BETDAQ win and place markets.
DAQMAN BETS (staked to win 10 points each)
BET 7.6pts win (nap) DUHALLOW LAD (2.30 Plumpton)
BET 3.1pts win HIGH UP IN THE AIR (3.30 Plumpton)
BET 1.6pts win and 3.3pts place (both to win 10) ALBA DEL SOLE (7.15 Southwell)
