FORMER IRISH RAIDERS TO MAKE MARK
Ayr 1.50 Rievers Lad showed significant promise in bumpers last year and despite a long absence can make a winning hurdles debut here. The step up in trip looks sure to be in the favour of this son of Alflora and trainer Nicky Richards had a good record at Ayr in the last five seasons with a 22% strike rate. The early price of 1.95 on BETDAQ looks more than fair and he looks a good bet to start the day.
Ayr 2.20 Fattsota would pick up and carry all of these on the flat but has not run to the same sort of level on his two starts to date. He was second showing signs of greenness on debut but was still showing hesitation in his jumping on his second start when a workman-like winner. He faces heavy ground today, which was not his friend on the flat and makes a lay bet tempting. His opposition may not be up to much but at 1.35 a horse that has yet to convince over hurdles on ground that he does not like is worth taking on.
Ayr 2.55 Simmply Sam is well equipped for today’s conditions and like it around this course so an early show of 5.7 on BETDAQ seems slightly big. The race looks sure to be run to suit with Intercounty Star looking set to blaze a trail which could set things up nicely for Mr W Easterby and Simmply Sam. Her trainer, despite not being a household name has a 23% strike rate at Ayr and an impressive £32.33 level stakes profit.
Plumpton 1.40 There is a lot to like about the chances of Oscar’s Boss here. He has some high class form in Irish bumpers, has proven his ability on this ground and has joined a stable in good form. Provided he takes to hurdles, he looks a class above his rivals here. The 1.62 on BETDAQ reflects this but he even still he looks a good thing today.
Plumpton 2.45 Another former Irish horse Jerrysback makes his British debut here and could be one to follow. He was very impressive winning his final point-to-point start and has joined some very powerful connections here. The ground will hold no fears to this son of Jeremy and he should be able to make a winning start over hurdles. At 1.95 on BETDAQ he looks the bet.
