BETDAQ VALUE BATTLEGROUND

FORTUNE COOKIES: Franconia, Enable, Fancy Blue, Dandalla and Patrick Sarsfield are updated winners for the Fortune Cookies but Miss O’Connor and Wonderful Moon lost and Highest Ground was beaten a neck in the Dante.

The list now has a strong flavour of Goodwood and Galway this week. We’ve had Enable on our side for more than three years for 12 wins and two seconds. She seems better than ever and stays in, with the Arc in view.

🏇 ARAMON Has come good in his preps for the Galway Hurdle, quickening clear of the experienced Petit Mouchoir at Tipperary.

🏇 ART POWER Four in a row and Nunthorpe chance against Battaash boosted by his defeat at Naas of Millisle, who then romped home four lengths in the Ballyogan.

🏇 BATTLEGROUND looks like a sequence horse for the two-year-old tests, starting at Goodwood tomorrow.

🏇 BRAZIL Look out for this stablemate to Battleground. A brother to Capri. Target, the Curragh Futurity.

🏇 DANDALLA Completed a hat-trick for us at the July Meeting. Next stop, the Phoenix Stakes. Santosha boosted the form yesterday.

🏇 ENABLE Won Saturday. The most rewarding of Fortune Cookies, now heads for the Arc.

🏇 FANCY BLUE Goes for the Nassau. Won the French Oaks for us under Jean-Charles Boudot, who has ridden 112 winners this year!

🏇 FANNY LOGAN One of our Royal Ascot winners, may wait for the autumn (likes soft).

🏇 FRANCONIA Won yesterday.

🏇 HIGHEST GROUND Beaten a neck in the Dante.

🏇 KAMEKO Sussex Stakes, Wednesday

🏇 VATICAN CITY Sussex Stakes, Wednesday

🏇 US AND THEM Laid out for the Galway Plate by Joseph O’Brien.

AUTUMN HORSES carried forward: Addeybb, Born With Pride, Innisfree, Miss O’Connor, Patrick Sarsfield, Victor Ludorum.

NAP SHOULDN’T NEED TO FIGHT

⭕ 4.50 Redcar Simon and Ed Crisford are running at a highly impressive strike-rate of 8 winners from their last 18 runners including their last three runners.

That tally should go up a further notch today in the 4.50 at Redcar where the pair send out Without A Fight who made a pleasing start at Newbury when third to Worthily in what looked a well above average maiden.

The runner-up went on to win next time out at Haydock and whilst Worthily was tailed off on his next start – it was in the Derby and he was hampered too!

Without A Fight ran really green in the Newbury race and was doing his best work late on – so should improve bundles for that outing and can see off the principal danger which looks to be from the Andrew Balding trained Kitzbuhel. This one has shaped with promise in two starts, including when third at Windsor last time out, but I prefer the scope of Without A Fight today.

EAGLE LOOKS GOLDEN

⭕ 5.25 Redcar This looks destined for another southern raider – this time Roger Varian’s Swooping Eagle who should appreciate the forecast rain and should only need to reproduce his latest effort at Chepstow to land this.

The handicapper has put him up 2lb for finishing second to Rosa Gold at Chepstow – that one was completing a hat-trick that day and he may well have ‘bumped into one’.

He’s unlikely to bump into anything a progressive here and can prove his current handicap mark is wrong with hopefully a comfortable success.

CHARGE FOR SHARJAH

⭕ 6.45 Galway Marathon not a sprint definitely applies to the Galway Festival which starts today. The better races come later in the week but there is a competitive handicap to look forward to today on a day of flat only races. The schedule has been adjusted this year because of what’s happened and it clearly won’t be the same ‘craic’ behind closed doors.

But the winners are still there to be found and the Willie Mullins trained Sharjah jumps off then page for me here as he bids for a first flat success to match his considerable exploits over hurdles.

There was certainly plenty of promise at the Curragh last time out when he finished fourth to Dalton Highway in a similar event and would have been a lot closer but for getting hampered.

There’s every chance he can turn the tables with Dalton Highway on 9lb better terms and the pair have both faired well with low draws.
