IT’S A SIX HIT THANKS TO EMILY: Daqman made it six wins from the long weekend when Emily Dickinson (WON 5-2) finally had her Group success, stepping up to 2m at the Curragh yesterday. It followed a painful run of places for Daqman with Hitman (btn head 10-3), A Different Kind (sh-hd 2nd 3-1) and Donkey Years (3rd 6-1 in the Munster National).

Daqman is 53-42 up on Pricewise after strikes at 14.0, 10-1, 6.3, 9-4 (twice)

DAQMAN GOES INTERNATIONAL: There are two more weekends of the Flat, with Newmarket closing its doors on Friday and Saturday before the fat lady sings at Doncaster the following week. But lookout for countdowns to the international scene:

Melbourne Cup, Tuesday November 2
Breeders’ Cup, Keeneland, Friday and Saturday, November 4 and 5

ENERGY STORED FOR THE NATIONAL

What not to follow.. yet! Daqman’s Fortune Cookies for the Jumps will be out soon, but pointless putting Chemical Energy in the list before Cheltenham. Maybe then he can land us a double there and at Aintree!

After the six-year-old stormed home 61 lengths at the two-day Cheltenham meeting at the weekend, trainer Gordon Elliott warned that Energy will go into storage, with a five-month holiday before returning for the Cheltenham Festival.

The target is the National Hunt Chase, which has been Elliott property with four previous wins, seen as a top-class trial for the Grand National. This is how he farmed the race:

Chicago Grey won 2011, ridden by Derek O’Connor. Brought down under Paul Carberry in the Aintree National of 2012.

Cause Of Causes won 2015, ridden by Jamie Codd. Subsequent Kim Muir winner at Cheltenham 2016 and second in the Grand National.

Tiger Roll won 2017, ridden by Lisa O’Neill. Takes the cross country path to Aintree, with a hat-trick at Cheltenham and the Grand National under Davy Russell, back to back.

Ravenhill won 2020, ridden by Jamie Codd. The plan had worked well with Cause Of Causes and Tiger Roll, but Ravenhill pulled up in the 2021 Grand National.

Chemical Energy 2023? I shall be on for Cheltenham but will not get the 66-1 acquired already by trainer Elliott, though I might do just as well taking long–distance ante-post aim at the Grand National. Watch this space.

GREAT SCOTT !

⭕ 1.30 Redcar The form of the Haydock maiden in which Scott’s Moon made a pleasing debut in fourth is starting to work out really well and the James Bethell trained colt can get off the mark here.

Both the winner and the second from the Haydock race have won since and the third ran creditably when stepped up class at York next time out.

Another positive was the race came with give in the ground, so the testing conditions expected again today shouldn’t phase the two-year-old.

It looks a slightly above average renewal by course standards however the previous winners all look vulnerable racing under penalties.

They include Sipahsalar who gets his first taste of softer ground having won at Ayr on good and Tim Easterby’s Spirit Of Applause who didn’t exactly over impress when landing odds of 8/15 at Ripon and found life tougher at York next time out when stepped up in class.

WHAT’S NEW PUSSYCAT?

⭕ 4.15 Redcar There’re a couple of well fancied Newmarket raiders on the card and it will be a massive shock if Desert Hero doesn’t land prohibitive odds on the Betdaq Betting Exchange in the 2.30. Owned by The King, the William Haggas trained runner brings Group placed form into a Redcar novice event.

The Crisford’s should also travel south with a winner or two. They have Awaal in the 3.40 and Pussycat Eyes in the 4.15 who both have strong claims.

Pussycat Eyes improved on her Kempton debut to finish a close third at Chelmsford last time out and the drop back in trip should help here. She has plenty of speed and hopefully will dominate from the gates to the post.

With Grant Wood now looking quite exposed, the main danger may come from Abruzzo Mia who was very green on debut here but ran well in second. However he now needs to do it on softer ground on his first start for Michael Dods.

TREES FOR THREE

⭕ 7.00 Newcastle A modest night of racing at Gosforth Park but I thought Solitary Trees has a fine chance of completing an October hat-trick.

I thought he won with a ton in hand at Kempton last week and it’s no surprise to see George Boughey running him again so quickly as the 6lb statutory penalty looks well capable of being defied.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
