THE WISEMAN TAKES EARLY OFFERS: An early-mouse bet on a Daqman gamble yesterday would have put you in front for all money but, had you waited for SP, you would have lost overall on his bets. The horse was Mister Wiseman (WON 10-3), selected at 8.0 on BETDAQ in the morning.

LINCOLN COUNTDOWN: The Lincoln Handicap acceptors will be out later today. One of them will definitely be the William Haggas horse aimed at the race since last July. Haggas and Paul Cole are the trainers who know what is required, says Daqman this morning.

MANGE TOUTED BY STABLE FOR THE LINCOLN

Placing the horse right. That’s a huge slice of the art of training. Finding the right trip, the right company and then the right spot in the handicap to exploit his talents.

William Haggas and Paul Cole are known to get it right with winning regularity, particularly in the Lincoln Handicap. Both have won it three times.

Paul Cole has Dutch Art Dealer in Saturday’s big race running off 90, the same mark as one of his three winners.

William Haggas has dropped out Dream Spirit in favour of Mange All. Both were placed in the handicap within the weight parameters of all three of his winners: 91 to 98.

Dutch Art Dealer is on a hat-trick after two 7f AW wins this winter but with jockey Luke Morris telling Cole after his latest success: ‘He’s a big, scopey horse who is still improving and will stay a mile.’

Mange All is related to stayers but scored over a mile at Ascot in July, and was second at Doncaster and fourth in the Silver Cambridgeshire over further.

The Mange All plan for the Lincoln was openly admitted by Haggas in an interview as long ago as that day in July. He can turn around the placings with Silver Cambridgeshire winner Gm Hopkins and, if the market has it right, they will be the one-two on Saturday.

SAM’S THE TAUNTON MAN WITH MAKADAMIA

3.00 Towcester This is the quality race of the day. Pam Sly is two from two, still standing, this month but front-runner Iconic Rose switches from success on the easier turning track at Market Rasen (over Rosa Fleet) to the Towcester final climb.

Dardanella is consistent but is raised a grade, and the race reads like a return match between Blameitalonmyroots and A Shade Of Bay, the one-two at Ludlow late last month.

A Shade Of Bay has always needed soft-heavy ground to be seen at his best, so I fancy ‘Blame’ at 4.0 on BETDAQ this morning to come out on top again, despite slightly worse terms.

3.10 Wolverhampton (Ladbrokes Handicap) The Tapeta track favours speed and Pearl Ransom’s claimer, who takes his mark 3lb lower than for his last success, should be able to steer him home from the front.

Last time he was at Wolver, Pearl Ransom set the pace and just failed to last out over nine-furlongs-plus, carrying 6lb more than today. Forgive him his last run at Southwell and take 5.4 early mouse.

3.20 Taunton Robert Waley-Cohen has had four winners from eight starters this season, two of them from through Makadamia, both on good ground. Including jockey Sam’s claim, he receives 9lb and more from all his rivals here.

Like Barton Heather, Barton Rose (7.2 as I write) is sent chasing straight into a handicap, a conjuring trick Neil Mulholland is good at.
