BAREFACED DAQMAN TAKES ON 16 FAVOURITES AND LANDS 12 LAYS: He dared confront the Bear! Daqman’s Lays Logic leapt to a 75% strike rate (12-16) with a 12th successful lay of the season on a short-priced favourite yesterday, when he opposed 6-4 Go Bears Go in the Phoenix Stakes at The Curragh, clearly stating stats and facts that got him beaten into third: The Favourite Bears Taking On.
WINDSOR TONIGHT: Daqman opposed the beaten Bear with Dr Zempf (2nd 5-2) and was second again in the Phoenix Sprint with Power Under Me (2nd 13-2 from 9.0 on BETDAQ). Hopefully better luck today with three bets from Windsor.
FORTUNE COOKIES’ DIARY UPDATE
⚠️ HEADS UP Wonderful Tonight was a big winner for the Fortune Cookies at Goodwood, and may run again at the York Ebor meeting next week. New addition to the list is History, who ran a mighty race for one so green in the maiden at the Curragh yesterday.
127 ST MARK’S BASILICA (Aidan O’Brien) Juddmonte International, York, August 18.
125 ADDEYBB (William Haggas): Irish Champion Stakes, Leopardstown, September 11; Champion Stakes, Ascot, October 16.
125 PALACE PIER (Team Gosden): Juddmonte International, York, August 18
120 AL AASY (William Haggas): has been gelded
120 SNOWFALL (Aidan O’Brien): Juddmonte International, York, August 18
117 WONDERFUL TONIGHT (David Menuisier): ‘Yorkshire Oaks or Prix Pomone’
116 REAL WORLD (Saeed Bin Surror): Waiting for faster ground to return.
114 GLASS SLIPPERS (Kevin Ryan): Excellent third in the Goodwood King George.
110 ALENQUER (William Haggas): Great Voltigeur, York, August 18
108 QUICK SUZY (Gavin Cromwell): next race to be announced.
108 PERFECT POWER (Richard Fahey): Gimcrack Stakes, York, August 20
087 EAST ASIA (Ian Williams): running back into form
—- HISTORY (Aidan O’Brien) Two-year-old Galileo filly History, the 2.8million-guineas-yearling I told you about in advance of her Sunday debut, ran well enough against an experienced and heavily backed winner to suggest that she will become one of the last Galileos to win big races
DUE DILIGENCE AT WINDSOR
⭕ 6.05 Windsor Testing ground again at Windsor as the ‘summer’ keeps delivering. It’s good to soft but shouldn’t get worse than that if the forecast can be believed.
That might not suit Daiquiri Francais, the likely warm favourite here, who has to do it again under a penalty and on different ground. She was a narrow course and distance winner last month on good to firm ground and defying the penalty might be hard against some unexposed types.
The Godolphin runner Pulcheria was disappointing on debut when an odds-on last of three but showed a little more when fourth of six at Ascot last time. She’ll need to improve further on third start and we’d only really be guessing about her over the shorter trip and softer ground.
At bigger prices, I thought the Charles Hills trained Dilligently Done was of interest on the BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE .
There was plenty to like about her debut fifth at Leicester where she ran green. This is tougher but she is entitled to come on plenty and she makes appeal on both the WIN and PLACE markets.
THAT’S THE SPIRIT
⭕ 6.35 Windsor In contrast to the 6.05 race Oriental Spirit looks a market leader with the ticks in the right boxes.
The Stuart Kittow trained runner improved on his Newbury debut to finish third at Salisbury last time out on good to soft ground. The front two looked above average that day and that was franked when runner-up Prop Forward won easily next time out at Bath.
⚠️ HEADS UP Look out for the winner Nine Tales later this week – he is entered up for the 6.52 at Chelmsford on Thursday.
The Archie Watson trained Strike Me A Pose ran well on debut when chasing home easy winner Mine’s A Double. I’m not sure the form stacks up to much though – the third that day was last of seven next time out.
A bigger danger may come from the Ralph Beckett trained Shrara, despite her not being seen since winning at Chepstow just over a year ago.
DUSK TO HIT RIGHT NOTES
⭕ 8.05 Windsor Dusk Chorus has relished the softer ground in her last two races – her first runs on a more testing surface and she won nicely at Lingfield last time out with a little in hand.
She’s up 3lb but that doesn’t look overly punitive and she could easily be still well handicapped on this ground.
Calcutta Dream is the obvious danger on his long trip south from Michael and David Easterby’s yard (their only runner here). The step-up in trip should help judged, on a good effort when third at Beverley last time out.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
