33-16 AHEAD IN IRISH DERBY WEEK: Daqman yesterday landed another feature-race winner in the value challenge to Pricewise, giving him four in three days, and taking him into a 33-16 lead ahead of this week’s Northumberland Plate (Saturday) and Irish Derby (Sunday).

WON 9-2 VOODOO QUEEN (Sunday)
WON 22-1 SAINT LAWRENCE (Saturday)
WON 12-1 SNELLEN (Saturday)
WON 6-1 COPPICE (Friday)

DON’T FOLLOW THE FALSE RESULTS: Daqman starts the week with the ‘thumbs down’ to most of those big-odds scorers at Royal Ascot, which gave punters their worst results there since 2014: Ascot shocks now become lays.

HORSES NOT TO FOLLOW: Though he sees the Ascot shockers as losers if you follow them immediately, he highlights some to take out of each race.

HORSES TO FOLLOW: Fortune Cookies update tomorrow.

ASCOT SHOCKS BECOME LAYS

NINE nasty surprises for most punters at Royal Ascot are given the thumbs down by Daqman today. Don’t follow them next time out, particularly if they are short-priced favourites.

But watch for them sneaking into big fields, perhaps in the autumn, maybe waiting until next year when they are ‘forgotten’ or ‘hidden’ again.

SEVEN UP! But two winners and five also-rans are marked in blue as horses to follow. Will they get into tomorrow’s revised Fortune Cookies?

150-1 VALIANT FORCE and 66-1 MALC (2nd) One of several races decided by the draw; this one saw a 14-runner field finish up 5, 6, 4 towards the far side. Some in the middle were hampered by hanging horses.

33-1 TRIPLE TIME got the drop on the favourite but the heavily-backed Inspiral started slowly.

INSPIRAL made a great effort to get to the leader on a surface on which it was difficult to make up ground.

25-1 VILLANOVA QUEEN Less than two lengths separated the first seven and the result could have been different had the following not happened: five fillies took a keen hold; four dwelt at the start; two held up in rear found their passage blocked.

22-1 JIMI HENDRIX and 25-1 SONNY LISTON (2nd) The winner came from the rear, then hung into the far rail, when the near-side high numbers were overracing in a pack, and finished, by stall: 22, 29, 21, 20, 27, 25, 16, 24, 30, 18!

22-1 BIG EVS There was no bogey on the far side like Jimi Hendrix, when the high numbers went clear, with a draw result of 19, 15, 16, 18, 2, 24, 20.

ALABAMA (from stall 2) was leading a small group towards the far side but had no chance with the near side.

22-1 SAINT LAWRENCE A brilliant ride by Hollie Doyle, taking advantage of the pace down the centre, but six horses had trouble at the start.

FRESH, in the far-side group, finished strongly, and can win another big-field handicap.

20-1 BURDETT ROAD is still improving. CUBAN DAWN finished in the ruck but his pedigree tells you he needs further.

22-1 AGE OF KINGS Down the field in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, resolutely repelled boarders, dropped back a furlong, to win the Jersey Stakes.

80-1 KHAADEM Back to form, owed victory to one of those smooth runs from the rear by Jamie Spencer.

KINROSS (7th) was a late gamble but was reported ‘only partially shod’ and the good-to-firm ground was exactly what he didn’t want!

TRIP WILL SUIT SPRING DAY

⭕ 2.45 Chepstow Harry and Roger Charlton are on a hat-trick, with one runner here, Karakay, and one at Windsor tonight, Magical Merlin, after two strikes at Ffos Las yesterday.

Joshua Bryan has ridden 42 winners for Andrew Balding, 11 this year, and Spring Day may have the edge over Karakay. He is bred to step up in this and get even further as the season progresses. BETDAQ 2.9.

⭕ 4.50 Chepstow Hollie Doyle and Archie Watson had a memorable Ascot, and Coral Reef is the only runner in this handicap to have been placed on turf.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 4.7 Coral Reef.

Kimnkate won on the AW at Lingfield on Thursday but that was in first-time blinkers on Thursday. Will the blinds work again? Can she keep her peak after a four-day break?

HE MAY BE A MAGICAL NAP

⭕ 6.35 Windsor Magical Merlin is up a grade after scoring on turf at Lingfield the last day but he beat Proverb over the CD here at Windsor last August.

Proverb broke his maiden seven lengths after that and went on to complete a hat-trick at Listed level.

Live In The Moment has been a year or more down the handicap, his last ‘moment’ coming at Chelmsford in September 2002. He has run well recently but betrayed his dislike of firm ground.

Despite his slip in the ratings, and a lesser slide by Lequinto, they have to give a stone and 9lb, respectively, to Magical Merlin (BETDAQ 5.5). Animate could go well but has never won on turf.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
