WINNERS STILL ROLLING: Daqman’s winner a day sequence continued yesterday with 2/1 Redcar scorer Coppull Hall Lane who made a winning handicap debut.

KING GEORGE WEEK: Daqman sets out King George week – 12 months ago he hit even better form with four winning naps on the week – all odds against!

TRAINER FORM

▪️ Aidan O’Brien got his Curragh winner yesterday but had to wait for the maiden at 4.55 to score with Ephesus.

The Group races all eluded him so it will count as a bad day at the office for the Champion trainer.

I was right to take on Mountain Bear in the Minstrel Stakes but couldn’t find the winner Poet Master who had previously beaten only one home in a Listed contest at Haydock.

It was an awful run from Mountain Bear who lost considerable ground coming out of the stalls and never looked like plugging back the 10 lengths he was down at halfway.

Unfortunately for me, Jackie Oh also failed to fire in the Group 3 Meadow Stakes. The race went to 16/1 winner Royal Dress who I thought needed it softer than the selection ideally would have done.

▪️ At the other end of the trainer food chain David Rees saddled his first winner for TWO YEARS when Karannelle ended the drought at Newton Abbot yesterday.

It was very nearly a case of London buses when his next runner finished second at 20/1 in the concluding handicap chase!

▪️ No play from me in the maiden hurdle at Cartmel this afternoon (2.45pm) but surely a wealth warning about the Betdaq favourite Jolie Coeur Allen who has gone off favourite in six of her seven races but has been defeated every time.

That includes at 2/9 when trained by Willie Mullins. This is an extraordinarily weak contest but with her profile how could you back with confidence on her first start for Ben Haslam. Not many improve horses from Willie Mullins!

So far her backers have no doubt been saying ‘system working well, please send more money :(‘

ALPINE GOLDIE MEDAL

⭕ 5.25 Ayr The handicap action doesn’t get better than this class 5 this afternoon so I will tread carefully.

Jim Goldie has scored with four of his last 11 runners and has good claims here with Alpine Sierra who is the only previous course and distance winner in the field and gets a small break from the handicapper.

More significant though is the fact he is dropped back to a mile after struggling over the longer 10 furlongs here last time out.

He is preferred to the morning Betdaq Betting Exchange market leaser Helter Skelter who is 0-11 with his trainer Rebecca Menzies 0-20. He has the form to snap those sequences but I don’t want to be playing at short odds to find out the answer today.

HOUSTONN – WE DON’T HAVE A PROBLEM

⭕ 6.50 Windsor Houstonn is on a recovery mission after letting supporters down at Newbury last time out but he is back after the cruelest cut of all and in the context of this race his fifth to Rhetorical in a higher grade class 4 looks solid enough.

The four that finished in front of him that day have all run solid races since – two have won including Place Of Safety (who was 4th) who bolted home by five lengths and seven and a half lengths to win a novice event at Kempton.

It looks a two horse race with main rival Raheen Ride representing William Haggas. He has also been gelded since his last run but seemed to struggle to see out the 10 furlongs at Newbury and I would have been more enthusiastic on his chance if trying a shorter trip.

SEEKING SOME ANSWERS

⭕ 7.50 Windsor Sticking with another 10 furlong race here – this time a handicap for fillies with several progressive types on display.

I am keen on Seek And Destroy to repeat her course and distance win from earlier in the month and make a winning start in handicap company.

She seemed to relish the quick ground and she makes the most appeal of the first time handicappers who have all been thrown in here on similar levels.

Sea Regal failed to build on two encouraging starts when a well beaten seventh at Doncaster last time out letting down her supporters who took 11/8.

She went from looking the likely winner three furlongs out to well beaten and although the drop back in trip will help she is probably best watched with some questions now to answer.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
