SEVEN-UP FRANKIE IS FIZZING AS HE BOOKS A DATE WITH HIS STAR: Daqman looks forward to the return of Enable among six Fortune Cookies due to appear up to and before her Eclipse Stakes date at Sandown on July 6th. Seven-up Royal Ascot hero, Frankie Dettori, is keen as ever to book winning rides.

MONDAY SUPERNAP: A potentially well-handicapped three-year-old catches DAQMAN’s eyes at Windsor and is promoted to SUPERNAP status to start the week.

KEEN AN’ ABLE TO ECLIPSE THEM AGAIN

FORTUNE COOKIES: When 48-year-old Frankie Dettori learned that Enable would be declared for the Eclipse Stakes on July 6, he rang John Gosden’s office to confirm that he would be available. I hope I’ll still be keen on getting winners when I’m 48.

Dettori then psyched himself up in the ‘lonely desert’ of the Ascot weighing room – his words because he feels so old among the young riders – and taught them all a lesson or seven with a string of winners at his favourite course.

Enable’s season is geared to an historic third Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on October 6. Dettori has ridden her to nine consecutive victories, including the back-to-back Arcs.

In her last three starts she beat Crystal Ocean, Magical and then Sea of Class, who finished first, second and fifth in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot last week which she swerved.

That trio is generally second, third and fourth in the markets behind her for the Eclipse, with Crystal Ocean and Japan her main rivals in the King George betting, Sea Of Class and French Derby winner Sottsass next in the markets for the Arc.

Fortune Cookies had a right royal Ascot with Dashing Willoughby (WON 6-1), Cleonte (WON 7-2) and Stradivarius (WON 1-1) and a good run from Rawdaa (2nd 4-1) for 50 points profit at the meeting at SP.

Look out for those who missed Ascot to run in the next three weeks:

Elector (Sir Michael Stoute), Enable (John Gosden), Headman (Roger Charlton), Le Don De Vie (Andrew Balding), Qabala (Roger Varian), Sir Dragonet (Aidan O’Brien).

THE ANGEL FROM THE NORTH

7.00 Wolverhampton This sprint handicap is tightly knit but Miss Enigma is given a chance to reverse course and distance form with Superceded. There was just three quarters of a length between them when they were first and second in May and both have gone on to run disappointingly on the turf since – although in the case of Superceded he had excuses at Nottingham when hampered.

Society Star is the potential improver in the race but her overall form is pretty modest and she will need to do better than on her handicap debut last time out at Lingfield.

7.40 Windsor It was The Proclaimers who boasted about walking 500 miles but the equine equivalent is surely fellow-Scot, trainer Mark Johnston. Put it this way, I wouldn’t mind having shares in the local diesel supplier in Middleham.

Only last Friday Johnston sent Asian Angel to Ayr where he bolted home by five lengths in handicap company and Johnston is striking whilst the iron is hot and sending the three-year-old to the opposite end of the country for this class 4 handicap by the River Thames.

He’s burdened with a 6lb penalty but I can’t see that being enough to stop in as he looks exceptionally well handicapped judged by his Ayr romp.

Martyn Meade had a red letter day at Royal Ascot when Advertise won the Commonwealth Cup and is represented here by the King Power Racing owned Fox Vardy who is racing in handicap company for the first time. There was a lot more promise from him last time out at Salisbury but it came after a 257 day break, so there’s always the ‘bounce’ factor and the run also came on soft ground.

It’s hard to predict the ground at Windsor as there might be thunderstorms about but at the time of writing I have to assume the official ‘good’ is a question mark for Fox Vardy.

Earl Of Harrow looks the danger. He was a course and distance winner two starts ago and followed up at Haydock last time out. He’s up 3lb but that doesn’t look too harsh. He remains progressive and looks a tough cookie.

8.45 Windsor I wouldn’t be in a huge hurry to back the BETDAQ market leader Desert Lion. The David Simcock trained runner made a pleasing debut at Kempton but was a little disappointing when switched to the turf at Thirsk in April when a beaten odds-on favourite in fourth.

I’m sweet on the chances of Jack D’Or who was involved in a real battle at Lingfield when third (on the turf) to Heroic and odds-on Voltaic. There was just half a length between the trio who pulled 14 lengths clear of the fourth.

Heroic didn’t advertise that form at Newmarket subsequently but he was pitched into what looked a much deeper race and Jack D’Or’s form compares favourably to both Desert Lion and Assembled who has placed efforts at Wetherby and Doncaster to his name.
