CHELTENHAM FEARS RAIN AND FROST: Soft and with rain forecast for today; that’s the forecast for a soggy first day at Cheltenham tomorrow, so Daqman finds you 20 horses who love the mud.
*Frost is forecast for Tuesday night and ground covers will go on to protect the second day.

LAYS LOGIC Will the conditions knock out some short-priced horses; will outsiders who love the mud come to the front of the market? Daqman’s lays are famous for 16 opposing consecutive losing favourites over three Cheltenham seasons.
STAR STAT Looks out for his lays-a-day and all the winningmost Cheltenham stats over the four days.
KILLALOAN TO KICK OFF CHELTENHAM WEEK
⭕ 4.00 Taunton Team Ditcheat’s Cheltenham week starts at Taunton this afternoon where the Paul Nicholls (10 winners from last 25) trained Killaloan looks to have a great chance in the two mile handicap hurdle.
The five-year-old makes his handicap debut in a race that has got a lot easier with the defection of both Book Of Secrets and Light Em Up Nigel and his starting mark of 112 doesn’t look too onerous.
He didn’t show much on the flat when trained in Ireland by Johnny Murtagh but a change of stables and wind surgery have done the trick and he has improved in each of his three starts over hurdles culminating in last month’s 11 length course and distance win.
Further improvement looks likely and he can see off the chief Betdaq Betting Exchange rival Western General who is also racing in a handicap for the first time but off a 5lb lower mark than the selection.
Western General has run well enough on both starts under Rules to date and was nibbled at in the market on his last start at Exeter on New Year’s Day when fourth in heavy ground.
CHANT COMES BEFORE THE ROAR
⭕ 7.30 Wolverhampton Rock Chant can hopefully land the Monday nap ahead of the Cheltenham roar at 1.30pm tomorrow!
The Ian Williams trained runner is, not surprisingly, out again quickly after his smooth Lingfield success last week and should be able to shrug off the resulting 5lb statutory penalty. The step up in trip to two miles for the first time seemed to be just what the doctor ordered.
Heath Rise is going up in trip for the first time to two miles tonight and I’m not 100% sold on whether that will prove a positive. There was plenty to like about his second place at Wolverhampton over 1m 6f last time out but it’s now unchartered waters in terms of stamina.
⭕ 8.00 Wolverhampton Letmelivemylife throws in the occasional poor run and I would be in no rush to back him as likely favourite to land this. He’s up 2lb for a short head win at Chelmsford last time out.
I prefer the win and place claims of Bond Boy who is consistent enough at this level and looks a little over-priced given he has already won twice here this year.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
