9.0 BETDAQ BET WINS AT 13-2 FOR DAQMAN: After Brunton Blue (WON 5-1) on Tuesday, Daqman yesterday landed Lucky Royale (WON 13-2 from 9.0 on Betdaq) in the Back Or Lay at betdaq.com Handicap at Kempton Park.

TWO WINNING DAYS OUT OF TWO: It kicked Daqman into a profits roll with two winning days out of two for a total return of 30 points.

There’s massive trainer form right now. Shall we jump on the bandwagon, or are we too late? I would suggest that the most consistent of these high-strike trainers of the last two weeks must still be followed.

CLIVE COX (66% win-and-place strike-rate): A lot to like about Royal Ransom’s maiden prepping for a handicap mark (5.20 Kempton), though not a deal to like about his draw in stall 12.

There’s also been steady improvement from La Romantique, another nursery debutante, with Jamie Spencer booked.

It’s part of a five-horse programme of rides for ‘Spenny’ today, including another Marco Botti in the last, and one over a mile for Jeremy Gask, who did this column proud with a 9.0 winner yesterday. Unfortunately, both these rides are drawn 11.

JOHN GOSDEN (53% win and place): Spencer deserts the Botti stable and switches to Brian Meehan’s Safari Storm (5.50) in the second nursery of the night, drawn 2 but needing to bounce back to earlier form. Ditto Piranha.

Larwood looks nicely poised off a low weight but the one they’ll ‘let go’ tonight is John Gosden’s Main Focus. He was held on to in order to get the 7f in a big field at Newbury and didn’t like heavy ground at Ffos Las.

And, despite his 11 stall, I think they will now adopt the tactics of his CD maiden win in June when he made all the running here. A pleasant surprise to see 9.8 on the Daq, as I write. Back and lay.

Another CD winner, who looked impressive in a small field, the Dansili colt Dissent must be the stakes saver at 3.65 if you are backing Main Focus to win and can’t be around to try to cover in running.

EMMA LAVELLE (40% win only): There was massive promise in the performance of Kumasi Clan (2.10 Wincanton) over this kind of trip at Kempton, and Emma Lavelle takes him straight to a handicap now.

PAUL NICHOLLS (61% win and place): The imposing local horse, Rolling Aces, did plenty of talking in Irish Points and looks the pick of the Paul Nicholls trio in the Kumasi Clan race.

I’m laying Romulus D’Artaix. He’s the one with the hurdles form in the book but has himself a bridesmaid reputation with five races out of six under Rules placed without winning.

Trainer Alan King is in the same boat right now, badly missing strike, with 13 places without winning from 46 runners which have produced only four firsts.

There’s another clash of Nicholls and King in the 2.30 Hereford but, because the Nicholls, Doeslessthanme, has already won over fences, he has to give 12lb to the King, Invictus.
At 3.15 and 3.4 at time of writing, too close to call. Watch the Betdaq market for further information.

NICKY HENDERSON (52% win and place): A similar close call is King’s Lodge, Henderson’s only runner of the day, against Sertao, winner of a smart bumper and ridden by Tony McCoy, in the opener (12.45) at that great little track, Market Rasen.

SUE SMITH (48% win and place): I prefer the 6.8 offers about Sue Smith’s Daldini (2.20 race), owned by Paul Dixon, and down the handicap but back to form after a quiet spell.

PETER BOWEN (43% win and place): Peter Bowen’s North Island, is twice a CD winner and blinkered for the first time on the Lincolnshire course where Bowen does so well.

Tony McCoy prefers Babysitter to Mohayer but this baby is hardly a ‘sitter’, having been raised 11lb for his course win over shorter in April, and pulled up recently on his return.

The leading trainer, percentage wise, right now is Sarah Humphreys (60% win only) but McCoy jumps off her Carpincho (1.50) after he jumped badly at Chepstow.

Tony thinks Moonlight Drive is the real McCoy: jumped well enough to win at Wetherby and out of his depth at the Cheltenham Festival.

This must surely be a double-whammy chance. Moonlight Drive the win, Carpincho the lay. Last year’s winning stable is a worry with Storming Gale but he’ll do well to beat McCoy in full cry round this turning track
