CHAMPION LANDS 13 WINNING BETS: Champion-tipster Daqman landed a thrilling THIRTEEN winning bets on the Lingfield card of AW Championship races yesterday, including..

* Two Triple Whammys (win, place, lay)
* Two Double Whammys (place and lay)
* Daq Multiples double
* Four consecutive lays

SEVEN UP AGAINST PRICEWISE: He slammed Pricewise 7-0 to take their score in the National Hunt season to Daqman 47, Pricewise 15 (only the special bets listed at the foot of his column counted in the challenge). His 13 winning bets were:

1.40 Lingfield (3 wins)
WON 4-1 Volunteer Point (from 6.2)
WON place Alfajer, 3rd 7-1 (9.8)
WON lay Cold As Ice, unplaced 4-6

2.10 Lingfield (3 wins)

WON lay Lancelot Du Lac, 2nd 4-1

2.40 Lingfield (3 wins)

3.15 Lingfield (2 wins)

3.45 Lingfield (2 wins)
WON 4-6 Grendisar, and WON double with Moonrise Landing

DAY OF BIG RACES ROUND THE WORLD: There are more championship finals at Haydock today, plus two top races at Kempton and the Meydan World Cup series. The nap is at Kempton but note Daqman’s reduced stakes (win 20 only) because of the entirely new Haydock card, and the tips at Meydan are only to meet the Pricewise challenge.

ATTENTION, PLEASE! SEEKING A 15.0 PUNT

1.25 Haydock (Mares Hurdle Final) According to their past form, front-runners Lady of Longstone and At First Light are likely to be joined mid race by Bella, Ruby Rambler, Woodland Walk and Whatdoesthefoxsay (he says ’daft as a brush hurdle’).

So a fast pace on a sound(ish) surface seems likely, if the rain is only light, an ideal race for an early pozzy with a view to a trade. Lots to choose from. I shall have my pound on Attention Seeker (15.0 on BETDAQ), who has bags of stamina; James Reveley rides instead of the Reveley horse.

2.00 Haydock (Middle-Distance Final) This is a class-3 race posing as a class 2: in these circs, you usually look for one just out of the novice stage who is likely to improve. That suggests a bit of win and place Ballybolley (7.6).

2.35 Haydock (Stayers Hurdle Final) Fingerontheswitch has been murdered by the handicapper (up a stone for winning a class 3). Ditto Emerging Force, clobbered 12lb, despite winning only a nose.

Both wins were at Doncaster, and maybe the handicapper sees that course as the prep track bar none. The punters view might have to be: don’t back a Town Moor winner!

It would be handy here to have a Haydock winner but, of these dozens of Finals contenders, only Special Catch (in the 2.00), Hollow Blue Sky (3.10) and Baby King (3.45) have won on the course from the first five races.

While Nicky Richards (Sir Vinski) is hoping for some showers, Warren Greatrex (Alzammaar) needs it to stay dry: 9.4 offers.

Sykes cannot be overlooked, with Philip Hobbs back to form and the ground in his favour: 10.0 on BETDAQ as I write.

Pricewise has obviously been earwigging news of Petethepear but this favourite is being backed on potential from maiden form. Stable couldn’t be in better heart, however, and nice ride for Josh Moore.

NOTHING BUT BLUE SKY FROM NOW ON

3.10 Haydock (Staying Chase Final) That course winner I told you about, Hollow Blue Sky, was beaten by Gonalston Cloud in January. Check out what I said about Doncaster (see 2.35) and then have a guess how much Gonalston was jumped on by the handicapper. Yes, a stone!

But maybe there really is magic on Town Moor, since Gonalston Cloud came out with that punishment in his saddle and won again, so he’s now up a total of 32lb for a hat-trick.

Hpwever, Hollow Blue Sky (16.5 on BETDAQ) has a 22lb turn-around for nine lengths. Won at the equivalent meeting last year before these Finals were imposed on us.

Bodega (12.5) shouldn’t be a bigger price than Thinger Licht (11.0), having beaten him at Stratford, and being better bred for this step up to 3m.

TRADE GIFT BUT IT’S RESTORER v CHANNEL

2.15 Kempton (Magnolia Stakes) Noble Gift, who won the next race on the card, the Rosebery, a year ago, steps up a grade to this Listed. The official ratings say he can finish only fourth but he likes to lead so could be a trade horse from his opening position of 11.0 on BETDAQ this morning.

What Say You used to front-run a couple of seasons ago but the form book generally suggests that Noble Gift might get a soft lead.

The horse that was runner-up in last year’s Magnolia was second to Our Channel (3.8 offers) at Chelmsford in January, and Our Channel, who swerved AW Finals day at Lingfield yesterday, went on to pip Truth or Dare a neck over today’s CD earlier this month.

Restorer (at 4.1) is a glass horse but has already won a Listed, and was regarded as a Guineas and Derby hopeful until his setbacks. Goes well fresh and William Muir obviously thinks he’s got him right again, entering him in a Group 1 in Ireland.

Passover improved 33lb last summer but hasn’t been seen on a man-made surface since his juvenile days. Windshear, who goes well fresh, has been gelded but usually races over further.

9.8 FINANCE FOR A FIRST RUN HAT-TRICK

2.50 Kempton (Rosebery Stakes) Younger horses up to the age of five win this (9 out of 10), as you’d expect in a quality handicap.

Apart from Mark Johnston (Master Of Finance), the trainers in form for this have the horses at the foot of the handicap: Barsanti, Dutch Uncle and Freud (easy over, please).

Barsanti is asked to step up three grades but looked useful at Chelmsford; Dutch Uncle was progressive last Spring then aimed too high at Epsom and Royal Ascot; Freud can’t beat Pactolus on recent form.

The one who can beat Pactolus at the weights is Giantstepsahead, but he looks vulnerable as a front-runner and could be challenged for the lead by Master Of Finance, who has won first time out in the last two seasons.

Dutch Uncle at 7.4 and Master Of Finance at 9.8 stand out for value in the BETDAQ orange and, with the usual decent overround, I can back both.

4.35 Kempton Richard Hughes has already established himself as the trainer to follow at Kempton, with between 27% and 50% strike rates in different types of races.

His filly Duchess Of Marmite (you love her or hate her) is 311 at Kempton but has to give 10lb to Andrew Balding’s daughter of Yeats, Rose Above, who sneaks in at the foot of this handicap after easy wins in lower class, including here at Kempton. Jim Crowley is 2-2 on her.

If Noble Gift runs well earlier, you’d have to consider the same stable’s Seaside Sizzler, who has won four times at Kempton.

FLY THE FLAG WITH MUTHMIR IN MEYDAN

12.20 Meydan Front-runner One Man Band is the trade horse, from an opening position of 9.6. If you back him win and place in the hope that he holds on, you need a saver on Faulkner (14.0), because he’s from the same yard.

1.35 Meydan The same Doug Watson stable should land this with Polar River but I like it when they (‘them’ out there) smugly disregard a form line.

Could it be that Vale Dori (6.6 offers) can improve on her second to Polar River in the UAE Oaks?

2.10 Meydan Muthmir was magic for this column last year and, at 9.8 on BETDAQ, I shan’t desert h m against the local champion Ertijaal.

3.45 Meydan Come on you guys, we can win this! Our raiders Tryster and Intilaaq, at 3.4 and 3.8, leave us only a tight margin for a dutch, despite a 107% overround. But, go on, fly the flag again!

5.00 Meydan California Chrome has been tarnished by the wide draw and Frosted (3.4) may win this duel of the American stars.

* The Meydan selections are charged to the account of the Pricewise challenge only.
