WINNER-A-DAY DAQMAN 4-1: Daqman bids for his second winning nap of the New Year at Southwell today after Alright Dai (WON 11-5). He kept his winner-a-day sequence yesterday with Tea Sea (WON 4-1).
JUMPS ARE ALL ABANDONED: Jumps racing has been wiped out by the weather today but Daqman hopes to score in a 45-minute spell at Southwell and Wolverhampton.
HAGGAS CORNERS MARKET
⭕ 4.35 Southwell William Haggas had two winners and three seconds around the turn of the year, one of them, Carbine Harvester, on a solo mission to Southwell.
Haggas is back there today, with two runners in one race. Harry Burns who partnered Carbine Harvester, takes 3lb off Choreographic and Adam Farragher rides Art Market. They are top and bottom of the BETDAQ market and I shall back both.
Art Market has done the winning on turf but quickly looked exposed, whereas Choreographic showed the promise on AW and looked ‘wrong’ at 17.0 on Betdaq Betting Exchange.
A Cheveley Park daughter of On Her Toes, who twice landed the all-important Listed, she did well at today’s 7f, beaten a length, despite being badly drawn at Kempton.
MOON MAGIC FOR BECKETT
⭕ 5.05 Southwell A class 3? Wow; I’m over the moon! Or more likely I’m into Moon Over Miami.
Ralph Beckett has had five AW runners already this year and don’t forget that, along with Charlie Appleby, John Gosden and Wlliam Haggas, he will be aiming at the Winter Derby and the better handicaps that are gradually being introduced to the winter game.
Beckett, who gets an average of 18 winners a season on AW, won just such a prize at Wolverhampton last February with Max Vega, a Group-3 winner three times on turf at Newbury.
So there are really progressive animals about, and Moon Over Miami could be one of them.
Unbeaten (2-2 on grass) last Spring, he is the grandson of Adlerflug, who got Arc winner Torquator Tasso, King George winner Goliath and a Winter Derby star, Alenquer.
Moon Over Miami is the only four-year-old in the race. They have a huge advantage, particularly those lightly raced, where five-year-olds already exposed to the handicapper do not.
In fact, this is a race of largely older horses today, of which two more star stables – Andrew Balding (222 on AW in five seasons) and Roger Varian (210) – have already had winners in the New Year.
Glen Buck has had a run back (third) for Roger but the previous year won first time. Old Harrovian has similar form and anything on the move, as Moon Over Miami could be, would quickly assert.
The horse he beat first time out last season is now 100 rated and the third scored three wins from four, campaigning in the late summer and autumn.
MAKE MINE MIAKODA..
⭕ 5.20 Wolverhampton Among the new wave of successful young trainers, James Owen has already had two winners this year, diversifying between Jumps and the All Weather.
Miakoda debuts for Owen today, having transferred from Richard Hannon, despite a good final run. Has been gelded.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
