CAMBRIDGESHIRE TREASURE
⭕ 3.40 Newmarket (Cambridgeshire): STATS: STALLS 21 to 29 won seven in a row (2016 to 2022) but there are only 24 runners today.
Yesterday low numbers on the far rail won in smaller fields and before 2022 that side had 7, 1, 4, three of first four in 2015. and 4, 2, 6, 3, 8, 5 (six places out of the first seven) last year.
SPs of 20-1, 25-1, 40-1 (twice) and 50-1 have scored in the last eight years.
TRAINERS: The Saturday scene has been lit up by William Haggas, Karl Burke and Richard Hughes. Let’s see how they fit in today:
Burke, who won this last year off top-weight, has two drawn on the far rail – Thunder Run (5) and Boiling Point (6) – in adjacent stalls.
Thunder Run has been tested over 10f and more, going well in the John Smith’s at York (Erzindjan fourth), and Boiling Point was pipped a head in a Group 3 at York last month, just held over 1m 1f.
Haggas and Hughes are both drawn high. Treasure Time (21) has had a quiet season with autumn in mind and Real Gain (22), who used to waste his chances by pulling hard, returned with some composure, third in the Golden Mile at Goodwood.
REST OF THE FORM: Fifth Column (18) is 2lb worse off with the half-length third home behind him at York, front-runner Sir Paul Ramsey (stall 9 today), one of Charlie Johnston’s three.
Kevin Philippart De Foy (Mr Swivell in 2) is just 1-23 and he’s had two odds-on shots beaten in the last few days. Indalo (3) takes a keen hold and didn’t get the 9f at Goodwood.
The Crisfords (current form 110100) got it so right with Zanthos yesterday and have turned around Treble Tee (7) in the build-up to this race.
Westridge (12) has won twice over further and jockey Billy Loughnane was superb on Silent Love at Newmarket yesterday. Fort George (10) has improved 21lb since winning on this course in May.
DAQMAN’S VERDICT: From a stalls-centre start, jockeys will no doubt favour the near side where the winners came from yesterday.
In adjacent stalls, Real Gain and Treasure Time, are lightly raced with this in mind.
The Burke pair, Boiling Point and Thunder Run, come out of adjacent stalls on the far side.
Betdaq Betting Exchange (10.30 am offers): 9.4 Real Gain, 16 Boiling Point, 19.5 Treasure Time, 43 Thunder Run.
COME ON, MURPHY, MY SON!
⭕ 1.50, 2.25 and 3.00 Newmarket: I have avoided the 2yo tests so far and the fate of favourites suggests dodging the traps today.
Their score is only 1-8 in both the Royal Lodge (1.50) and the Cheveley Park Stakes (2.25).
But the Middle Park (3.00) field looks largely exposed and The Publican’s Son (Oisin Murphy booked) has a reputation such that he may be much shorter than the 5.9 I took on BETDAQ.
NEXT IS TIM’S TOP EARNER
⭕ 2.05 Haydock I’m Next is Tim Easterby’s top three-year-old earner and he’s found the three-time winner a chance to step up here on ground he likes off 8st 3lb.
Clever placing so far has produced strikes at 17-1 (twice) and 11-2 and he has won when wanted with big weights: 9st 5lb and 9st 11lb.
Betdaq Betting Exchange 9.9 taken, along with 7.3 last year’s winner Blue Storm, who had a year off to wait for this race again.
AMBITION READY TO STEP UP
⭕ 3.15 Haydock ‘Saturday man’ Karl Burke has the Cambridgeshire as his main ambition but the apple of his eye today is surely the unbeaten First Ambition (BETDAQ 10.0) in this little handicap at Haydock.
This Ambition is first foal of his magnificent mare Laurens, six times Group-1 winner, including the French Oaks.
Laurens never won by more than threeparts of a length in eight major strikes, so worry not that First Ambition hung on by only a nose, making all at Southwell in a lower-level novice stakes the last day.
FIRE FANCIED FOR REVENGE
⭕ 5.45 Market Rasen Nicky Henderson’s Goblet Of Fire was favourite to win the Summer Handicap here in July but was almost knocked out of the race two out, fifth behind Cavern Club (going good).
Now 6lb better off with that winner, he returns over the same CD, where similar summer ground is forecast for this afternoon.
But the market failed to make the difference this morning, with Cavern Club and Goblet Of Fire both around 5.5 on BETDAQ.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
