PRINCE DAQMAN PROFIT AT 100-30: Daqman’s nap, Sovereign Sea, was beaten a short-head at 100-30 at Newcastle, the only surviving Friday meeting but he finished the day in profit with a 20-point hit from Oriental Prince (WON also 100–30).

HE GOES FOR A SIX HIT TODAY: Daqman joins terrestrial TV at Ffos Las and Chelmsford today, with six bets.

SHE’S CHERIE ON THE ICING..

⭕ 1.15 Ffos Las This Grade-2 Towton Novices Chase, unusually 2m 3.5f, has been moved from frozen Wetherby to semi-frozen Ffos Las.

It certainly looks more like a Chepstow event, with no Northern trainers and none from Berkshire and the South.

This is the race that brought us Blaklion and Ahoy Senor off a 150 and more rating, but Handstands (143) is the best on offer today.

The hat-trick-winning hurdler relies on his Sandown defeat of Resplendent Grey at today’s level, that one beaten by Hyland at Cheltenham before The Jukebox Man slammed Hyland on Boxing Day, though all that was over 3m.

Saint Davy was third, four lengths off Handstands in the Sandown race but, as a freegoing sort, should be suited by today’s drop back in trip.

He was a Grade-3 hurdle winner last year at this time, gets 5lb from Handstands and his stable has been doing well.

But, as a mare, Cherie d’Am gets 7lb. Current leading trainer Dan Skelton chose this test over the Wetherby fences in preference to Newbury next week but it’s not to be.

WILLIAMS WALK IN THE PARK

⭕ 1.51 Ffos Las After four winners in 11 days – six out of seven placed in his last three days at the races – Evan Williams shows his handicap skills in this 2m 4f hurdle by getting a CD winner (Walkinthewoods) in here on 10st 8lb and a youngster (Jukebox Joker) on the minimum, both including claims. Both around 13.0 on Betdaq Betting Exchange.

He’s cut them well adrift of the top-weights, Dangerous Touch (12st) and The Blueberry One (11st 10lb), though both are maidens!

Twice a hurdles winner, including over this CD off a similar mark, Walkinthewoods caught the eye at Windsor the last day.

ROSS IS SOMETHING SPECIAL

⭕ 2.58 Ffos Las The first of two at class-3 level on terrestrial TV; let’s hope the team are up to that level and not bogged down with badinage.

Rosscahill goes for a course treble on his handicap debut. Nigel Twiston-Davies claimed he was working a diamond among the roughs but had a solid 3m Irish Point success behind him to suggest Rosscahill could be something special.

James Owen got One Big Bang second to Shoot First in a Premier stayers handicap at Haydock in November but both have disappointed since.

Up For Parol has been placed so many times (11 in all and currently 323-2) that he gives the impression he doesn’t want to win.

Mahland tailed off on his reappearance but is in very good hands (Mel Rowley and Charlie Deutsch).

KEEP RUNNING IN THE FRONT

⭕ 3.31 Ffos Las Charlie Deutsch has a favourite’s chance here on a hat-trick hopeful for Venetia Williams.

Ostrava Du Berlais faces a big leap in class after an 18lb rise for beating modest company at Ludlow and Taunton.

But Venetia will be keen to go to the next level with one that former owner Simon Munir gave up on!

Dan Skelton has already taken Beat Box to this level, completing a double which put the nine-year-old up 15lb.

Skelton has two runners, Harry Derham two, too! But the 8-1 front-runner, appropriately named Keep Running, is the Berkshire representative from Warren Greatrex yard.

LUCKY JIM FOR CHELMSFORD

⭕ 2.10 Chelmsford The stayers’ race at 1.30 is made difficult by James Owen’s treble chance bid; which of his three might set the pace, which one win?

Whatever happens there, Owen has just one in each of the next three events, starting with Jaamir in this 7f handicap. Watch the market; he started out a 20-1 shot this morning.

But, though a rank outsider at 66-1 (twice) and 100-1 in the late summer, he has been well backed (down to 6-1 and 100-30) in two runs this winter, the best of them three-lengths fourth here at Chelmsford.

Mashaan made all over the CD here on Boxing Day but I can’t get excited about Ravensbourne (0-15), though he has gone better since joining Michael Keady just before Christmas.

Windsor Pass is another who is thereabouts but has the unenviable record of 0-28 (of which 0-11 on AW, though untried here at Chelmsford).

Rising Force has been 12 times placed in 20 AW starts, but winner of just two, both at Chelmsford over 1m.

Thomas Equinas is five times a Chelmsford winner, three of them at today’s trip.

⭕ 2.40 Chelmsford Since Christmas, William Haggas has had winners at each of Lingfield, Southwell and Wolverhampton.

Waiting All Night (3rd) and Haggas’s Altmore (6th) finished close up in a hot class-3 at Wolver on Boxing Day. Altmore is 4lb better off and 11.0 on BETDAQ was a gimme this morning.
