DAQMAN LANDS BACK-TO-BACK NAPS AMONG THREE WINS IN A ROW: After Monmiral (WON 10-11) went clear on the opening day of Aintree, Daqman landed back-to-back naps yesterday with the 11-lengths Melling Chase scorer Fakir d’Oudairies (WON 2-1) among three winners in a row on a profitable second day, two of them taking his score in the value challenge to Daqman 5, Pricewise 4.

✔️ WON 11-8 CHANTRY HOUSE
✔️ WON 2-1 FAKIR D’OUDAIRIES (nap)
✔️ WON 15-2 LIVELOVELAUGH

* Daqman opposed a third consecutive losing favourite, Bravemansgame (2nd 13-8), giving his Lays Logic 3-3 at the meeting so far.

FULL COVERAGE OF THE 2021 GRAND NATIONAL: Daqman has bets ranging from 12.5 to 168.0 in the Grand National but first here’s his comprehensive kit in a five-day preview. Check out the Check out the DAQMAN ARCHIVE!

THE GRAND NATIONAL AT A GLANCE

THEY JUST LOVE A NATIONAL: Magic Of Light (second in the Grand National in 2019 with Anibale Fly fifth and fourth the year before), Burrows Saint (won the Irish Grand National, Acapella Bourgeois third), Potters Corner (won Midlands Grand National and Coral Welsh Grand National, Yala Enki third and also third two other years), Takingrisks (won Scottish Grand National, Cloth Cap third), Ballyoptic (runner-up Scottish Grand National), Blaklion (fourth 2017 Grand National), Cabaret Queen (won Ladbrokes Munster National and Kerry National), Vieux Lion Rouge (finished the course in four Aintree Nationals).

CLASS (won Graded chases): Acapella Bourgeois, Alpha Des Obeaux, Anibale Fly, Any Second Now, Balko Des Flos, Ballyoptic, Blaklion, Bristol De Mai, Burrows Saint, Canelo, Cloth Cap, Chris’s Dream, Definitely Red, Jett, Kimberlite Candy, Lake View Lad, Lord Du Mesnil, Magic Of Light, Mister Malarky, Potters Corner, Sub Lieutenant, Takingrisks, Talkischeap, Tout Est Permis, Vieux Lion Rouge, Yala Enki.

NEVER FALLEN: Ami Desbois, Burrows Saint, Chris’s Dream, Hogans Height, Jett, Kimberlite Candy, Milan Native, Mister Malarky, Ok Corral, Shattered Love, Sub Lieutenant, Talkischeap, Vieux Lion Rouge

HANDICAP WELL IN: Acapella Bourgeois, Any Second Now, Bristol de Mai, Cloth Cap, Lord Du Mesnil

NEGATIVES: Wearing blinkers, visor or hood: Acapella Bourgeois, Alpha Des Obeaux, Any Second Now, Potters Corner (first time). See also Tuesday for ground negatives and Wednesday’s ABC guide on age, weight, long absences etc.

50.0 FOR DAQMAN’S HIDDEN HORSE

⭕  5.15 Aintree (Grand National): 30 fences; 40 runners: 4m 2f

1 CLOTH CAP: 6.6 from 17.0 on BETDAQ He’s a stone well in. And Daqman followers who had 17.0 ante-post on BETDAQ are quids in. Or to be less vernacular and more to the value point: they have around 10 points of ‘overs.’

Winner of the Ladbrokes Trophy in the hoofprints of Gold Cup winners Denman, Bobs Worth and Native River, and Grand National winner Many Clouds, yet residing on 10st 5lb for an armchair ride off 148 when his new rating would have him just 5lb behind topweight Bristol de Mai on 162.

2 Burrows Saint: 12.5 Another rarity. We get Irish Grand National winners taking the Aintree version (Bobbyjo, Numbersixvalverde) but not often can we put them up when the ground is riding good (or the easy side of).

Three wins in a row in the Spring of 2019 and, at only eights years old, no worries waiting until this year for his Aintree chance.

You have to go back to 2005 for the Willie Mullins trained National winner, Hedghunter, owned by Trevor Hemmings and ridden by Ruby Walsh; all three would reign as colourful champions in the spectrum of the great sport.

Today they are in opposition: Willie’s back in the National big time with Burrows Saint but Hemmings has Cloth Cap, while Ruby’s dad is in the final countdown with Any Second Now.

3 Any Second Now: 24.5 There are some excellent stayers in this, like Kimberlite Candy, Lord Du Mesnil and Potters Corner, but on the evidence we have, they need to be kicking up the mud.

Acapella Bourgeois, Any Second Now, Chris’s Dream and Magic Of Light have won in most conditions.

Any Second Now fits the old way of winning the National, which was to train your horse for the race, a year, even two in advance. If that were true he’d have kept his weight down in hurdles races for more than a year now.

That’s exactly what he’s done, plotted through to this day by wise-owl Ted Walsh, who has done the trick before with Papillon in 2000.

4 Talkischeap: 50.0 The hidden horse of the race. Ten-lengths winner of the Sandown Gold Cup (2019) over 3m 5f on good ground when only seven and put away for this. If only Alan King’s stable was in better form..

5 Hogan’s Height: 168.0 Jumped the National fences to victory in the 2019 Grand Sefton. So height ok but how far will he stay?

Top 12 to finish Acapella Bourgeois 31.0, Bristol De Mai 30.0, Magic Of Light 24.0, Minella Times 11.5, Potters Corner 27.0, Takingrisks 27.0, Yala Enki 54.0.

TEA THE TOAST FOR NAPS HAT-TRICK

⭕  1.45 Aintree Limbering up for the Grand National in this handicap hurdle is the Hogan’s Height team of Jamie Snowden and Gavin Sheehan with £140,000-buy Stoney Mountain, a winner here for Henry Daly in October, 2019, following up in a Grade 3 at today’s trip at Haydock.

Rachael Blackmore looks poised for at least a place and a sporting nap on Tea Clipper: Grade-3 Silver Trophy winner at Chepstow on good ground and third in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham.

BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE VALUE 10.0 Tea Clipper, 33.0 Stoney Mountain

⭕  2.25 Aintree (Mersey Novices Hurdle) From 2m to 2m 6f, on good ground and on heavy, Dreal Deal has won six in a row, Flat and Jumps, his hurdles rating rising 39lb.

After a remarkable training feat by Roman McNally, the deal was to swerve Cheltenham for a Spring campaign.

With two hits already at Punchestown, this is the first leg. The rapid improver and Grade-2 winner My Drogo is the main danger today.

BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE VALUE 9.4 Dreal Deal

⭕  3.00 Aintree (Magull Novices Chase) A race which launched Sprinter Sacre and Douvan now seems certain (watch your language, Daqman!) to go to Shishkin from this vantage point 19lb higher than his nearest rival.

⭕  3.35 Aintree (Stayers Hurdle) Former champion Paisley Park renews rivalry with Thyme Hill, who beat him in the Ladbrokes Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury in the autumn, but whom he beat in the Long Walk at Ascot just before Christmas.

In fact, the races were both run to their ratings, with Paisley Park now clinging on to his status by just a pound.

Like Paisley Park, If The Cap Fits and Roksana, one-two in this in 2019, have to give two years to improving seven-year-olds Thyme Hill and Diol Ker, who was the last horse to beat Monkfish!

In the same rising-star category is Third Wind, who prefers a Flat track, but probably needs softer ground. Great race.

BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE VALUE 15 Diol Ker, 20 Third Wind

⭕  4.15 Aintree Spiritofthegames is most tipsters’ pick but his record of 1-13 chases is off-putting; so, too, his preference for Cheltenham: he’s run there in eight of his last 13 races.

Happygolucky is building the same sort of profile but, at seven, can still be given the benefit of the doubt.

I’ll also have a pound on Fagan, his Newbury romp suggesting he’s brought back to his old winning ways in Ireland by Alex Hales.

BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE VALUE 14.0 Fagan

⭕  6.20 Aintree Your ‘getting out’ bet could be Balco Coastal or The Gossiper but, if you have just a pound or two left, a Sure Touch for a final-fling flutter.

Olly Murphy has climbed into the top dozen trainers this season, but his strike rate takes him into the top six. Sure Touch is his kingpin for next season.

BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE VALUE 35.0 Sure Touch
