REMINDER: DAQMAN’S ABC GUIDE TO THE GRAND NATIONAL

RACHAEL NATIONAL FAVOURITE

She’s out on her own. Rachael Blackmore, winner on the opening day with Dancing On My Own, put another big prize Inthepocket yesterday (pictured below), to become the darling of Aintree 2023.

Punters decided last night, ‘if they can’t beat her, join her,’ and lifted her mount Ain’t That A Shame to the front of the Grand National market, a new favourite for the world’s greatest race. After two days, the Aintree scene shows GB 8-6 up on Ireland:

LEADING TRAINERS: Henry De Bromhead (2), Nicky Henderson (2), Fergal O’Brien (2), Chris Barber, Paul Nicholls, Joseph O’Brien, Gordon Elliott, John McConnell, Warren Greatrex, Lucinda Russell, Willie Mullins.

TOP JOCKEYS: Rachael Blackmore (2), Nico De Boinville (2), William Biddick, Paddy Brennan, Harry Cobden, Ben Harvey, Liam Harrison, Stephen Mulqueen, Davy Russell, J J Slevin, Sam Twiston-Davies, Mark Walsh.

RAMBLER RATES A GOOD THING

⭕ 5.15 Aintree (Grand National): 30 fences; 40 runners; 4m 2f

DAQMAN has searched the stats, the form, the market and every runner’s jumping ability in his search for the Grand National winner and the value on BETDAQ.

FORTUNE COOKIES Horses followed with this marathon in mind were Ashtown Lad (ran yesterday), Capodanno, Corach Rambler and Noble Yeats.

BETDAQ VALUE A level-stakes 20 points is invested on Corach Rambler at 11.5 on BETDAQ this morning, with Noble Yeats 18.5.

ANTE-POST Looking for value in the ante-post books, Daqman took an early 27.0 Capodanno at last week’s final-declaration stage.

ABC GUIDE In Wednesday’s close examination of all the runners on form and stats, none ticked all eight boxes but two ticked seven of them – Delta Work and Lifetime Ambition – while there were six pointers each for Ain’t That A Shame, Corach Rambler, Longhouse Poet and Minella Trump.

NEVER FALLEN No one stat alone will pick the winner but this one stands up well! Here’s the safety-first pick:

Ain’t That A Shame, Capodanno, Corach Rambler, Delta Work, Gaillard Du Mesnil, Lifetime Ambition, Le Milos, Longhouse Poet, Minella Trump and Noble Yeats have never fallen.

DAQMAN ORDER IN From all Daqman’s evaluations, he forecasts 12 to finish:

1: CORACH RAMBLER (pictured below) 10lb better than his future rating; ticks six stats boxes and has never fallen. In any other race, he’s the proverbial ‘good thing.’

2: AIN’T THAT A SHAME Munster National runner-up and Power Chase fourth. The rain – and the money! – has come for him and for Rachael Blackmore so the value has gone.

3: CAPODANNO Lightly raced with this in mind. Overlooked by Paul Townend, who prefers Gaillard Du Mesnil.

4: DELTA WORK Placed last year and solid support all week, as the Gordon Elliott No 1 over Galvin (Davy Russell).

5: NOBLE YEATS Last year’s winner whose class puts him in the frame again.

6 Lifetime Ambition, 7 Our Power, 8 Longhouse Poet, 9 Coko Beach, 10 Roi Mage, 11 Galvin, 12 Gaillard Du Mesnil.

WEST WAS BRED TO WIN THIS

⭕ 2.25 Aintree (3m handicap hurdle) At the time I wrote up Banbridge for Aintree, I named Jonjo O’Neill’s An Tailliur for this, saying ‘flat track on good ground’ was a gimme but he improved on soft to run sixth in the Pertemps Final, nicely prepping for this.

Betdaq Betting Exchange value I’ll take the 10.5 this morning and, for my second string, 7.2 about the lightly-raced West Balboa, a Yeats mare out of a Flemensfirth, so seeming stamina in abundance. Won the Lanzarote.

RAVEN KNOCKING AT THE DOOR

⭕ 3.00 Aintree (Mersey Novices Hurdle) SPs show six winning favourites and one other short-shot winning in the decade.

Hermes Allen’s Cheltenham defeat is off-putting and the Supreme Novices form held up yesterday, when fourth and ninth at Cheltenham, Inthepocket and Strong Leader, were the one-two in the Top Novices Hurdle.

Betdaq Betting Exchange value Splitting them at the festival was Dark Raven, running second just before the last. BETDAQ 4.9.

MAKE ALLOWANCE FOR MARIE

⭕ 3.35 Aintree (Liverpool Hurdle) Winner’s rating on the day has steadied between 152 and 163 since Thistlecrack won it of 174. That puts the bottom four in the market well out of it.

And, until last year’s success for Sire Du Berlais, younger horses – seven and eight – had won six in a row leaving us to choose between Home By The Lee, Maries Rock and Flooring Porter.

Sire Du Berlais was back to form at 33-1 in the Stayers’ Hurdle at Cheltenham but that was his third victory there; he’s a modest 3-23 elsewhere and has never put two strikes together in his life.

The flat track will suit Home By The Lee, fifth at Cheltenham after a bad mistake.

Flooring Porter won the 2021 and 2022 Stayers Hurdle, but was said to have had a poor preparation for his failed hat-trick bid.

Maries Rock follows the current Henderson Plan: put them up in trip and make a new career for them! Beat Dashel Drasher at Cheltenham in January further than did Sire Du Berlais at the festival.

Betdaq Betting Exchange value Missing Cheltenham and getting 7lb today make Maries Rock worth her 5.2 on BETDAQ.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
