DAQMAN WINS THE TOPHAM AT A MASSIVE 24.0: Daqman‘s love of the National fences saw him land another big catch yesterday with Cadmium in the Topham Trophy as yet another example of the fantastic value available on BETDAQ.

WON 8-1 CADMIUM (from 24.0 on BETDAQ)
WON 3-1 LOSTINTRANSLATION

NOW HE TRIES TO LAND 32.0 AND 120.0 SHOTS: Daqman goes fishing in the deep end for the big one again today with 32.0 and 120.0 BETDAQ bets in the big race this afternoon, as he tries to follow up his stunning recent record in the Grand National with two out of three and an oh-so-close second in the last three seasons. LIDO PLACE FOR RACHAEL BLACKMORE

DAQMAN’S BIG-RACE ORDER IN

1 Rathvinden He’s been on my Aintree short-list, and on Willie Mullins, since he won the four-mile NH Chase at Cheltenham last March and is only 4lb higher, despite a brilliant prep, winning the Bobbyjo in February which was amazingly his first senior chase. Has all the attributes and comes comparatively fresh to the race, 8lb well in on the ratings because the Bobbyjo came after the National weights were published.

2 Tiger Roll Small like Red Rum, last year’s winner defied the stats – that they don’t come back – by trotting up in a hurdle and was devastating in the Cheltenham Cross-Country.

Is backing him at a short price risky? His trainer thinks so: he’s running 10 others in the race!

Is he high in the weights? Yes, but 8lb well in on the handicapper’s revised ratings.

3 Valseur Lido Ran well in the race last year and has been manoeuvred into this year’s handicap 12lb lower. To be ridden by Rachel Blackmore, second in the Irish jockeys’ list, and a winner at both Cheltenham and Aintree. A place punt at a crazy 120.0 the win, 18.0 the place.

4 Walk In The Mill Good run at Cheltenham before winning the Becher Chase over the National fences in December and hurdling afterwards to keep his weight down. Big at 32.0 on BETDAQ (7.4 place).

5 Anibale Fly Mark Walsh rides after Barry Geraghty broke a leg in yesterday’s Topham. Unfortunately, after I took 17.0 the Gold Cup third become top weight here, having to give 10lb to Rathvinden just three weeks after Cheltenham. Fourth last year with 10st 13lb but now has to carry 11st 10lb.

6 Ultragold Won back-to-back Topham Trophies 2017/18, second in the Grand Sefton and third in the Becher Chase (3m 2f) in December, making four consecutive places over the Grand National fences. ‘He loves it there,’ says trainer Tizzard.

7 Rock The Kasbah Second in the Sandown Gold Cup (3m 5f) last April and winner over almost three-and-a-half miles at Cheltenham in November. But has just had fifth long break, racing only five times since October 2017.

8/9 Vintage Clouds and Lake View Lad Lucky Trevor Hemmings has won this three times – Ballabriggs, Hedgehunter, Many Clouds – and has three chances today.

Lake View Lad improved 22lb in the last year or so. Vintage Clouds was third and fourth in both Welsh and Scottish Nationals and runner-up in the Ultima at Cheltenham last month after a wind op. Warriors Tale may struggle for stamina.

Finishers: Jury Duty is interesting, as a classy winner in England and America. Mala Beach will love the trip. General Principle is an Irish National winner. Joe Farrell is a big improver but needs top of the ground. Pleasant Company went close a year ago. Go Conquer is with the right stable.

Spare a thought: Nico De Boinville (Step Back) has had two National rides. Fell at the first; fell at the first. Step up, Nico!

PLAY POKER! I’M NOT BLUFFING

1.45 Aintree (3m handicap hurdle) David Pipe is a three-time winner of this since 2011 and has brought 11.0 BETDAQ bet Poker Play to peak form at the right time.

Gets around a stone from the Pertemps winner Sire Du Berlais, and so far really only the novice form is holding up from Cheltenham, perhaps because they have scope and are lightly raced, so the festival didn’t take so much out of them.

However, that was Sire De Berlais’ first race in three months and Jonjo O’Neill junior reduces his penalty to 5lb.

THE CHOSEN ONE BUT HE’S 10.0

2.25 Aintree (Mersey Novices Hurdle) Angels Breath seemingly flopped in the Supreme but the three in front of him were Felix Desjy, Fakir D’Oudairies and Aramon, who have all shone this week, and the grey ran as if needing further after all.

Brewinupastorm’s fourth to Champ and fourth in the Ballymore could be good enough.

But Gordon Elliott had a hurdles double here yesterday and he puts Chosen Mate up to a trip where he has winning relatives. Big at 11.0.

APPLE’S JADED? THEN ‘ROK’ ON

3.40 Aintree (Liverpool Hurdle) The magic mare Apple’s Jade can bounce back here having been found to have a cold in the nose (haven’t we all) after flopping in the Champion Hurdle.

Sam Spinner, second in the Stayer’s at Cheltenham, is unreliable. He was beaten favourite in that race in 2018 and beaten favourite in today’s race last year (15 lengths third).

Roksana was runner-up over this CD in the Sefton last year and impressed in the Mares Hurdle at Cheltenham. Value BETDAQ offers of 9.8 if you want a decent deputy should Apples remain jaded.

ANOTHER YEAR: ANOTHER JONJO

4.20 Aintree (Mildmay Chase) Oldgrangewood, fourth in this last year and now 9lb lower, wasn’t punished at Cheltenham.

It’s with a mix of emotion (he’s been good to us this season) that I stand by Mister Malarky, the Reynoldstown winner, a respectable fourth in the RSA at Cheltenham.

After an earlier 14.0 Oldgrangewood, I took 7.0 Mister Malarky, hopefully another for young Jonjo O’Neill’s riding skills, with his usual rider, Robbie Power (two winners on the opening day), mainly resting today because he’s on Jury Duty! Wild card at 20.0?
