DAQMAN 24-9 UP ON PRICEWISE: PITCHES 18.0 GUINEAS OUTSIDER: The Curragh Guineas will take place today after an inspection, but the ground will be soft-heavy and Daqman fancies an 18.0 outsider, though also has to have another small bet in case his Newmarket Guineas tip Wembley redeems himself. Daqman takes on Pricewise 24-9 ahead.

DON’T FORGET IT’S YOUR SATURDAY SPECIAL DAY: Says Daqman: ‘I had winners at 15-1 and 7-1 and naps at 7-2 and 9-4 this week and could have tipped for England, then rain soaked the form book until the pages are unreadable. Keep stakes low. At least we have the BETDAQ Saturday-special bonus of no commission!’ Headlines:

MONAASIB 18.0 IS GUINEAS VALUE

⭕ 3.20 Curragh (Irish 2,000 Guineas) GOING forecast: Soft-heavy. DRAW: Stalls 2 to 8 (6-9). TRAINERS: Aidan O’Brien (9), Jessica Harrington (1).

The choice is made for us; we have to back horses capable of handling the ground and/or from a low draw, so they don’t have to race another half-mile down the outside in fetlock-deep mud.

First guess is which Ballydoyle colt will play sprinter for the day, deputed to bust a gut from the front. Will he stay there?

We then have to guess whether the Newmarket Guineas winner, and French Guineas failure, Poetic Flare, can manage a third Guineas in three weeks.

Unheard of in my experience, with Turtle Island (1994) coming closest, pipped at

Longchamp before winning here today.

More surmise: Jim Bolger has first-jockey Kevin Manning on Poetic Flare, giving him preference over Mac Swiney, who also has the hindrance of the ‘coffin box’ stall one.

1 MONAASIB Best value. Ran High Definition to threeparts of a length in the Beresford and kept on, third, to Poetic Flare in the Leopardstown 2,000 Guineas Trial, first run after a wind op. Comes here fresh, without a Guineas run to date.

2 WEMBLEY Ran second in the Dewhurst to the French Guineas winner, St Mark’s Basilica. Was he short of work before the Newmarket Guineas or was it the firm ground? Says Aidan O’Brien: ‘We always thought he wanted good ground or faster.’ Confused? Now read on.

3 VAN GOGH Well drawn. Won Saint-Cloud Criterium on heavy; and another one seemingly unsuited to firm conditions in the Newmarket Guineas, but O’Brien says: ‘We thought he wanted nice ground!’

4 LA BARROSA Well-drawn; runner-up in the Craven Stakes to subsequent Newmarket Guineas second, Master Of The Seas, but well behind Van Gogh on heavy in France last autumn in the Saint-Cloud Criterium, so doubt about today’s ground.

5 LUCKY VEGA Third in the Newmarket Guineas but deep ground not sure to suit. Strong early favourite for today; eased.

BETDAQ EXCHANGE BETTING 18.0 Monaasib, 11.0 La Barrosa, 6.4 Wembley and Van Gogh, 5.6 Lucky Vega

BACK FFION AND BOARDMAN FORM

⭕ 1.55 Haydock Sunset Breeze ran well in the Victoria Cup but, as a hat-trick scorer over 6f, may be found out over the seven on heavy ground.

Cold Stare and Lincoln Park are the CD winners here on the soft. Cold Stare has won twice inside a week and Lincoln Park’s sole success in two years (1-21) was over 6f on AW.

Tom Collins, a winner over a mile on soft, disappointed on firm ground in the Thirsk Hunt Cup, his first race for William Haggas after gelding and a move from David Elsworth’s yard.

Ligghtly raced, Ffion was runner-up here at Haydock earlier in the month to Boardman, who looks a hugely improved animal (15lb in two races).

Lays Logic I can’t have the overnight favourite, Newbury specialist Molls Memory, who is 2200 at Haydock and well behind Boardman at York.

BETDAQ value 6.4 Ffion

⭕ 2.40 York Four-year-olds should dominate a race like this, a Group-3 for staying fillies. And history says they do.

The one who heads the market and the ratings also loves the ground and the trip.

So it would be very easy to Believe In Love, if only she hadn’t had such a long break and must carry a Group-3 penalty.

NEBULOSA CAN HIT THE HEIGHTS

⭕ 3.00 Haydock (Silver Bowl) Andrew Balding continues to be the trainer to follow with winners on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday this week.

Nebulosa has won twice over 7f, one of them on soft, but is bred for stamina right up t o 2m so it’s quite remarkable what she’s done.

Raadobarg has scored back-to-back wins at a lower level but now steps ups three grades. Similarly, Seasett won his first handicap in class 5 and must now bridge the class gap.

Wobwobwob scored in class 3 at York last week but has 8lb more. Master Zoffany won at Chester but Haydock is a different track altogether. Headingly may be stumped in this company.

Heights Of Abraham has won over a mile and 10 furlongs, romping home at Ripon the last day, but the form of Teodolina’s Ascot success has been let down by both second and third.

BETDAQ value 7.0 Nebulosa

MUJBAR MIGHT SLAY THE DRAGON

⭕ 3.35 Haydock (Sandy Lane Stakes) Dragon Symbol is upbeat en – on firm and on AW – leaping 22lb this year, and both sides of his breeding suggest that he can cope well with soft ground.

Mujbar has a Group 3 success to his name (Horris Hill, Newbury on heavy, 7f) and a fair effort in the Greenham, when his free-running style suggested dropping him back to today’s 6f.

He should be giving Saint Lawrence a bit of weight on the strength of their Horris Hill form

BETDAQ value 7.6 Mujbar

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
