TWO WAYS TO WIN A MILLION: A lesson in economics. Doncaster St Leger, value to the winner £421,355; Irish Champion Stakes, value to the winner £712k. Aidan O’Brien, with three runners in one (out of seven) and four in the other (out of eight) must be favourite to win the £1.1m total. In fact, says Daqman, he can take away a million from just one race (see below).

GET THIS 246-1: Looking back over his selections, Daqman coincidentally fancies You Got To Me (BETDAQ 7.5 this morning) in the St Leger and Get It (33.0) in the Portland Handicap, a 246–1 double.

GROUP-1 TREBLE: Daqman opens with three Group-1 races in 50 minutes, with the Matron Stakes and Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown before the St Leger.

AUTUMN DOUBLE: In his four handicap bets he sets up two for the autumn double of Cambridgeshire and Cesarewitch.

SHE’S THE FORTUNA COOKIE!

⭕ 2.50 Leopardstown (Matron Stakes): The first of three Group 1 races in 50 minutes.

They’ve named this Group 1 the Coolmore America ‘Justify’ Matron Stakes but there is no produce of Justify in sight; Coolmore relies on a Frankel called Ylang Ylang.

Their weekend daughter of Justify is Opera Singer, who is stepped up to 1m 4f to run in the Vermeille at Longchamp tomorrow, after winning the 10f Nassau Stakes, to make up for her mile defeat by Porta Fortuna in the Coronation at Royal Ascot.

That leaves FORTUNE COOKIE Porta Fortuna (117) as top-rated in this one-mile Matron at BETDAQ 2.25 over Fallen Angel (116), with Ylang Ylang (111) in third.

In a Group 1 a year ago – the Moyglare – Fallen Angel had Porta Fortuna (4th) behind her, but she was only eighth in the Newmarket 1,000 Guineas when Porta Fortuna was runner-up.

Ylang Ylang won the Fillies Mile on soft last October, her only Group 1, having fallen short since, 5th in the Guineas, 6th in the Oaks.

ECONOMICS ONE IN A MILLION

⭕ 3.25 Leopardstown (Irish Champion Stakes): Ratings, form and stats: see Daqman Tuesday.

Why is Aidan O’Brien running last year’s English and Irish Derby winner, Auguste Rodin, against this year’s Irish Derby winner, Los Angeles, together in one race?

Could it be, they would lose nothing in defeat, the one by the other, and second prize here is as big as most pay-days for the winner.

In fact, his seeming third string today, Luxembourg, has already won most in this race, as the winner in 2022 and second to Auguste Rodin last season.

Six Champion Stakes in a row for Ballydoyle would rake in over £1million if their pacemaker, Hans Andersen, were to last out and finish fourth. The king in his counting house: 1, 2, 3, 4 one million!

Ironically, the one standing – or hopefully running – in the way of such a rout is a colt called Economics.

Heaping on more irony, the race is sponsored by the Bahrain royal family and the owner of Economics is Sheikh Isa, grandson of the king.

Economics has had to miss most of the season but, now fit, would also be fresh and is regarded by the handicapper as 2lb clear of the other three-year-olds. BETDAQ value 3.25

GOT TO GO FOR THE LEGER

⭕ 3.40 Doncaster (St Leger) Ratings, form and stats: see Daqman Wednesday.

The £421k is for me a straight fight between an established colt, Illinois, and a rising star filly, You Got To Me, the English raider.

Taking the fillies’ allowance into consideration, these two are inseparable in the ratings, and I would always take the improver over the established player.

You Got To Me was supplemented (£50,000) after a 26lb rise in the ratings this year. Fourth in both the Oaks and the Ribblesdale but taking the Irish Oaks.

She beat Content at the Curragh and I believe the placings were reversed in the Yorkshire Oaks because, not for the first time, You Got To Me didn’t entirely let herself down on the top of the ground.

Illinois has played with the best: a neck second to Los Angeles in the Juddmonte International, after runner-up to French Derby third, Sosie, in the Grand Prix de Paris.

His winning form was at today’s trip; taking the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot on firm ground in fast time.

BETDAQ value: 3.9 Illinois, 7.5 You Got To Me

APOLLO ONE HAS LIFT-OFF

⭕ 2.25 Doncaster (Portland Handicap) The first of four handicaps at Chester and Doncaster.

The action was mainly down the centre of the track last year but the stands side (high numbers) took over in the sprints yesterday and more are expected to stick to that rail.

Hiya Maite (19) is a likely pacesetter and Jim Goldie, who won the Mallard with Faylaq (18–1) here yesterday, has another big shout with the versatile American Affair (22), who has won from 5f to 7f.

Bergerac (14) and Get it (18) should show up early while, on the far side, Silky Wilky (1) and Manila Scouse (3) are speedy types.

It was too soft for Get It, when 7th last year. He gets 6f at places like Goodwood and Epsom so today’s 5.5 is perfect for him on decent ground.

My pick of the low numbers is Apollo One (9), who loves a battle of the big fields. Christopher Soumillon, who rides Sunway in the St Leger, picks up a spare.

Aberama Gold (13) has won at Doncaster off 92 and 96. Has 87 today, and would come into it if rain changed the ground.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 8.7 American Affair, 21.0 Apollo One, 33 Get It

AUTUMN DOUBLE TARGETS

⭕ 2.40 Chester Last year’s winner Tashkhan gets his required soft ground at long last this season and is again on course for the Cesarewitch to try to better his third in the big autumn handicap. BETDAQ value 8.3

⭕ 4.05 Chester City Streak is 211 on the soft at Chester, improving through the ranks: class 4, class 3, class 2. So his big weight is no worry, dropping back to class 3. BETDAQ value 16.0 win and place

⭕ 4.15 Doncaster Cambridgeshire-targeted Mr King has head waiter Jamie Spencer having only his second ride for Iain Jardine, who took charge of the 80,000gns buy from Ger Lyons in Ireland before the grey’s encouraging York run. BETDAQ value 7.2
