DAQMAN 20-7 CLEAR ON VALUE BETS: Daqman and Pricewise return to battle for the Winter Oaks card at Lingfield this afternoon with the scores 20-7, Daqman 333 points in profit, Pricewise showing a loss of 234, all selections to 10-point level stakes at SP.

NEXT WEEK: Daqman’s ante-post pick for the Supreme Novices Hurdle in March, plus next Saturday’s Trials Day previews.

JONBON GETS FREE TRIAL RIDE

❌ JUMPS cards in England are all abandoned today at Haydock, Taunton and at Ascot, with the Clarence House Chase feature there moved to Cheltenham-trials day next Saturday.

Willie Mullins will now keep El Fabiolo at home for the Dublin Festival the following weekend, leaving his Arkle victim of 2023, Jonbon, to clean up in the Clarence House.

⚠️ INSPECTIONS take place at Lingfield and Fakenham this afternoon for their Sunday cards. Navan goes ahead today and the Thurles Horse And Jockey card for Sunday has no inspection planned.

WATCH HIM FORGE IN FRONT

⭕ 1.25 Lingfield Roger Varian runners catch the eye in the next two handicaps here, starting with this 1m 4f class 4. But Amazing is not amazing punters this morning; the Wolver winner of 25 days ago is on the drift.

Perhaps Amazing’s supporters are worried that the hood is dispensed with and that she has a 4lb penalty, but today’s trip improved her first time of asking at Wolver.

Forge Valley Lad looks a big danger, having had his requisite two runs back which took him to two victories here last February.

Since he struck form in June 2022, Forge Valley Lad has Lingfield form of 12011201, but was 9.3 this morning on the Betdaq Betting Exchange

FOX IN CUNNING DOUBLE BID

⭕ 2.00 Lingfield Dragon Icon, a winner here after a long break, was eight-lengths fifth in the German Guineas, which turned out even lower level than usual.

The winner – Angers – was well beaten afterwards in Group races, and the runner–up failed to reach the first three anywhere subsequently, though dropped down in grade.

That Dragon Icon likes Lingfield helps a bit for today and his being hooded first time suggests that in-form trainer Roger Varian is pushing the button first run back.

The stable also saddles Fantastic Fox, placed in a big-field handicap at the Epsom Derby meeting and back-to-back AW winner twice in the autumn.

Talis Evolvere is 2-3 in AW handicaps (class 3) and Ryan Moore has been booked. But, since the four-year-old won for him at Kempton a fortnight ago, trainer Richard Hannon has had eight straight losers, including three favourites all finishing second. Not a good sign.

Al Rufaa plummeted 13lb down the handicap last year until, switched to a new yard, he scored in a class 4 at Wolverhampton.

It seems we should split stakes on the Varian pair, offered on Betdaq Betting Exchange this morning at 5.8 Dragon Icon, 8.1 Fantastic Fox

CHIPS DOWN ON 11.5 SHOT

⭕ 2.35 Lingfield Bergerac is an old pal for many punters, six times a sprint winner, placed in eight more, yet still only a six-year-old, but his form on marks above 93 is 000400.

Diomed Spirit (BETDAQ 5.7) has climbed the handicap, with four wins in a row taking him up 19lb from class 5 to class 3. Will this step up to class 2 stop the sequence?

Silky Wilkie was beaten a short-head in this race a year ago, but is 11lb higher now and his run of places in the autumn came largely in Listed events where he didn’t have to give weight all round as he does today.

Alligator Alley has good form on AW tracks but not at Lingfield; he prefers Tapeta and his stable is out of form (1-17).

Chipstead has won four times in class 2 and, dropped in the ratings, returned to winning form at Kempton just before Christmas. BETDAQ 11.5.

OAKS DOUBLE ON THE CARDS

⭕ 3.10 Lingfield (Winter Oaks) The two winners of the Winter Oaks both won their previous start, one of them the Trial for the race.

Both came from the sub-9st level in the field, where only Eleanor Cross resides today. She was a close third here at Lingfield to a colt who rates around 97, so her 75 mark is low. BETDAQ 10.0.

The 3.0 favourite today, Oh So Grand won the Trial from Queen Regent, who is 4lb better off now but Oh So Grand was going away. She is from the same stable as last year’s filly who did the double, Trial then the Oaks.

The rest of the Crisford plot to win this seems to rely on Twirling setting the pace (made all at Kempton in early December).

Miss Bluebelle and Storymaker are good at their job on AW but the 15lb rise for her four-timer has Storymaker claimed off now.

⭕ 3.45 Lingfield Lydia Richards has a 100% strike rate since the turn of the year (2-2) so her SIX times CD winner Smith could bounce back to form off a rating level or lower than for the last three of those strikes.

Smith had Lingfield form since November 2021 of 11114131 up to February last year. BETDAQ 16.0.
