OAKS DAY AT LINGIELD: In the absence of jumps big races, the Winter Oaks at Lingfield takes centre stage, with Daqman looking for six winning days and four winning naps in a week.
PLAY WITH ROCKING HORSE
⭕ 12.27 Lingfield Ryan Moore is back. He rides four for the burgeoning stable of George Boughey, starting with the very first race of the afternoon at 11.55.
It’s a ‘stop-at-a-winner’ day for pro punters who follow him but beware money for his Pocket The Packet, particularly if Moore won the first.
Pocket the Packet, top-weight alongside Huberts Dream and Rocking Ends, was a big drifter this morning, out beyond 8.0.
And the handicapper would make a readjustment if he could have foreseen the outcome of Rocking Ends’ victory before Christmas.
He could not know when he raised the ‘Rocking horse’ only 6lb that it was a winners’ race.
Second, fourth, fifth and sixth have all scored since and he looks value for at least another 5lb, which makes his 4.7 on BETDAQ a top play.
Huberts Dream vies for favoritism but is raised 25lb for a hat–trick at a lower level and his yard is 0-17 in the last two weeks.

DOYLE FLIES IN TO BAG OAKS
⭕ 2.47 Lingfield (Winter Oaks Fillies’ Handicap): It’s not tricky picking the best filly on form in this; but the handicapper has already been on the scene and hiked Purple Ribbon to 9st 12lb.
The well-bred mare was in black-type company back in November, beaten a neck at Kempton (1m 4f Listed) by the four-lengths-plus winner of October’s London Middle-Distance Series Final, Belloccio.
Jack Mitchell is the January star (seven winners) but James Doyle flies back from Meydan, bidding for his second winner of the year in England when he rides Al Agaila.
Al Agaila goes for a hat-trick, already having made the leap from class 5 at Kempton to class 2 at Lingfield in the Oaks Trial.
Runner-up Makinmedoit is now 10lb better off but Harry Eustace, whose first runner of the year was second last week, worries that it may not be enough. Al Agaila looks classy.
Morgan Fairy is 213231 on AW and a winner at today’s class-2 level on turf; she gets 15lb from Purple Ribbon but just a couple of pounds from Al Agaila.
Her trainer, William Haggas, has had three consecutive seconds, since getting off the mark for the year here at Lingfield with Mohatu on January 2.
He is confident Morgan Fairy is black-type material and believed that giving her plenty of racing was the answer. Now she steps up in trip after gaining her ability to settle here and at Kempton.
David Simcock, who took the prize a year ago, scored with Aiming High on the first day of the year but dropped her to class 5 to do so, though she has won a class 3 on turf and looks a threat here with a lowly mark of 8st 2lb.

⭕ 3.22 Lingfield (5f sprint): Strong Power landed a hat-trick here last January (all from stall 4) but found it tough with a 25lb hike made worse by a half-length defeat in a Listed.
He eventually managed a class-2 strike at Wolverhampton in October off 2lb lower than today, upped to 6f. Stable in form but he’s only 1-8 in blinkers which replace cheekpieces of recent races.
The Bell Conductor’s hat-trick which straddled a long break took him 18lb up the ratings ladder. Paul Mulrennan knows him well and it’s his sole ride of the day.
However, trainer Paul Midgley, who had a winner last Saturday at Newcastle, and makes a rare trip South, has a poor Lingfield record of 1-20.
Compare with Karl Burke (110 winners here). His Silky Wilkie ran second to Annaf here, also over 6f, a week back. Annaf has gone on to score again and achieve a rating of 107.
Drawn wide with La Roca Del Fuego are Stone Of Destiny- 25 starts without a win since September, 2020 – and Lord Riddiford, who has won over the CD but is hard to place.
Pop Dancer is well in with both Lord Riddford and La Roca Del Fuego, and has the guidance of his Lingfield winning rider of last November, Luke Morris.
Embour is best at 6f and his handler, Ruth Carr, hasn’t had a winner for eight weeks.
